The Safety First video monitor is a wonderful product! It allows you to keep an eye on your little one all over the house and outside! We got this product with our first child and used it EVERY day. I could keep an eye on my sleeping little guy while I was weeding the garden, washing dishes or even taking a nap myself. It has a great range and has a color picture during light times and a wonderful black and white picture during dark times. The hand held monitor has a clip for you pocket so you can go hands free while you work and a stand to hold it up on your night stand. The camera portion can be mounted on the wall with the provided screws and cord loops and works great. It has a pivoting head so you can adjust it to right where you baby is, whether it be the crib or then later the swing! We loved this product so much that now that we have baby number 2 we bought a second set. That way we have a camera on both boys while we are upstairs in the master. It's a great safety feature so I always now my boys are safe. We also called the company and for a small fee you can purchase a second camera and use the same handheld viewer, due to the fact that it has an A/B selection button. This works great during nap time. I only have to carry one handheld and can switch back and forth. At night though I like the security of have BOTH handhelds on so I can hear both boys constantly. I would highly recommed this product to EVERY parent, grandparent, or caregiver, it's a must, put it on your registry!

I added the Safety 1st In Sight Video Monitor to my baby registry at WalMart. We were expecting twins, our sixth and seventh children. They would be sharing a room with their 5 year old brother and sister. I wanted to be sure that the older two were not bothering the babies. I set up the system and liked that I could see clearly in their room day or night. The camera was hard to adjust to look into the cribs though. There is no way to attach the camera to the wall, it has to sit on a table top. Then the trick was trying to adjust the camera so that the lense pointed in between the bars of the crib. I tried this with my husband looking from the other room and ended up bringing the monitor into the kids' room. There was some feedback when the two components were too close together so it was still a bit difficult to set it up right. I could not see both babies at the same time and ended up setting the camera across the room looking at the two cribs, not the babies. We placed the monitor in our room and found the microphone to be very sensitive. We heard every sigh and wiggle. But the monitor is very bright and interrupted our sleep. The picture was clear at the begining, but we found that there was interference from our telephone and television. Then, after about 6 months or so it started to act like the old style tube television sets. The screen started rolling and we couldn't get it to stop regardless of how much we tried to "hold" the screen. The picture became more and more fuzzy and eventually the monitor was useless except for the sound. I called the manufacturer and was told that they could not offer a refund or repair the product. They did offer a slight discount on another model. We declined. We decided not to spend more money with a company that doesn't stand behind their product. Very disappointing. It was a lot of money to use the product less than a year. There is no saving this one for the next baby.

This is a great product and worth every penny. The monitor allows you to see if baby is just fussing or really distressed.  We have 2 cameras, 1 for each girl and I use just one black and white monitor by my bed. LOVE these.

This is such a great monitor. Our son is now 2 going on 3 and we still use it from time to time. I loved the fact that when he was little we could see him from our bedroom. It gave me a sense of security that I was able to see him and hear him at all times. The picture quality is not the best. It is in black and white and the picture becomes blurry and grainy the further away the camera is. But it was a good enough picture that it served us well! There are only two channels to use and sometimes the frequency gets disrupted, but we can usually fix it by switching to the other channel. Another great feature is that it also comes with another receiver that uses just sound only. We use this one as a backup for another room if we are still up at night and just want to be able to hear him.  I will continue using this monitor for our next baby, and if it goes out I will not hesitate to buy another one!

So, I was very nervous about my daughter going into her own room when she got too big for the bassinette, and I already had a simple basic monitor. But I got over the fear, and learned to be okay. But then when I got pregnant with my second daughter just 22 months later, we had to turn our attic into a bedroom so that the girls could have their own rooms. So then I was really nervous. We would be upstairs sleeping, and they would be downstairs. I didn't know if I could handle that. So we went to babies r us and looked at monitors that had a display. We went with the safety 1st because it had a more reasonable price than the other brands that I hadn't heard of, and it came with 2 receiving speakers. One was a plug in, the other was a battery operated one. It has a little thing that we placed on the wall, that only has a very small green light to show its on, and my daughter has still never noticed it above her bed. It was a peace maker when we had to move our room upstairs, to know, all I had to do was look at the screen and she was there. Plus it had the ability to turn off the video, but still have sound. And it had a volume control dial. It was a great investment, and if it ever breaks, ( which its been going strong for almost 3 years now) then I would definitely buy a new one. On occasion I have reception problems and it gets a bit snowy, but you just have to move the little antenna around, and it clears up for the most part. You have to make sure you have a bright enough night light in order to be able to see the room well, it doesn't have to be real bright, we have a nightlight with a little bulb ( a typical nightlight bulb) and it works great. But when we give it a rest and use the fishtank light for the night, its hard to make out the images good.

When I purchaed the Safety 1st baby monitor I was expected a little more than what I got.  the monitor is not showing clear at all very fuzzy. It came with to many cords it really looks like it was made for kids to play with.  For a little bit more money I could have gotten a color monitor.  Some things are worth paying a little more for when it comes to the safety of your kids or grand kids.  I thought I was getting a good buy but you get what you pay for.

I do appreciate the Saftey 1st brand in itself and I did like the wireless camera and monitor that I purchased for my home. My issue was that when I began to use it the monitor went out only after 2 months, and it was of minimal quality when it did work. However, I do want to stress to all readers that my issue may relate directly to the particular box I purchased. I purchased it 6 months into my pregnancy so it was not used for a while, and it was purchased from a privately owned baby store not directly from Safety 1st. There is a possibility that the store is responsible for my issues with this product, considering the furniture I bought from them was not handled with care. I really did not need this product on a regular basis until my child reached his milestone of mobility and by then the 1 year manufacturers warranty was expired. As for the issue with the monitor, I have not heard of that happening to any of my friends who have the same product. This is simply my personal experience. The positives are that this product has night vision technology, it is wireless for convenience, and it reaches a suitable and safe distance. The sound quality is superb as well. If I still needed the monitor I may have purchased another.

oh my god i had my first child 7 years ago and i didn't know what i was going to do so a friend told me i needed to get a baby monitor because they work great so i went to the store and got one i wasn't sure if it was going to work or if i was going to like it but i tried it and oh my god i loved it.it was very helpful for me if she was napping and i had to be down stairs i could hear everything coming from her room and when she got up i heard her loud and clear and when she was sleeping i could hear everything even when she moved and that was great cause i didn't want her too be attached to me all the time when she was home so that's why i got a baby monitor cause they work great and i still use it today when she has friends over or playing in the back i can hear her and if she needs anything i would be right there with in seconds of her calling for me.so please if you are having a baby get a baby monitor they are miracle and life savers for busy moms.

This monitor was purchased as a gift for us for the birth of our second child. We had a video monitoring system with our son and relied on it heavily. This system has a camera that attaches to the crib for the closest view of your baby. It has 2 monitors; 1 black and white video monitor and 1 hand sound monitor. The hand monitor works with both electricity or battery operated for portability to be able to take with you. We have a 3000 square foot house and there is some static interference with this system. The antenna is static, so can't move it around for a better signal. Causes lines on the screen that make a static noise. The product states certain items can interfere with the reception, like internet and satellite. I do have both of these in my house. However, the previous product I purchased 6 years ago with my first son did not have this interference. Overall, the system is just average.

I am surprised at some of the other reviews, because this monitor has now lasted us through 2 kids, and over 3 years! I have dropped the television monitor part of it numerous times, the antenna is wobbly and, and I'm sure it's even gotten wet at some point.  The point is, the thing is still going strong, and thank goodness because we have come to rely on it 100%.  Our kids are (almost) 2 and 3 an they share a room.  Our daughter is still in her crib, and being able to "see" what they are up to has been priceless!  Like the phase our son went through when he wanted his "sissy" to be able to play with all of his stuffed animals, so he dumped them all in the crib on top of her.  Needless to say, having sight and sound has proven to be the single best invention when it comes to baby products in my opinion. This monitor has excellent range, picture quality, and sound.  It was not cheap, but by far not the most expensive either.  And 3 years later, we still love it!
