Slow cookers are a favorite way of mine to cook.  I love that I can prep in morning and have the rest of the day to work outside or do improvement projects.  When dinner time comes, I don't have to worry about it or spend a small fortune buying dinner out for 6 people. I received this model for Christmas and it came with a bonus little crock pot for heating dips or small soups.  So far it seems to perform better than my two other ones(not Sunbeam brand).  One runs real hot and can burn food, and one takes forever to cook.  But I have used them all extensively and they look like it.  I got the new one with the stainless steel exterior, and it looks much nicer in my kitchen.  The temperature is perfect foir the timing in recipes, and if left on warm my food doesn't get burnt. I haven't tried my bonus one yet, but I'm pretty sure I will on Superbowl Sunday.  I hope to have many years with this one.  Even though my others aren't perfect, I have used them both for over ten years now.

I love this slow cooker so much that I bought two of them. You can't go wrong with the Rival 6 quart slow cooker, as it makes a busy mom's life so much easier. I usually have the two Rival slow cookers going at the same time once a week (along with a 4 quartt rival slow cooker), to make our meals for the week. They are truly a great convenience. And they are affordable - you'll have them for years for such a minimal investment. We throw 8 chicken breasts, some stock and herbs into one of the 6 quart Rival slow cookers to use for salads, enchiladas, etc. during the week. The other Rival slow cooker gets a roast. We rarely brown the roasts prior to adding in - it doesn't make a huge difference, and is a time saver. Everything comes out moist and flavorful, and the aromas wafting through the house are a bonus. I loved the stainless steel exterior - it's simple to clean. I did receive a bonus lil' dipper with one of the 6 quart Rival slow cookers and it's perfect for parties. A great size for cheese or bean dip or for hot fudge sauce for an ice cream party. Rival is an excellent brand that makes slow cookers that last!

I have had this 6 Quart Rival Slow Cooker for 5 years now.  I almost didn't register for a slow cooker when I got married, but my then-fiance encouraged me to.  I remember my mom griping about her slow cooker when I was a kid - how it burned the food, made it taste bland or gritty, and wasn't worth it. Once we received the slow cooker as a wedding gift, it took me a while to find slow cooker recipes that we liked. Finally I found a reputable source of delicious, easy recipes, (Fix-It and Forget-It Series by Phyllis Pellman Good) we fell in love with the slow cooker. When I was registering for the slow cooker, I specifically looked for one with a dial rather than push buttons on the front. I've had enough experience with those types of push buttons breaking long before the appliance's useful life is over to know I wanted something less digital and more mechanical. The dial says off-low-high-warm. Those are all the settings I need! The only thing that is missing is a way to program it to start at a later time. That was tough when I worked in an office all day, because a few times we came home to burned food. But now that I work part time and stay at home with my kids, I have never burned food and don't miss the delay start feature. The crock insert is good quality, heavy, and easy to clean. The cooker cooks well and provides us with delicious, easy dinners.  One note - we got rid of the little dip warmer that came with this. It worked fine but I had no use for it. It's not the most attractive way to serve dips at a party, and I hardly ever find myself needing to keep such a small amount of food warm. It was tiny.
