This TV was one of the top of the line models the year I bought it. By today's standards, it is outclassed in features due to its lack of LED backlighting, 120 hz (or higher) refresh rate, network connectivity, 3D display, etc. However, where it is NOT outclassed and where it still stands toe-to-toe with the best of them is its display. This LCD produces amazingly good blacks. You can tell when you watch darker films and you can still see everything. When compared side-by-side with more recent models of this same TV and even more recent models of other brands in a comparable class, this LCD TV still shines and outperforms many of them. A great investment, because the TV of 4 years ago still is producing quality images that will not leave me wanting to purchase a new set again. The fact that it has shown competence for as long as it has is impressive, and I am pretty sure that I will still be happy with this set for years to come

I'm glad to find the Sony 37' HD LCD TV which fits in the family room perfectly.  The image is bright and clear with solid colors.  The on-screen display channel information is useful.  The remote control unit is not the best design in the market, but it does serve the purpose.
