Have you ever been around a young child who begs for a talking toy and then only a few days or weeks later, the parents are trying to disable the thing so they don't have to HEAR it anymore? Well, contrary to what it might seem, the Stila Talking Eye Palette for Smokey Eyes is not that bad. **Product Details** The Talking Smokey Eye Palette from Stila comes in a palette that is about a half inch thick. On top of the palette is a changing eye that has the eyeshadow on it. When you hold it one way, it is open and tilting it makes the eye close. Inside, the palette has a magnetic closure, a button you press and when you do Voila- it talks! It teaches you how to apply the shadows. The palette has a clear plastic sheet with each shadow named on it so it is easy to follow. On the back, you get a diagram in case the sheet is taken out. In addition to the talking instructions, there is also an illustrated sheet inside which shows how to apply the shadow for all of those visual learners out there. The colors in the set are: Base (caucasian skintone) Lid (brownish olive) Crease (dark olive with a touch of forest green) Liner (burgundy color) **Product Performance** The quality of the shadows are very good. Applied over an eyeshadow primer such as Too Faced Shadow Insurance will give a much nicer application than trying to use them on plain skin. The colors are complex and interesting and very flattering to many skintones- although they tend to be a little bit slanted toward warmer tones, they will work on both well. The shadows stay on very well with primer and they blend beautifully. I think that the colors included are unique and worth having. I get a lot of compliments on my eyes whenever I use this palette. The instructions are well laid out for someone who does not have the confidence to apply their shadow without it. They can then spin off into other ideas once comfortable with learning the one style. **The Bottom Line** Stila Smokey Eye Talking Palette is still around online here and there, and if you get a chance to pick one up, it is well worth having. The quality is very good, the instructions fun to play with and the palette is full of unique colors that all go well together. If there was anything not great about it, I would say that it is a bit thick for strorage compared to other thin palettes. That is not a big deal though.

I absolutely adore the Stila Smoky Eye Talking Palette.  First of all, it talks.  That's right, my makeup talks to me! How cool is that?  Okay, so it's just a button you push that goes through instructions on how to create a smoky eye, but still...super neat.  The palette comes with fairly detailed instructions, both written and recorded, on how to achieve the perfect smoky eye look.  It also has area by area instructions located over each color of eyeshadow, telling you where to place that color, like on base, lid, crease, and liner.  For a novice or inexperienced makup person, this would be invaluable help.  Most of all, it's FUN.  It's fun to have your makeup talk to you and it's fun to experiment with making the perfect smoky eye! And of course, Stila makeup is very high quality.  It stays put on your face, it's easy to apply, and it's a joy to use. I highly recommend this product...in fact, I want to get myself some more colors! ********

I received this Talking Stila compact as a gift and was, like most people, at first amused with the talking feature. I did use that a handful of times and was delighted with the instructions, it's much easier to learn a new application technique when I can hear it audibly rather than trying to read, pause, try it out.  I no longer use the talking feature (except to amuse my three year old daughter from time to time) but I absolutely love the shadows, this has really become one of my two go-to eye makeup looks. It's dramatic enough to enhance my smallish green eyes and give me that put together appearance without being too over the top for wearing to the office during the day.  With the nice combination of plum and neutrals I can easily use this compact to affect anything from a very natural, minimal look to a much dressier, more dramatic look for evening. I love having these complimentary colors all in one place and Stila is a brand I trust.

For quite a while now, the smoky eye look has been in fashion. It's a great look for a dramatic night look that works with many different outfits. I have read a million different magazine articles about how to achieve this look, but I never quite found the right products. Stila Smoky Eye Talking Palette has the perfect colors for the smoky eye look. The "talking" feature is ok, but I only listened to it once or twice because the sound quality is not that great. Once you figure out how to get the look, you really don't have to listen to the instructions. What I think is great about the palette is that you can achieve the look as dramatic or not dramatic as you would like. For example, during the day I use the white and the black only - the white to highlight my eyelid and the black over top of my eye liner. Then to take the look into night, I use the two gray shades to add contours and definition. The packaging is also great because it fits easily into any make-up case and you never have to worry about the shadows breaking. I think this palette is a great way to get all the colors of eye shadow to get the smoky eye look.

This kit has amazing colors to create a great smoky eye.  I love that it talks to you and tells you which to shade to apply to what area of the eyelid.  This eyeshadow is long lasting, it doesn't smudge or fade throughout the day.  This kit will accentuate any look and any outfit, day or night.  You can use different colors with other colors that you have in your makeup kit.  This kit is great for traveling, you have four eyeshadows that are easy to transport since they are in one package.  Stila cosmetics are more on the expensive side, but I think it's a great splurge if you want quality products that will last a long time.  I use this kit very frequently, it's easy to use during those mornings when I don't know what end is up.  I quickly grab this kit and blend the colors together and voila, I am set for the day.  If I ever need guidance I simply listen to the voice telling me where to apply each shade, super easy and convenient.
