I had been making homemade, customized shirts by cutting stencils in freezer paper with an exacto knife. It was very time consuming and pretty difficult. I discovered the Silhouette SD and got a great deal on it, the weeding tool, and some vinyl. I wasn't that into vinyl at the time, but now, it has opened up so many options for me. I just made a Christmas sign with the Silhouette yesterday. I use it pretty regularly to make signs, blocks, shirts, and other crafts. I would be lots without it. I love that you don't have to buy cartridges-- like you would for the Cricut. You could basically cut any jpg outline out by tracing the image. There is a lot needed to know to use the Silhouette, but there are a ton of tutorials online that will help.

I purchased this machine in December and it has changed my crafting life. It's awesome for scrapbooking, card making and projects I never would have attempted before. Not only do I use it for personal hobby use but I have been making my friends and family gifts for Christmas, Birthdays and other holidays. The machine is a wonder! Silhouette not only carries incredible products like vinyl, etching creme, magnet paper and sketch pens but the offer them for a great price as well. I love not having to buy cartridges. Their online store of images is awesome and reasonable as well. I can upload my own images. And the Silhouette blog gives a free shape a week. It's the best purchase I've made for my crafting hobby yet.

I have been wanting a die cutter for some time now. I did all my research and finally decided on the Silhouette SD. I love the fact that you don't have to buy very pricey cartridges just to be able to use it! Silhouette America has their own online store where you can hand pick the select images that you want to buy for usually 0.99 each. You can also get a yearly subscription at varying prices that are a really great value. You basically can get images as low as 0.14 per image with a subscription. Also, you can make your own images with the software that comes with the silhouette. I love that it can cut long lengths of vinyl to create a wall quote or saying. I got this as a Christmas present form my dear hubby that has decided to support my new obsession with crafting. I still haven't even touched the surface of what this machine is capable of, but I am looking forward to creating MANY new things in the new year:)
