In Shu Uemura Precise Volume Waterproof Mascara I found everything I was looking for. When they say waterproof, then mean waterproof. I've cried with this stuff, been rained on, been in humid Florida weather all day, and through it all - not a smear, not a smudge. You do have to invest in a good eye makeup remover, however. This stuff does not want to come off completely even with soap. The black is a true dramatic black that really makes my eyes pop. The brush makes the mascara go on so that my lashes are lush and long, but no clumpy yuckiness. I have had best reults when I apply two thinner coats (allowing to dry between) as opposed to one thicker coat. This makes my lashes so long in fact, that I have to be careful not to look up before it's dried, otherwise my lashes touch my upper eyelids and leave mascara marks! It is on the pricier side as far as mascara goes, but if a product performs in the end, I feel it's worth the extra money.

If you are lucky enough to have nice and thick lashes, you can probably wear one coat and still look amazing. However, almost everyone should try two coats. Make sure to wait couple of seconds for the first coat to dry to a clean finish. i found that you need to Wipe the tip of the mascara wand on a tissue before application. Also use a "lash comb" after mascara application to comb out extra blobs. Yes! Waterproof mascara is great for long-lasting special occasions like weddings (when you know you are going to cry). Also for someone who often touches their eyes, and is worried about smudging, waterproof mascara is a great solution. I think that Shu Uemura Precision Volume Mascara is the best one on the market. I use it everyday. It stays without smudging or drying out my lashes.

I spent way too much time researching different mascaras. I have tried all the typical recommended products. Over the years I have tried the following brands: clinique, lancome, prescriptives, fresh, origins, chanel, maybelline, and estee lauder. I was torn between trying the Shu Uemura and a few japanese gel mascaras to get some extra length. While in Paris, I stumbled in to a Shu Uemura studio store...it was amazing!!! I love this mascara, the Shu Uemura Precise Volume Mascara. It is a waterproof gel based formula. It is true to its word, goes on clump free in layers, and allows for you to build length and volume without much effort or skill. I wear contacts and have to be cautious about anything near my eyes. This does not irritate my eyes at all. My only complaint is sometimes if I put on thick layers, it can flake into my eye a bit. Another problem I have with other mascaras is the racoon eyes I get in Florida heat. The Shu Uemura gel base prevents this from happening! I can wear it all day in the heat, sun, and even at the pool and I still look model hot.
