Poor quality many better alternatives

1

Extremely cheap window with virtually no energy efficiency whatsoever. These windows are popular with contractors because they have HUGE PROFIT MARGINS since they are made so cheaply. They claim energy star, but this is just for the glass which may be energy star, but the frame and plastic that holds the glass is extremely cheap and inefficient and has huge air leaks throughout the window tracks----AVOID. Note If you live in a climate that doesn't require any energy efficiency and your windows do not need to be air tight, these windows might be okay, however, these windows are priced in the same category as high quality windows. These windows are really only good for quick, cheap replacement jobs where you will not be living in the house and do not need the energy efficiency of a quality replacement window. Unless you like overpaying for cheap products there are plenty of quality alternatives to Simonton.

Negative reviews for these windows are mostly from installation issues. I got a great install & I'm happy. Bought 14 high impact Simonton 6200 Vinyl (2 casements) due to Ca. fire safety code for bedroom access. No leaks, easy operation, reduced street noise and great look. Got significant energy bill relief from the first month. Great home addition.

These windows are poorly made and don't work like I was promised

1

I have had a 3 month ordeal trying to get new windows in my house. I finally got the windows in yesterday. I tried to clean the windows tonight and they now won't close, the top falls down and the bottom won't stay up. I will call the person who put them in tomorrow, but I am so dissatisfied with the quality of the windows, I would not recommend them to anyone and will not ever buy again. I wish I had my 28 year old windows back, they worked better than these new ones. I can hear whatever is going on outside and am afraid for winter to come, because I am sure that they will not be as energy efficient as my old windows. Stay away these windows they are terrible. It is not easier to clean, you have to hold two windows and it is very awkward trying to clean them. They come with no papers stating the warranty, like I was promised. I can't wait for the problems I am sure to have when I try to call for service and warranty information.

Simonton vinyl windows- Poor

1

Just purchased several Simonton vinyl new construction windows to replace my old one's. Went through a big expense to replace almost all in my home. Let me say that these are cheap garbage and were a downgrade from my old one's that were 20 years old. The pivot point hardware in the track is about as durable as a peice of duct-tape. You take the window out one time and they are so fragile that they don't function properly after you put the window back in. (They bind and twist easily or bend or break). Also, air comes right up the tracks where the window slides up and down. So forget energy efficiency. Wish I would have kept my old one's or chose a different brand. I made my decision to buy based on J.D. Power's high rating which must have a staff of grade schoolers putting together their questioneers for the customers. Highly NOT RECOMMENDED! Poor design and engineering. Please do yourself a favor and purchase from another manufacturer that makes a better quality product. For the Simonton suggestion box-Hire a new engineering staff.

These windows are great!

I really love my Simonton windows.  From the start, we noticed a difference in our electric bill.  Plus, they help to reduce noise.  I also love the fact that I can open them from the top-means my cats cannot knock out the screens like they did with our 25+ year old windows.

Best replacement window on market

5

Simonton Windows are very good and have a great reputation. Distribution is not the best though. Delivery is quick. Price is a little higher than most. Easy to install. EnergyStar rated so you can get a tax deduction this year. Colors are limited as are the interior finishes. GOod value over all.

CHALKING DO NOT BUY

1

WE built a house on Emerald Isle. N.C.  We installed SIMONTON WINDOWS.The windows are now what they say is (CHALKING) Below each window there are white lines running down the bottom of all the windows. They say this is not a manufacturing defect but is part of the vinyl weathering process. I have drove all over the island,I have not seen (CHALKING) on any other house. Would not recommend SIMONTON WINDOWS unless you want white lines running down the side of YOUR HOME.

Customer service is AWFUL...Rude and unhelpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Huge problem with condensation/ice. Was told it was our home and refused to send someone to look at the newly installed windows. Asked for advice on lowering condensation. Was told to open doors (it's 10 degrees here) and keep blinds open at night! Ridiculous. Avoid Simonton for the customer service! Once they have your money, their gone!

Wish I'd done it sooner.

We replaced all of our aluminium, single pane, sliding windows in our 1967 ranch style house.  We chose Simonton for their appearance, price and value, after shopping big box stores, and 3 other replacement companys.  Simonton was the best, hands down. Relacing our windows was the single best improvement we've made to our home.  The windows operate smoothly, fit perfectly and do a wonderful job of keeping out noise, drafts and heat transfer.  I like the lifetime replacement guarantee.

Safe and secure for cleaning and.... oh yeah, HURRICANES!

I've never been excited about windows until I had my double hung impact windows put in last year. They are not only easy on the eyes and noise barriers,  I have a sense of security that I didn't have with regular glass windows. Thieves can't break these windows nor can hurricane debris. If we leave for vacation or have a storm coming, I have one less thing to worry about. The double hung windows have a feature that lets you tilt the windows inward so you can clean both sides very easily. No more ladders on the outside of the house to climb to clean the windows on the second story.  I have had a few problems with the bottom sash coming off the track so the window can't lock. Fortunately, Simonton has very effecient customer service. I have called them twice and within minutes they have solved my problems with no hassle.  Impact windows are generally expensive and these are no exception but feeling safe, quiet and secure with easier cleaning is definitely worth it to me.
