Super Poligrip Comfort Seal Strips: I'll pass!

2

Like most people new to dentures I've spent a lot of time trying different adhesives to make them easier and more effective to use. I'm told that there are people who use no adhesive at all. I've yet to meet one. Fortunately, I've had no problems adapting to my temporary need to wear full dentures. They fit, they're comfortable, they look pretty good and they do the job for which they're intended. But, in order to be able to eat anything I want I do need a decent adhesive. About a year ago I was in the pharmacy when I saw **Super Poligrip Comfort Seal Strips** and figured I'd give them a try. **Super Poligrip Comfort Seal Strips** Basically, these are short dry adhesive strips that you moisten and apply to your denture. Three strips on the top denture, two on the bottom. For many, in order not to have the strips overlap they have to be trimmed before being attached. Once attached I placed the top denture in my mouth and held it firmly in place for the recommended 30 seconds. It helps if your mouth is wet before you insert them. Poligrip claims the strips should give you all day hold. That certainly hasn't been my experience. At best their adhesive properties lasted me all of about 4 hours if I chose to eat and drink whatever I wanted. Even just warm beverages seemed to overwhelm the strips. They aren't particularly comfortable, nor are they particularly convenient to use. In the time it took me to just prepare to use the strips, I found that I could apply and insert my dentures using the far superior Fixodent or Super Poligrip Adhesive Powders. **My Viewpoint** With so many superior adhesive alternatives available, I found I was wasting my time and money with Super Poligrip Comfort Seal Strips. Of course your mileage may vary. After all, someone is using this product. I prefer a quality powder such as Fixodent or Fixodent Food Seal Adhesive Cream. If you're looking for advice, I recommend you skip Super Poligrip Comfort Seal Strips.

Super Poligrip Comfort Seal Strips don't work. New dentures do.

I have had dentures for the past 40 years, and nothing will keep them in place, after you have had them for a few years. I must have had 5 lots of dentures, because they get so loose, when your gums shrink. I have a box of Super Poligrip Comfort Seal Strips in the bathroom, and had been using them on my old dentures. The strips were too big for the lower dentures, and they oozed out. This was totally disgusting. On the upper ones it states to use 3 strips. I tried this, and there was way too much, so I used 1, and cut it into 3 pieces. I then placed it in the correct areas. It did hold them for a short period of time, but as soon as I started eating, I got tomato pips, and other bits of food under the top one. This then caused me pain in eating. I had to go to the bathroom and wait to be on my own, to remove the food. I decided to get new dentures and that resolved the problem. They fit tight and I don't need Super Poligrip Comfort Seal Strips.

I hated the thought of getting dentures. Absolutely hated it. Most of us have to go through this and don't like it. But what is hard is trying to pick and choose a denture adhesive that will actually work, affordable, is strong, don't ooze all over our mouths and gag us or give the dentures that sticky material that will be hard to come off. The Dentist I went to had his product he recommended of course. I was a newbie at this so I thought I would try his idea first. Well, needless to say, it didnt work as well for me as it probably did his other patients. I decided to scope out the products that were already on the store shelfs. So many to choose from between them and the cleansing tablets that I just could not make up my mind. I didn't want to keep buying items and try it as that could get costly. Then, the gal I was shopping with told me of a product she uses. So that is when I bought this Super Polident Comfort Seal Strips. The box comes with 40 denture adhesive strips that will work for uppers, lowers and partial dentures. **How to use this product: **Clean and dry your denture. With dry hands peel open and remove strips. Moisten strip with a little water.Place strips on denture being sure not to overlap them and not to get them close to the edge of the denture. Rinse your mouth with water, then put in yoru denture and bite down firmly. Myself I like to cut those little strips ahead of time down a little or in half and then apply. I use only 3 pieces of strips and they do hold my dentures securly. You can also apply a dry strip to a wet denture and it will work. ** Bedtime:**Remove dentures and take out strips when you are ready to soak your teeth. This process is so much easier to take out and clean than that gooey stuff they always recommend. This product is distributed by Glaxo Smith Kline Company but is : **Made in Japan.**

They do not hold,

1

The strips are not strong or do they  adhere to dentures securly,,, when sucking or bitting they move terribly. I have top dentures and am very dissatisfied. Im a divorced women and it is embarassing enough having dentures, never mind when out to dinner and trying to chew {not steak and such either} they move and fall down. Anyway the concept was a good ideal cause the cream is to messy but holds well,

Since the cat is out of the bag so to speak I wanted to let you know of another product from Poligrip that is easier to use than the tube of adhesive. I am speaking of these new ***Comfort Seal Strips ***from Poligrip.**Super Poligrip Comfort Seal Strips**I came across these a few months ago while waiting for my prescription to be filled and decided to give them a try. I have tried others of this type before but didn't like the taste but since Super Poligrip has been good to me I bought them.Super Poligrip Comfort Strips come in a box of 40 strips and if used as directed will allow you to get 8 uses if you wear full dentures (full is both upper and lower dentures) They say to use 3 on the upper (1 on each side and one on top) and 2 on the lowers. I however only use 2 on the upper (serious gag reflex here...lol) so I get 10 uses per box. Each strip needs to be moistened and the placed on the denture but be sure not to overlap them. After they are in place you then rinse your mouth to moisten throughly and place your dentures in and bite down for about 30 seconds. I find this works best to hold them securely in place. As with the paste hot liquids will loosen them up but if you are one of the lucky ones it won't matter. Since I cannot wear them without adhesive hot liquids are a no no unless I am wanting to take them out. These generally last me all day as long as I take small bites and stay away from coffee and such.**Bottom Line**I never dreamed I would ever have to wear dentures but since I do I am glad ***Super Poligrip*** is out there for me to use. I have gone long periods without wearing them and the only drawback is I can't eat peanuts, cashews or pistachios. Perhaps one day I will win the Powerball and be able to afford implants but until then Super Poligrip will be my best friend as it keeps my smile in place!
