Works like a charm!

5

I've never actually owned a sewing machine before this one, but if I had, I still bet it would be the best! My mom has been making dresses and doing apolstery repair for years, and she loves my new Singer! I don't really have anything bad to say- good value, easy to learn how to use, and gets the job done well!

The Singer HD110. It's not pink and it works great!

When the need to purchase a sewing machine arose, I had two concerns. I will admit, I purchased the Singer HD-110 sewing machine partly because it has an industrial look. Second and more importantly, I needed something powerful enough for light leather work. I had just built an ottoman, purchase a half-hide of leather and was ready to get started on my first ever attempt to upholster something. I looked at all the white/pink offerings and decided I needed something... less white/pink. Aesthetics aside, the purported "industrial" nature of this machine is not without some merit. I was able to easily sew several layers of this (lighter gage) leather without too much trouble. For my first foray, I may have been a bit ambitious... but it turned out great. The machine is very simple and quite heavy. It took no time at all for me to learn the ins and outs, and to master the correct pressure for an even stitch. While I have not explored the more complex features in depth, I am more than pleased with the functionality. I am more accustomed to power tools than sewing machines, but I consider this to be closer to the former. It looks the part as well, no need to hide it out of site to keep from being harassed. The build quality is quite fine, with a very "industrial" greenish hammered finish. There was more than enough space below the presser foot to fit padded items that needed stitching. I have since used this machine to sew patches on jumpsuits, sew harnesses, etc. It works great and I have never had a problem.

No frills - Just ABSOLUTE quality!

It is very difficult these days to find a heavy duty sewing machine, that just does that....sews! I didn't want a computer aided software device that was going to help decide what type of stitch I should do, or scan something in in order to perform it's function. (those types of machines are fabulous...when that is what you need) Just hard to find a machine that does exactly what you tell it....the first time. This little fella is strong, heavy, METAL body, and is absolutely the best sewing machine I think I have ever used. It is secure when sitting, and due to it's heavy metal design, it is hard to bump it out of place, or move it accidently. This machine can truly perform amazing functions for its size. I have been able to sew leather with it, and heavy boat-type canvas. I have even been able to sew upholstery with no problems whatsoever. I am very impressed with this machine, and I think you will be too. As close to a commercial-grade machine you can get....without the price of commercial!

Great Machine

I love this machine.  It sews very precise stitches and is well made.  The only thing I do not like about it is that it bounces around a little as I am sewing. It does do a good job overall.  I sew quite a lot and have used it for quilts and very thick fabrics as well as very soft and fine fabrics.  It is a little loud, but not as bad as my first machine.  Since I have upgraded to this machine I have been very happy with the overall quality of it.  I have not had any real issues with it.  It is a heavy machine, but I find that to be a good quality because it seems to be a rugged machine that can take some real stress.  It also came with a lot of great accessories that I have utilized fully.  It has many wonderful features including the self-thredder which I have never had on a machine before, so this is nice for me.  It was a little hard to understand the directions for this feature at first, but now it is simple.  My 16 year old uses it.

a bit loud, but it worked okay until my daughter knocked it over

I bought this sewing machine at a special sale at a local hotel, and at first I was really impressed by all of the functions. It even came with a free case and a free foot that allowed you to create perfect ruffles. However, when I got it home and set it up, I wasn't as pleased with it. The person demonstrating the different appointments was from the factory, and he definitely knew what he was doing. It worked pretty well, but I found that it was much louder than the Kenmore sewing machines. It also wasn't as smooth and consistent in the stitches--something I expected from a more industrial-type sewing machine. I found that when I used different types of thread (cotton, silk, multi-purpose, etc.), there was a variation in the way the machine stitched the fabric. When my daughter dropped it, and then it still worked (with a little help from my electronic-minded husband), I was very impressed.  After it was knocked over a second time, I thought my sewing days were over, but it still works! Although it no longer is able to complete a straight stitch, I am still impressed with the durability of the machine. If you are looking for something to use that is easy to transport on a daily basis, this may not be the machine for you. However, if you are looking for something that is good for very sturdy fabrics and is tough, then this is the winner! :)

The Singer HD-110 NEVER FAILS ME!!!

5

I received this sewing machine as a graduation present and began using it right away.  The instruction manual is super easy to follow and once you have the hang of it the set up time from "out of the sewing bag" to "sewing away" is very quick.  The variety of stitches, length, and tension are wonderful.  I always had difficulty with the bobbin thread dropping out on my old machine and I think I've had that problem maybe once or twice with this one and it was because I threaded the bobbin backwards.  I also used to have difficulty making even stitches with my old machine and there is absolutely no problem with this one.  I've practiced all the stitches and messed around with the tension and have been very pleased with everything I've tried.  My machine also came with a variety of needles for different fabrics and I've been very pleased with those too.  I haven't broken a needle yet!  I think this machine is 100% reliable and consistent.

Could not live without my Singer!

I have had my Singer for over 7 years now, and absolutely love it.  It is heavy duty, can sew through anything, and is extremely fast!  This machine is commercial quality.  I use the machine for sewing clothes, baby quilts, and craft projects.  No matter what I am doing, this machine does the job well.  It comes with different presser feet and needles, allowing you to sew through things such as denim or satin with ease.  I also like that the product manual gives instructions for everything from sewing a button hole to quilting!  Although it does not have as many stitching options as other machines, the quality of this machine cannot be beat.   When I have used other machines to get a different stitch design, ie, in the shape of a flower or a leaf,  I always end up wishing I had my Singer instead.  Other machines just don't compare!

The Singer HD-110 Mechanical Sewing Machine is a dream!

When I upgraded from my previous sewing machine to my Singer HD-110 Mechanical sewing machine I was skeptical. I was still able to manuver my old sewing machine to work for me and I didn't want to spend the money if I didn't have to. But my husband insisted and now I have a wonderful sewing machine that I never have to fight with. I spend a good deal of my time sitting at my sewing machine and since we've upgraded to the Singer HD-110 it has been so much more enjoyable to mend our clothing and create new items of clothing for myself, my husband and our son. Even finding these extra projects to do I still find myself having extra time on my hands because the Singer HD-110 makes every project a snap. I am very greatful to my husband for insisting that we purchase this exact model of sewing machine. It is, without a doubt, the best sewing machine that I have ever had the pleasure of owning. I would definatly suggest purchasing this brand if you don't already own it.
