My husband and I had a horribly caved in Sealy Posturepedic pillow-top mattress for years. It was causing me horrible back pain, even with a Serta Memory Foam Mattress Topper on it, so we finally got rid of it and decided to try a new brand - Stearns & Foster. Since pillow-top mattresses can't be flipped over, you can't get the maximum usage out of them that you can with other types of mattresses. We looked at all kinds of mattresses at the store including latex, but we opted for a traditional spring mattress made by Stearns & Foster because the sales person informed me that this particular brand uses a stronger and thicker metal for the spring coils; plus, they use pocket coils, which means they are kind of individually placed in the mattress instead of having a large sheet of connected coils (which tends to not be as supportive as pocket coils). Although I find pillow-top mattresses to be very comfy when first lying down on them, my **Stearns & Foster Chestnut Street Luxury Firm Mattress** is very comfortable once you get used to it. I never thought I would like sleeping on a "firm" mattress, but the Chestnut Street is the perfect balance of support and comfort. The first week that we used it, I thought it was a little too firm, but my body really adjusted to it and now loves it. My back doesn't hurt anymore and it's comfortable for both of my sleeping positions: stomach and side. I'm glad I listened to my sales person when he said "give your body 30 days to get used to your new mattress before you think about returning it". He said your back needs time to adjust, and after a month, it should be comfortable to you. He was right. My back did eventually adjust to the firmness of this mattress and now I love my **Stearns & Foster Chestnut Street Luxury Firm Mattress**! Support Provides all the support I need, while still being comfortable. I don't feel like I'm sleeping on a board! Firmness Although I thought it was too firm when I first bought it, it has now proven to be exactly what my back needs! Durability We haven't experienced any spots on the mattress where there are dips or caves.
