My husband and I are big coffee drinkers. I drink it black and he likes it with cream, but we both put a high value of having great coffee each morning, and enough to have a couple of cups each. Our 22-year-old daughter drinks it now too, so we make pots in the morning and sometimes in afternoon too. We got this Technivorm 4-5 years ago, and it makes coffee just as well as the day we got it. It got good reviews from Cooks Illustrated, so we got it mail order and have never regretted it. Easy to fill with water and the stainless carafe keeps the coffee warm for quite some time. We use a gold tone filter with it. The best! Highly recommend. Brew Performance Excellent coffee. And fast too. Ease of Cleaning We hand wash everything because we want to, but I would imagine you could put everything in the dishwasher if you were in a rush or were lazy on a day. Every so often, my husband runs vinegar and water through it to clean the inside. Ease of Use Could not be easier. Fill the water from top. You can see it run through the machine - Your coffee is done! Design Probably the best part. Looks good and functional. We keep it out on our granite counters. Durability Has worked 4-5 years without a single problem.

This is a great coffee maker. It heats the water to a perfect temperature so as not to scorch the grounds. The only problem is that the basket sometimes can be placed so that the lever at the bottom of the basket is not engaged, so the basket fills with water and gets grounds everywhere! Fortunately, this is always due to user error. The newer models have a better mechanism for avoiding this problem: there's a switch on the side that allows for changing the size of the aperture at the bottom of the basket, so that one can have the grounds percolate for a longer period. However, this model is great! Brew Performance Brews great coffee. Heats water quickly, but to the proper temperature for making coffee. Ease of Cleaning Depending on how hard your water is, it can be a little difficult to clean the resulting scale build-up. However, technivorm sells these little tablets for descaling the water reservoir. Otherwise, it's really easy to clean and put back together. Ease of Use Super easy to use.

Obviously the price is expensive and if that's an issue, go with the Bonavita. However, the build quality of this thing is amazing. Aluminum and copper combined makes it reliable but nicely designed. The technivorm has a good open filter basket with a variety of options. Brew Performance Very quick brewing time and accurate temperature. The coffee is smooth and tastes great. You can definitely taste the difference in different beans. Ease of Cleaning High quality materials make it easy to clean. Ease of Use Very easy to use and not flimsy at all. It won't easily tip so you don't have to worry about that. Design I love the design to both the carafe and the machine. It just looks so good on the counter top. Durability A very long warranty and the quality of the materials are superior. Hand assembled to last for a long time.

I bought a Technivorm a couple years ago when my old automatic vacuum pot died. I read a lot of reviews looking for the best home coffee maker on the market. I haven't been disappointed. The pot makes excellent coffee, heating the water to the proper temperature, and has given us no problems. If you don't care about good coffee, don't spend the money. But if you do, it's worth every penny.
