As a first time mom, I wanted to make sure we had every safety feature possible.  Everyone I talked to thought the video monitor was unnecessary.  "Isn't the sound monitor enough?"  I say, heck no, and now, so does my husband and my mom! The Summer Infant Video Monitor is a great! It comes with a large LED screen you can place on any table or shelf.  An additional feature is the handheld monitor with a video screen as well.  Both screens come with sound as well! The picture is clear and sharp.  The camera swivels on it's base so it's easy to position to get every angle or close up views of your special bundle. The handheld monitor also comes with an auto shut off of the video screen so at night there isn't a large glaring light in your face as it sits on your night stand.  There is a button on the top to hit to instantly view the baby when you need to, after the screen goes to standby mode. Only downside is the handheld monitor is bulky and the battery doesn't seem to last very long before it needs to be recharged.

I did a lot of research on baby monitors when I was pregnant 5 years ago. I could never find a standard monitor that had all rave reviews, so I decided to take a chance on the Summer Infant Secure Sounds Digital Monitor. My main worry was being able to pick up my neighbor's cordless phone conversations, so I figured going with a digital monitor was the way to go. I'm happy to say that it was! I used the Summer Infant Secure Sounds Digital Monitor for about 2 years before I retired it to the closet. I recently was able to pull it out after a 2.5 year hiatus and it works just as good today as it did all that time ago. I really like this monitor. It has a good long range on it--I have taken it outside many times while my daughter was napping. If you get out of range it will either go silent or start beeping. I like that there is a handheld device that you can carry around, and there is a clip on it so that you can conveniently clip it to your clothes. I also love that it's rechargeable, so you don't waste batteries on it, especially with so many baby items needing batteries. I also like that there is a screen on the front of the receiver that shows the level of noise where the baby is. This is often helpful to me when I'm in the shower and I can't exactly hear what is going on, but I can look at the receiver and tell if the light is bouncing up at the top of that my baby is moving around. Great product!

This monitor worked well when we first got it.  I could hear everything in my son's room.  The range was pretty good too.  When my son was napping I could take it outside in the front yard or backyard while I worked on the garden.  I really liked the fact that it charged, so I didn't have to replace batteries in it constantly.  Also, I like that it comes in several different color options.   It's very simple to use and hook up.  My biggest problem was that it completely stopped working after my son was about a year and a half old.  If it wouldn't have broken so easily I would have given it five stars because it really is a great monitor, but ended up having to replace it with something else.  I like the looks of it as well.  If mine would have lasted longer I would have a higher opinion of it, but I'm really bummed that it broke.  Overall, I do think it's a pretty good monitor and the price is reasonable.

I am all about bargains and finding the best deal so when I was researching baby monitors and came across this one, the price scared me away at first. But I came back to it time and time again and had heard so many great things that I went ahead and took a couple gift cards I received at showers, waited for a sale price/coupon deal and splurged on it. BEST decision I have made so far as a parent. We keep the big monitor right by our bed. If we hear a sound, just look at the monitor, be reassured that everything is alright (or God forbid, not alright) and go back to sleep.Less stress, more time for sleep (which is a must!). The handheld monitor helps me during naptimes. I'm not afraid to go outside to do a little gardening, clean the house, cook, etc. Sometimes when I need to be handsfree and my son is not sleeping, I put him in his crib, grab the monitor, attach it to my pants, and voila, I'm handsfree and yet still have ears and eyes on him. Its perfect for a busy mom and for a mom that just needs some relaxation every once in awhile. And if I'm doing something noisy, like vacuuming, blending, exercising, etc, I still have eyes on hm through the monitor. Its great! Another cool feature, you can hook the handheld up to your tv as well through the video cables (its so easy even I can do it!) and then if I want to watch him on the big screen I can, while I clean, cook, or even watch tv picture in picture with my favorite program. I honestly think I would have driven myself insane with worry if I didn't have this as  a new parent. It is a must have and even after a year and a half of constant use, everything still works great! I recommend this to all my friends if they dont already have it. It is worth every penny! I'm hoping it will last through my child's teen years as well :) Just kidding... I think. lol

The Summer Infint Video monitor is a must have.  It is more expensive than regular audio monitors but the price is well worth it.  It will last for all of your kids and give you peace of mind knowing you can see what is happening with your baby in the crib and not just hear some noises.  It helps you make an informed decision about whether your child needs your attention or is simply making noise while he/she is going to sleep.  It takes the guess work out of deciding whether or not to check on your baby.  Sound advice says that you shouldn't respond to every little noise your child makes or that teaches them to call you in for no reason.  Instead, you can see what is going on with your baby to help dedicde whether they actually need your attention.  You can see the difference between the baby changing positions, or actually is wide awake and ready for you to come get them.  The video picture is clear, interference is limited and easily corrected by simply moving the monitor a few inches on the desk, and the feature of automatically switching to night mode when the lighting is too dark is great.  So you can see still see your baby in complete darkness in the room with infared vision.  The secondary audio only receiver is a great addition to have secondary coverage in additional rooms that you frequent as well or to keep by your bed at night.  This is a great product that is a must have for all parents of newborns.

At first this monitor was great.  It caught the noise perfectly.  we could hear everything. we never had any problems at all. Then out of the blue things went down hill. THe monitor doesn't connect to the base and you have to slam it down in order to get it to connect. Whn you try to turn it up it doens;t turn up. It stays at the same level. It is not a good monitor. Battery didn't last long when not charged. It would die within 45 minutes.  You couldn't do the dishes and carry aroudn the monitor when vacumming.  It'd have to stay on the base.  It ended up dying at 14 months but warranty only last 12 months. I tried to call the company but they wanted to do with it helping us. they wanted us to mail the monitor to them and pay for the shipping and then pay for them to look at it.  i was highly diasappoitnted. We paid a good amount for the monitor too. I would suggest purchasing something else worth a little more.

I received this monitor on my shower about 2 days before my baby was born.  From that day on I absolutely fell lin love with it.  This is a life saver! The summer camera, infant, baby monitor are the eyes and ears for when you cannoy be right next to your aby; in fact I have it right next to me at this very moment!  I am not only able to hear my baby but I can see her also!!  Let's face itm us moms are busy and when our babies nap we chores that need to get done.  This monitor lets us complete our tasks and still "monitor" our baby at the same time.  I highly reccomend this product to any and all moms!!

 I was presently surprised how wonderful the Summer Infant secure sounds monitor was. It is very durable and eye pleasing with the different colors that the Summer infant secure sounds monitor comes in. I was also surprised that when I put my baby in the crib to sleep I could not only go anywhere in the house, but also go outside to my garden and still her him breathing! One of the best perks about the monitor is that it is an energy star product! With everything going green this is just another way to help out mother earth and still have the quality and most important the confidence that my little one was still sound asleep and doing OK. The down side is that it comes with just one receiver. Also it was hard to take off the battery cover as the screw holes were very small. That is really the only bad things about it. I was very pleased that there was no static or interference. It was just a really great monitor.

The Summer Infant Digital Monitor is the best. The camera can be positioned anywhere, and you can mount it on the wall as well. The monitor is in color, and it also has the night vision. The night vision is in black and white. I love it because you can see the baby in a dark room. You can see if her eyes are open, and how much she is moving around. It is a clear picture excet when you zoom in, but even when you zoom you can still see the baby and what is going on.There is also a button on top you can press to turn off the video, if you would just like to listen. That is helpful at night because the monitor is pretty bright. I keep the sound on and video off until I hear her. Then I wil turn on the video to see if I need to go into her room or if she is just going back to sleep. The volume is great. It's adjustable in case you are a heavier sleeper or a lighter one. And you can also pan the room on the monitor. There is a little toggle knob in the monitor. I like that because sometimes I will put her on the bed or in her crib, and I don't have to move the actual camera. The only downside is the price. Even then I think it's worth it.

This item has a lot of white noise.  It also has a lot of feedback from my daughter's cd player when it is on.  I have a two story house with a basement and it works anywhere in the house as other monitors don't seem to do such a good job.  It seems to do the job for the money.
