Okay product.

I'm not sure if it's because of the use, but the front handle is wiggly, and my son often looses his balance on this scooter. As dose my niece. I just don't feel that this product is very sturdy. I would rather not recommend this for younger children, but a child 5 or older.

Great product, very stable.

My 3-yr old received this scooter as a gift today.  He loves it already.  If your child is developmentally ready and has the coordination to make the scooter move, it is very easy to use. Also, we don't have to worry about it tipping over.  The design is unique to other scooters that I have seen.  It has two wheels in the front instead of two in the back.  I think this design creates a more stable scooter.  The stability encouraged my son to jump on it right away.  This was a great gift and I would recommend this scooter to anyone.  My son is the perfect age for this product as well.

Only for the very beginners

It is a cute scooter, with the classic red radio flyer colors and a nice design. It is stable for a first time scooter rider. It is a three wheeled scooter with two wheels in the front and one wheel in the back, and turns with the turn of the handlebars. I only gave it two start because it is only for the very very beginning scooter riders. If your child wants to go fast or make turns, it is very difficult to maneuver. And kind of turning wil make the scooter tilt over to the side. So I would say it is only good for very young children only going straight on the scooter and very slowly. The scooter itself is made of good, sturdy material, but the useful life of the scooter is short. My son just loves to ride anything, so he did ride that scooter for about a year, but once we upgraded him to a kickboard scooter, he realized that scooters were meant to go fast and be able to steer without having to lift the whole thing up to correct it!

A GREAT first scooter for a preschooler !

The Radio Flyer My First Scooter is a GREAT scooter for pre-school ages.  My son is 3 1/2 and loves it.  The wide flat base and 3 wheels made it easy for him to learn how to balance himself and to push the scooter with his feet.  The steering doesn't turn sharply so there is less chance that he falls off.  He always wants to ride the Razor scooters that the neighborhood kids have so he loves being out there "just like them" on his own.  We purchased a helmet for him to wear for the just in case accidents ...as boys will be boys and they still can fall. Because we live in an area with snow and cold weather, he has been allowed to ride it indoors and in our basement.  The tires do not leave streaks on the floors at all.  The scooter is easy to store as it folds flat and is easy to carry along in the car for the park or traveling!   it also come in Red and Pink so the girls can have one that looks different than a boys!  Thank you Radio Flyer for understanding that even though moms want their children to stay small ...they want to be "BIG" kids !!

A great first scooter

My son received the Radio Flyer My First Scooter as a Christmas gift shortly after his third birthday.  It was super easy to get out of the package and snap the handlebars into an upright position.  It can also be folded back down again for easy storage.  The base is wide and has two wheels on the front which makes it very easy for my son to ride and balance on, even at such a young age.  It has not tipped over at all while he has been riding on it.  The scooter seems to be very durable and sturdy. I stepped on it and showed him how to use it the first time and he caught on very quickly.  Now he rides around on his own without any help from me.  I can tell my son has a lot of fun riding on the scooter and it gives him a lot of exercise.  This is a great toy for toddlers and preschoolers who seem to have never ending energy.  The only problem I have with the scooter is that it's a bit difficult for my son to steer, but maybe as he gets older it will be easier for him.

My First Scooter is perfect for 2-3 year olds

My son received this scooter for Christmas this year and so far he has loved it!  We live in the south, so since we don't have a basement, storage is always a constant issue here.  This little scooter folds flat and we just hang it on the wall in the garage.  I love that it has 2 wheels in the front, since it makes it less likely to tip and it's easier for him to be able to push with one foot and keep his balance on the scooter.  He absolutely loves riding it and we're thrilled with how much he's enjoyed it.  The only thing I'm not crazy about is that it has the plasticy type wheels and I would have rather seen rubber tires on it.  But, I haven't shopped too many scooters, so this may be the standard for most.  Regardless, he is happy and it seems to be a very safe choice for him to learn on and enjoy.  This was definitely a bigger hit than the tricycle, so hopefully it will keep his interest for quite a while!

Not as great as you would think.

I bought this item for my son's second birthday.  I thought it would be great because of the 2 wheels in the front verses other scooters with 2 wheels in the back.  It was hard for my son to keep balance on this scooter and he would tip forward all the time.  He disliked his own scooter so much he would ride his sister's pink scooter (with the 2 wheels on the back).  I think the wheel placement makes them hard for younger kids to balance themselves.

Perfect size for my little guy trying to keep up!

We love Radio Flyer toys so we decided to buy the Radio Flyer My First Scooter for our now two year old. He loves it! He is always trying to keep up with our four year old and six year old who have bigger scooters, and this works for him. Its perfect for stability and doesn't fall apart like alot of the scooters and outside toys have for us. He uses it on the macadam which can be rough on toys and it still looks great. I love Radio Flyer because the items last and they can be passed down and reused by your other children.

My 3 year old loves it-stable and easy to steer!

I really like this scooter.  My 3 year old son received it for Christmas.  When my mother in law mentioned that my father in law had bought a scooter for him for Christmas, I didn't say anything but was a little upset they would buy without checking with me...I didn't think he was physically ready for one and afraid he would get hurt.  However when I saw this and then when he tried it my fears were relieved.  It has two wheels instead of one in the front so is very stable, and also steers easily without tipping or turning over.  The area to stand on is big enough for his feet to be firmly placed either side by side or in front of each other-but either way it's wider and much easier to stand on than the long skinny scooter I was picturing!  He doesn't have any trouble balancing or standing correctly on it.  He jumped on as soon as we took it out of the package and was immediately able to figure out how to ride it.  Occasionally jumps off before stopping and it runs into things, but that's something he does, not a design flaw.  He's been riding it since he got it and has yet to tip it over or wreck like I was picturing would happen with a regular scooter.  Overall a great product-radio flyer quality, stable, and safer than the skinny two-wheeled scooters (as much as any ride on product is safe I would say...safety gear still a must for outdoor riding of course!).   And although it's not as much exercise as running around outside, it's still a good way to get him up and active when he can't be outdoors as much due to weather and no good area to play.
