Peace of mind with a bed rail

4

We have used the Safety First Bed Rail for years now. We bought it when my oldest was young and would climb into our bed with us, we were afraid that she would fall off the bed so we attached the Bed Rail to one side and it worked great for us. Eventually when she was old enough to transition out of a toddler bed to her own twin bed, we attached the rail to her bed and it is still working wonderfully.  It locks on well and I love that the length of mattress that it covers is adjustable. It removes fairly easily when I need to change the sheets and is easy to put back onto the mattress. Also the amount of times it has saved me from picking up books and toys and pillows that would have otherwise fallen off the bed in the night is innumerable! My child tosses and moves all night long so it is a great comfort to know that they will not be suddenly falling to the floor in the night. If my oldest has not outgrown the Bed Rail by the time her sibling needs it, I would definitely buy this same Bed Rail again.

Love this bedrail!!

We had initially tried out this bed rail on a family trip to Disney World.  The hotel provided this bedrail for my son's bed.  I had used other safety 1st items before but never really considered them since I can never find the brand at my nearest babies r us or toys r us.  When we bought our son his first twin sized bed, we searched for the Safety 1st Secure Top Bed Rail because of our experience with it in Florida.  I had to order two of them online through Kmart and we have been so happy with it.  Sometimes we catch our son sleeping with his face pressed up against it or his whole body against it.  It definitely does what its supposed to.  Not onl is it breathable but it holds my son's weight from falling out of bed.  Though we remind him that he shouldn't sleep that way, I'm not aure he can control it while he is actually sleeping.  We no longer have to worry about him falling out of bed.  Great product!

Safety 1st Secure Top Bed Rail is great!

We really like the Safety 1st Secure Top Bed Rail.  My daughter is three and is still using it.  She falls out a bed easily and we wanted something that would keep her secure and was still a breathable mesh so we did not have to worry if she got her face against it while she was sleeping.  She climbs all over this bed rail to get in and out of bed and it is holding up great.  I drag this along with us whenever we go to spend the night anywhere too, even hotels!  It's legs fold in and make it easy to carry.  It is difficult to secure yourself, but you definately want to make sure you get it secure, it slides out from between the mattresses too easily not to.  It is not very expensive so that makes it a nice item to have when you are transitioning from a crib.  The first one we bought was missing a peice so we had to exchange it so make sure you have all your parts before you put it together.  It was very easy to assemble.

difficult folding

2

This rail is cumbersome and awkward. Set up was not difficult, but all the bars and pieces to snap and twist made it seem like this was way over-engineered without much extra benefit. The "feet" that go under the mattress were so thick that the mattress was raised up on that side of the bed. Folding the rail up and down quickly is difficult. it was summer when we first installed the rail, so i did not have the sheets tightly made. they bunched in the folding mechanism and made the rail near to impossible to fold up again. i have since learned that I have to have the bed tightly made and then lay my son in from the wall side, not convenient or easy. The assembly is not meant for a foam mattress and platform bed. The two arms are rounded and are meant to stick out, so they are better suited for a box spring (see picture of item). This really isn't meant for regular folding up and down, it is too difficult. I would not buy the product again, but have no other rails to compare it to.

Safety 1st Bed rail keeps child safe.

We  transitioned  our  first  born  into  a  his toddler  bed/crib  when  he  was  just  18  months  old.  We  were  nervous  at  first. We  thought  we'd  try  him  in  the  bed  without  a  bedrail  and  he  fell out  within  minutes. I  then  hopped  into  the  car  to  go  to  walmart  to  get  this  bed  rail  and  ever  since  my  son  has  been  safe  and  hasn't  ever  fallen  out  of  his  bed!  He  is  able  to  climb  around  the  bed  rail  but  it  doesn't  move  the  bed  rail  enough  for  it  to  be  in  a  wrong  place  and  it  still does  the  job.  It  is  easy  to  put  on  the  bed  and  has  a  fold  down  feature  that  is  really  nice  (which  we  hardly  ever  use). This  is verstile  and  can  be  transfered  to  a  twin  bed  when  he  gets  a  bigger  bed  or  we  can  use  it  for  our  younger  child.  It's  a  great  product  and  its  worth  the  buy!

Love this Similac Isomil Advance Soy Based Formula

Both of my kids began crawling out of their cribs early and had to be put into a toddler bed before they managed to fall out of the crib and hurt themselves.  They were just not ready to sleep unguarded though so this product was a great discovery!  After just one night of running into their rooms late at night when they rolled off the bed, we went shopping for a remedy.  It's made from a nice mesh so air gets through to them but if they happen to roll against it it's not hard.  It easily slides under the mattress and onto the bed and is very secure once it is in place.  It's also easy for an adult to remove should you need to take it off for any reason.  The part that goes under the mattress folds up too so you can put it flat in a closet or under the bed for storage if need be.  It's also easy to work around when making the bed.  I give this product a big thumbs up - Oh and it's very reasonable too.

Good choice for little ones learning to sleep in a big bed

4

Our son has always been a roller and a thrasher in his crib, and often we would find him in the most peculiar positions in there. Then he figure out how to get out of the crib, so it was time for a big boy bed, but we were scared of how to keep him from rolling out of it in the middle of the night and getting hurt, so the first night of the big boy bed we picked the Safety 1st Secure Top Bed Rail up at Wal-Mart and attached it as instructed. He slept soundly through the whole night and never fell out! Wonderful product for giving mommy peace of mind! The only two downfalls are 1) I wish the fabric/mesh cover came off and was machine washable. As it's for toddlers and any mom can tell you anything you design for toddlers is going to get dirty :(. and 2) It is really tricky to attach to the bed by yourself, especially if you have a pillowtop mattress (we've attached it to ours when he was sick and slept with mom and dad for a night). My hubby had to show me how to do it a few times. I would still reccommend it.

This is my favorite bed rail!

A friend gave me her bed rail after her little girl grew out of it and I have to say I love it!  I had an older, metal one we used with our older children and it was so bulky and just plain ugly!  I was thrilled to get a safety first bed rail that was so much lighter and looked so cute on my little guy's bed.  I know he is safe with this on his bed and I don't have to have to worry about him rolling out of bed during the night.  I also like that this is durable and able to be passed down to younger children.

Very secure, well made bed rail, but a little hard to assemble.

As parents of young children, sometimes they end up in our bed, and since our bed is a queen it was definitely kind of cramped.  Making it worse was that, due to my concern about them falling off, we would end up sleeping on the edges ourselves.  Since purchasing the Safety 1st Secure Top Bed Rail, our bed has *felt* much bigger because we have more *usable* space.  Now my 2 1/2 year old can sleep close to the edge without me worrying about him falling off - so we all have more room and have more peaceful nights, even when he does end up in our bed! After I got it properly on the mattress, I was really happy with how snug and secure it is.  Especially, I was happy that there is no way for a little arm or leg to get caught in it.  It really attaches well and is a very good and very safe design.  Also, even when I pushed on it I felt that it would hold under pressure.  Cons: It is a little bit of a hassle to change the sheets as they need to go under the top clamp part.  Also, my brother assembled it for me and apparently it wasn't very simple to put together.  However, all in all this is a great product and I'm very happy that we purchased it.  I anticipate that it will get years of use in our home.

Safety 1st Bed Rails - great for travel!

4

We picked up a pair of these Safety 1st Secure Top Bed Rails for our children.  We bought them to travel with; our son always seems to fall out of bed when he's not at home.  The rails are very lightweight, but a little awkward to carry around (sometimes the legs will pop out of their storage position and it gets unwieldy). The rails are easily put in place, they have legs that pop into position and allow it to 'stand' and these legs slide under the mattress.  The rail stays in place all night, and the mesh fabric is sturdy and stays surprisingly clean. I do wonder how these rails would hold up if they were used night after night; I would worry they would slip out of place and give a false sense of security.  It's not meant to prevent kids from climbing out of bed, but simply to act as a guideline for sleeping children to not roll out of the bed. The only other issue I had with the rails was installing them in hotels - it always grossed me out having to push the rails under unknown mattresses.
