The Rival 4-Quart Electric Ice Cream Maker is quickly becoming a trusted appliance in my kitchen. With it's stainless steel bowl and lightweight plastic bucket, dasher and see-through cover, it's easy to handle and easy to clean.  Just a quick rinse, wipe dry and you're done. I've found the machine has an automatic shutoff feature, which kicks in after 40 minutes if I forget to check on the ice cream for a while! There is a small drain hole near the top of the bucket, so that salt water does not get over the bowl lid and into the ice cream.  However, I have rarely had the salt water drain out onto the counter during a normal cycle. I started out using the recipes in the Owner's Guide booklet, and the ice cream comes out fluffy and tasty every time.  Just be sure to stir the ice cream periodically after placing it in the freezer, so that it stays fluffy. The Rival Electric Ice Cream Maker will be a part of our family for many years to come!
