When my 14 year old son had a terrible earache recently, the doctor prescribed pain killing ear drops, Prednisone for the swelling, and the antibiotic **AZITHROMYCIN 250MG TABLETS 6-PAK **to kill the bacterial infection that had settled in his inner ear. I have 4 sons and all of them have been prescribed Z-Pak for bacterial infections in the past, but this was the first time we had been given the generic AZITHROMYCIN. I'm always a litte leary the first time I'm given a generic form of a drug when I'm used to the name brand. Some generic drugs work just as well as the brand name, but some do not. My son was really in a lot of pain so I was hoping and praying that this generic medication would work quickly and work well, and it did. The **AZITHROMYCIN 250MG TABLETS 6-PAK **started working very quickly. There were six tablets in the box, and the first dose was two tablets, then one tablet each day for the next four days. My son's ear ache felt considerably better the very next day after taking the inital 2 tablets, and by the third day of taking it, the pain was completely gone. Shane continued to take the rest of the antibiotics because I'm well aware of the fact that infections can come back and be even worse if the entire prescription is not taken as directed. Z-Pak and this generic brand of Z-Pak work a little differently that other antibiotics. They continue to wok in fighting the infection for 10 days after the 6 pills have all been taken. That makes it much easier to take enough medication to kill all of the bacteria because it's easy to forget to take medicine when you don't hurt anymore. Taking 6 pills in 4 days is much easier than taking 3 pills a day for a week, but it's just as effective. I am very happy that the generic AZITHROMYCIN 250MG TABLETS 6-PAK work as well as the name brand because the generic didn't cost me a dime, but it worked very quickly in killing my son's inner ear infection.
