Mostly Mineral Oil and Petrolatum

2

I originally bought this for my teen stepdaughter's kinky natural hair style, which requires a good leave-in conditioning treatment to add shine and to keep it supple. She gave it back to me because she complained it was entirely too greasy, even though the label claims there's "no greasy build-up." I figured maybe she was just using too much product, so I thought I'd experiment with it on my relaxed, shoulder-length hair. Well, it turns out I agreed with her assessment. I found that **Optimum Care Oil Therapy** is simply way too greasy even though I used just a small amount. Although the front of a bottle proclaims that the moisturizer contains coconut, olive, avocado, and jojoba oils, a quick look at the ingredient list shows that they are in very tiny amounts near the end of the list. The first oil listed is mineral oil; followed closely by petrolatum. And when you pour a bit of it your hand, it does feel as greasy as baby oil. Overall, I don't think it's a bad product if your hair really requires that level of oil. The greasy feel does tend to dissipate and absorb eventually and I didn't notice any flaking. But it's not a product I'd use again, or recommend to friends or family. I just think there are more moisturizing (and less greasy) products available.
