NEVER AGAIN

I found it hard to set up, extremely hard to thread needle and it broke the first time I used it.

Great little machine!

I love this machine, I have had it for a couple of years and use it daily. I would recommend it to anyone who wanted a sewing machine at an economical price. If you are a crafter this little machine is a must. I was suprised at how much I have to use this machine, I bought it to use just here and there, but i use it a lot now.

Bought for granddaughter...she loves it.  I acutally like it better than my old sewing machine.  Easy to use, can create fun stitches.  Able to set up and sew very quickly.  I am not a great sewr myself, so I needed to have something easy to teach my grandaughter.   Simplicity made it simple for me to do so.

An excellent beginners model

This is an easy machine to use.  It provides a wonderful selection of stitches for you to chosse from.  It also makes doing button holes easy.  It is easy to maintain and is quite durable.  You can sew a variety of fabrics and thicknesss.  It's easy for new beginners to sew with (using it to teach my kids how to sew). I use it for sewing clothes and for my quilts (I machine piece them together).  You can do machine quilting with it as long as you have the appropriate quilting foot and the piece you are quilting is not too large.

Sew Precious is Sew Frustrating!!

1

I purchased a **Sew Precious** mini sewing machine from Walmart.com during an online special.   Priced just under 50 bucks, it seemed like a no-brainer investment to teach my stepdaughter beginner sewing skills.  This is an ultra-compact machine weighing just four ounces and is about ten inches tall and wide.  As you would expect, it's lightweight and easily portable. The sewing machine arrived with plastic bobbins, needle, threader, a spool of blue thread, plastic foot control and a mini screwdriver.  The carton also contained blue and pink fleece pieces and instructions for creating a beginner tote bag.  As for features, well, this is a basic model so I only expected basic features.  The zigzag and straight stitches can combine to make 10 different looks; there is a stitch length adjuster and a reverse function.  The machine and the bobbin (drop-in) are already prethreaded, wound, and installed.  Although the machine was already threaded, my frustration began when I tried to set the tension.  On our practice fabric the stitches were too loose.  Then, when I made what I thought were the correct adjustments, the stitches were too loose.  There doesn't seem to be a happy middle ground with this machine.   The practice cotton piece became distorted by the inconsistent stitch tension.  After 30 minutes of angst, I finally got the tension right, but because the dial doesn't lock into position, all it took was an accidental sweep of the hand against the knob to throw it off again.  Can you say **frustrating**?! My stepdaughter lost interest in sewing shortly after finishing her tote bag.  She did manage a small pillow, but there were so many glitches in the process, it's no wonder she didn't want to bother.  If I had it to do all over again, I would avoid the Sew Precious in favor of sturdier machine.  Another 50 bucks wouldn't have broken my bank, and still could have purchased a more substantial, less fussy, sewing machine.  In retrospect, teaching a beginner a skill on an unreliable machine will only lead to frustration For seasoned sewers, if you want a micro-sewing machine for very occasional and very simple tasks you might be interested in the Sew Precious, although I highly doubt it. My view is that you can do much better fthan the Sew Precious if you're looking for a basic, portable sewing machine without breaking the budget.

Simplicity sewing machine is a high maintenance little machine!

1

I've owned a Simplicity sewing machine, not for long time, but felt like it. The machine has more functions than my decade old Brother. But that's where the good things end! Like other reviews mentioned, as a new machine, Simplicity stitch tension could have been more stable. A few month into a new Simplicity, the stiches started jumping around, not just tension, but also the type of stitch. I tried to adjust the tension and the stitches all the time in order to make it work. Sometimes the machine refused to be righted, and only would yield when I threatened it with a trip to the manufacturer. About a month or two passed the warranty, the Simplicity acted up again. This time, no amount of tunning and cleaning on my part could bring it back. After checking with our local sewing machine repair shop, I decided against repairing this Simplicity and would prefer to use the repairing cost towards a new machine. I chosed a low end Kenmore to replace this Simplicity and have never look back. If anyone is thinking of purchase a lower cost sewing machine, instead of a good looking Simplicity, I recommend a nothrill simple sewing machine that is durable and does not require so much maintenance like the Simplicity. I do not recommend Simplicity, for any level of sewers!

great small machine with no confusing button simple to use

4

easy to use with one two stitches.  light weight so can travel anywhere.  Only set back is that everyone will want you to come fix their clothes!  No confusing knobs and overwhelming buttons so a beginner can use easily.  carrying handle for easy portablitity.  Have had large machines in the past and found that i only use the two stitches and they took up a lot of room.  This machine was the answer for me.  Great for big or small projects.  machine is threaded manually and is done easily.  New machines have the automatic threaded that jams once you try to use it.  This machine goes back to the basics with manual threading.

Simple but Cheap.

This unit is reasonably priced, but is very crude and cheap.  While trying to hem corduroy, the needle won't go thru the fabric, the thread keeps breaking, and is overall frustrating.  I guess if you just want to sew cotton handkercheif material, this would be fine.  When the bobbin is out of thread, you begin to dread changing it out.  Because it winds it so loosely, you find later, the thread keeps breaking.  It smells funny when you use it, like it is burning up, but after about half an hour, you either get used to it, or whatever was burning off has burnt off completely.  But then it comes back the next time.  And I'm not referring to dust. There are lots of good things about the product, however.  It is lightweight.  If everything is going well, it goes well for a while before you run into problems.  Mose all bobbins will fit it, so you don't have to redo all your bobbins when you buy this machine.

Lite weight and a good starter machine.

There are cons with this machine, but I like that it is light weight and portable.  Easy to take to a class or bee.  +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +=+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777
