Needs Repair

4

I was very excited to receive this sewing machine as a birthday gift from my mom and husband two years ago. I was thrilled to have it. I enjoy sewing and was happy to be able to do projects again. I have gotten a lot of use out of this machine. I have sewn clothes on it for myself and for other children. I have used it to repair clothing that I have bought in the store. And to make baby gifts and quilts for friends. Lately, it has started to make a squeaking sound when I sew. My husband took it apart and tried to fix it. However, he can not figure it out. I really do not want to pay the money to take it to get repaired because I'm not sure how much it would cost and if it would be better to just buy a new machine instead. One thing that I do like about using this brand is that you can easily find parts for it in wal-mart or other craft stores. If you need extra needles, bobbins, etc. the parts are easy to get for it. I have a friend who has a different brand sewing machine, and she is always having a difficult time finding parts for it.

Good basic machine.

This is the perfect sewing machine for beginners because it is so simple to use! This is a very basic machine, so if you are an avid sewer you probably want a fancier machine. This is great for teaching sewing basics. There are not a bunch of different settings or buttons that you have to figure out. I do not sew much and I do not take on any big sewing projects, so this is great for me. I recently taught a friend how to sew, using this machine. She picked it up quickly and easily! Although this machine is small and basic, it is powerful enough for most jobs. I can hem denim with this Singer without a problem. I highly recommend this machine! Singer is an excellent brand and make great products. Ease of Use This machine is very easy to use, which makes it great for beginners. Versatility This is a basic sewing machine, so it does lack in versatility. If you are a serious sewer you will probably want a fancier machine that has more options.

Good basic machine for beginners

This is a good machine for those just beginning. It has all the basics necessary without a bunch of extras that you may not know what to do with. It is a good value for the price. Stitch Performance I have had no problems with basic stitching. I don't do any fancy or complicated projects so it suits my needs just fine. Ease of Use This is a very easy machine to use. I had a little trouble when I first started with learning how to thread the machine properly, but that was operator error, not the machine's fault! Once you figure that out it is a snap to work with. Fabric Handling I have made things out of regular cotton and also (stretchy) T-shirt material and had no problems with either one. I haven't tried denim or any delicate fabrics. Versatility I have not tried making a wide variety of projects yet. So far it has served well for making a shirt, a stretch maternity dress, and some minor seam repair jobs. Design Overall seems like a good basic design. There is nothing too fancy, it is very easy to use. Durability My machine has really only gotten light use but it has held up just fine.

Great Beginner Machine

4

This sewing machine is fantastic for beginning sewers and for basic, simple, everyday sewing jobs. It's a great machine to learn how to sew on as well. It can do all the important, basic things, but without so many extra options and settings that its overwhelming to learn. The machine is designed well, compact and lightweight, easy to store, easy to use, and helps get the job done well and quickly. I especially like the price. It's a great value for the money. It doesn't do a whole lot of fancy stuff, so if you're looking for something with tons of options or something that can handle more complex sewing jobs, then this probably isn't the right machine for you, but if you're new to sewing, looking for a machine to learn on, or plan to use the machine occasionally for sewing jobs that aren't too complicated or intricate, then I'd highly recommend this sewing machine because it's a great value for the money, does exactly what it says it will do, and Singer is also a really great sewing machine brand that I trust - and that many generations of women in my family before me have trusted.

Easy and great learning tool

5

This is the first sewing machine I have ever had and I received it as a gift because I wanted to learn some basic sewing skills. This was great because it was easy and I was able to learn without facing to many machine complications. I think had I started with anything even slightly more complicated, I would have changed my mind about learning. I have no passed this along to a good friend who is just starting out and have upgraded! The price is nice, too! Stitch Performance This is perfect for basic stitching. If you already know what you are doing this machine would probably slow you down. Ease of Use Extremely easy to use without frustrating the user. Fabric Handling I had a little trouble here in the beginning, however, I believe it was partially the machine and partially my inexperience. Versatility Not very versatile as far as projects. I'd say this is a beginning machine for a sewing newbie! Design Nice basic design and it is on the small side. You do not need a big work area for this machine. Durability I used it for awhile and so has my friend. It is in great condition and I never had any problems with it.

Singer Simple Basic is a good brand for beginners. It has all the basic steps and stops that you would need when just starting out on a sewing machine for the first time. It is lightweight, easy to use, and quick. Singer Simple Basic has simple to follow directions and comes with everything you would need when starting out. Stitch Performance Singer Simple Basic has 32 different types of stitches you can choose from: Basic, Stretch, Buttonhole and Decorative. It gives better results with less work than hand stitching. Ease of Use Singer Simple Basic is so easy to use. It comes with a Fully Automatic 1-step ButtonHole and an Automatic Needle Threader. This comes in handy for those that hate threading their own needles. I know I get tired of it. It also has one step stitch switching, so you don't spend hours trying to switch from one setting to another. And you can do it while your fabric is still on the arm, so you don't even need to remove it and start over. Fabric Handling At 750 stitches a minute the Singer Simple Basic handles fabric like a dream. It's so easy to use, and it has reverse stitching, so you can go back over what you already did, in the other direction. Versatility The metal frame keeps it steady while you sew and with it's reverse button, you can easily go back over what you sewed to double stitch it and assure yourself that it will stay stitched. The free arm provides easy access to pants, shirts, cuffs, and hems, or any other hard to reach place. Design It's lightweight and small so it is easy to store, and easier to use. All the buttons are labeled so there is no guessing, and it comes with everything you would need to start out. And it has an accessory storage so you never need to hunt for your materials as they all store away neatly in the machine itself. Durability The Singer Simple Basic is fully equipped to fit all your needs for many years, and will be with you as you advance through Beginner levels, and all the way up to Expert sewing.
