Tightens pores

5

I have very large pores on my face. When I use a facial mask, I want to make sure it will help clear and shrink the pores on my face and tighten my skin without drying it out. The St. Ives Hydroxy Masque is perfect for my skin. This facial mask dries almost instantly when you apply it to your skin. This is a very good thing because you are able to tell where you have applied the product on your face and the locations where you still need to apply the product. I followed the directions on the back of the bottle and left this mask on for the recommended period of time. When I removed the mask from my face, I immediately noticed that my pores were clear, smaller, and less noticeable. My face felt cool and refreshed. Effectiveness This facial mask is very effective. It gives great results and is a good product to use if you have combination skin. Ease of Application This product went on smoothly and was very easy to apply. Scent It has a pleasant scent.

I guess I got what I paid for...

St Ives is usually one of my favorite brands just because it's so cost effective while still delivering a pretty decent product. The hydroxy mask, however, doesn't really deliver. I guess I'm not too upset about it because it was a decent value, but I was definitely disappointed in a lot of ways. I think next time I'll spring for something a little more high quality and skip all the hassle and failed results. Effectiveness This facial mask is pretty middle ground. I've had much better but I've also had much worse. I hated the way it left my skin feeling kind of sticky and gross. I ended up showering afterwards, which was a great plan because I really needed to wash the residue off my face. Ease of Application This mask is incredibly runny. It applies more like a lotion than anything else and when it sets it doesn't really harden enough to peel off the way it aught to. Scent The scent is mild and pleasant enough I suppose.

One of my least favorite products from St. Ives

First of all, you have to be cautious when using this. do not get it near your hairline or eyebrows. Once it dries, it is hard to get it off. It has a weird consistency. It is a bit more runny then what I would like. After you apply it, it takes quite a long tome to dry. peeling it off is also a task. It leaves a lot behind and it is hard to get off. It also leaves your face feeling somewhat sticky.I had to wash my face after taking it off Effectiveness I think it was intended to have much better results, but it failed. It is supposed to leave your skin feeling refreshed and with a deep clean feeling, but it did not deliver. It leaves a residue behind and it feels a bit sticky. Ease of Application The application is pretty easy, but I did not like the consistency. it was a bit runny and a bit messy. It takes a while to dry off as well. Scent The scent was somewhat odd. I did not like it one bit. I can not explain the scent, but I felt like I was putting glue on my face.

Great mask, lots of fun to peel

St. Ives really needs to bring back this mask. I have a feeling they have discontinued it because I can no longer find it anywhere. But I used to use this all the time (before my bottle sadly ran out) and it was wonderful for my skin. I do not know how much it would help with acne or serious skin problems, but for me it was just to hydrate, brighten, and even my skin. I really felt clean after using this product, and it is also fun to use. It is a peel off type mask (which I think is hard to find in general these days), so you put it all over your face, wait the allotted time, then have a great blast peeling it off. This product does not make my skin feel dry or over cleansed like some masks do, instead I just feel clean and refreshed. I used this a couple times a week and never had any kinds of negative reactions. If you can find it somewhere, buy it up and give it a try! Effectiveness Leaves skin clean and soft

St. Ives Hydroxy Masque is great for mild acne but nothing more.

I have very oily skin and often use a masque to cleanse away the excess that always seems to linger even after washing my face twice daily.  This masque doesn't have an exfoliating component and is very sticky to use.  You just peel it off when you're done, which leaves you with this sticky reside that smells odd, and leaves your skin feeling worse than before.  If you have mild acne and non-oily skin, it might work fairly well, but for me it was a disaster.  I trashed it after a week.

A staple in my skin care

As a teenager like most of us I suffered from mild acne.  Of course that introduced me into a lifelong love affair with St. Ives face masques.   This specific one is for "all skin types" and I have to admit I am not a constant user of this product.  Mainly because of time, it takes time. What I generally do is after I shower I apply this because of the steam and heat of my shower generally opens up the pores on the face and its beneficial to removing dirt and other "yuckies" from your skin.  I let this dry completely, and peel-off, always reminding me of the movie "American Psycho" because of the scene with the face masque.  To spite that, I swear by this product.  If I am breaking out this is the product I run to first.  It is by no means a quick fix, it might actually make things worse at first, but after a couple weeks there is a "tada" moment!  Here is my reasoning to this... it is basically puling stuff out of your skin, so some stuff will come out while some stuff that is deeper down moves closer to the surface.  You continue doing this till there is very little dirt and bacteria left... it takes time and I have found this to work with my breakouts.  It is certainly not the only product in my arsenal against the occasional breakout, but it there.  I would recommend acne sufferers to at least give this a try... once a week for a month and see if you have a difference!    My only con is that it leaves bits and pieces after you peel off and they are annoying to remove, as well as I have difficutly applying this evenly and I tend to have drips, and it does not dry evenly.
