Used to being a low-maintenance "shampoo girl," everything changed about my scalp when I entered my late twenties. I begin itching, then picking the dry, rough patches on my scalp when I was nervous or just bored. I thought it was a habit born out of anxiety until my hairdresser pointed out that my scalp was very dry. She suggested tea tree oil shampoo, so off I went to the natural food/products store in town and bought a big bottle of tea tree shampoo. It worked...for awhile anyways... Although my scalp was nurtured and softer, my highlighted hair began to lack luster and body. I relocated to another state where I found a new salon. My hairdresser here asked if I have ever tried the Pureology line of products. I have never heard of them, but "what was wrong with tea tree oil shampoo?" She explained that the benefits this type of shampoo had on my scalp were damaging to the rest of my hair. I bought the smallest bottle of Pureology that day. This tiny bottle lasted 2 months! I washed my hair every other day or longer if I could help it. Bye, bye itchy scalp, hello shiny, golden tresses! My hair is silky and soft, in addition to my scalp! Who would have thought that I could have both? Rarely do products turn out to be what they claim, but this shampoo is the exception.
