Not Much Fun

2

I remember playing on one of these when I was a kid as well as seeing my own children try to play with them now. We never bought one (we only played on them at preschool or at a friend's house), and I'm glad we didn't waste the money on it. For a young and light child, it will spin freely, but the child is often not strong enough to spin himself. When he gets big enough to be able to pull himself around, he is too heavy and the sit n spin will not spin freely. When the child is able to spin around, it's something that makes him dizzy and sick feeling rather quickly. It looks fun before you get on it, and it can be fun for the first few seconds. But pretty soon it ends up dizzying and uncomfortable. I've seen several kids get off of them with a rather sick look on their faces and an upset stomach (kids that could get it going faster). It seems like a fun concept when it's made, but it ends up being a lot less fun when you actually get on.

A classic toy, but not that great.

As a child, I remember using a Playskool Sit n Spin, and while it is a classic toy, my kids are not a huge fan of it. They complain about getting dizzy and have a hard time at spinning themselves around, so I usually just spin them around on it. This toy isn't that exciting and my kids get bored very quickly with it. I wish they would add lights or some distraction toys at the top to keep their attention.

Keeps her entertained

4

While I do wish I could've gotten my hands on one of the old blue sit n' spins, this one is good too. The older ones are much better made heavier sturdier plastic and maybe a bit bigger. In fact when I got this for my twenty month old I assumed that she wouldn't be able to use it for awhile. But it actually was a good size for her. And because it is a bit flimsier she can spin it. I don't know that I like the fact that now they have flashing lights and music on them. It seems to distract her from actually spinning around which I was hoping she would do. Plus the songs go on forever so it gets really annoying. I think when the batteries die out on it I'm not going to replace them. Back to the spinning. She actually can spin on it and it has kept her entertained for quite awhile. Much longer than I originally anticipated which was a pleasant surprise. Especially since I bought it right before we were snowed in for a few days. So worth the investment!

Family Favorite for Years!

5

My son recieved the playskool Sit n Spin as a gift for his first birthday. I think I was more excited than he was. It brings back memories of when I was a child.  At first my son was to young to really understand what to do with it, but he loved exploring it all the same. He started by just sitting on the floor while making the bottom move with his hands, then he went to playing with the music button on the top. Finally one day he figured out how to use the sit n spin properly (his dad taught him) and he stayed on the toy for hours (and I mean for hours)! My son is now three years old and he still continues to play with the Playskool sit n spin. The sit n spin has lasted three years of torture from my son. He has thrown it down a flight of steps, and jumped up and down on the top part where the musical button is, and it still works.  He has recieved many new toys, and he still plays with this toy very often. I just love to watch him enjoy a toy that I used to play with as a child.

classic yet fun toy

The playskool sit n spin is a toy that i remember having fun with as a child, and now my own nieces and nephews can enjoy the same spinning fun I had!  This toy is definitely a throwback as it teaches children motor coordination skills all while having fun.  If you have not been on one in awhile, you might forget but it does take quite a bit of effort to get the sit n spin propelled.  Once you do though, it is a lot of fun! The sit n spin comes in several different colors that can either be gender neutral or pretty in pink for your little princess.  Better yet, playskool has also released some that have characters placed on them so you can pick your child's favorites!  This is one fun toy that does not require any batteries, but you might have to do some minimal assembling.  Once it is together, they can spin to their hearts content setting the speed as they spin the wheel as fast as they can!

I would usually rate a product with the cost of the item in mind, but we received this as a gift, so I'm unsure of how much this thing costs.  Both my eighteen month old and my three year old have been playing with this toy, they even play with it together.  It's a bit dangerous when my son thinks he can stand on the top part, but with some more redirection he will figure out it's intended purpose.  It was very easy to put together, not one of those unassembled toys that takes hours to figure out.  Seems to be very sturdy as well.  The insert said that it can be used for children up to 100 pounds so it does cover a variety of ages.  Maybe they should make an adult version?  lol.  The colors are bright and appealing to my children.  It will be great for either indoor or oudoor use.  I'm sure it could provide some entertainment in the kiddy swimming pool, as well.  Playskool is a brand that I can trust.

hey all if u want your kids to get occupied for a long time this is one of the best toy you can get for because once they they started to like to spin they never get of from it,the spin has game like thing called simon says, and the kids has to do whatever simon says that is if  it says to spin they have to spin if it asks to stop they have to stop, its a good game,my kids laugh when they play in it a lot this is a good entertainer my kid played in it till she is five now also she likes to play in it,the only thing that i will say as a draw back is that it cannot spin properly in the carpet its little bit difficu for the kids to spin on the carpet, but it is very easy to spin on the floor,so when ever they want to play i will pu it on the kitchen which is the only place i have floor,so they  can  spin very easily on the floor, this toy is also very strong it didnt even break for my five year old daughter, overall its very good.

Time have changed and these spinners have too

2

I felt so nostalgic getting one of these for my soon to be year and a half old daughter a few months ago.  I had one when I was a toddler and absolutely loved it!  I was sure this would be a toy my daughter would remember when she grows up as well.  Now that we've tested the Sit n' Spin, I might just eat those words! The old Sit n' Spins didn't have a lot of bells and whistles or flashing lights like the new ones do.  They were very basic: just the spinner and stickers.  But what they lacked in fancy add ons, they made up for in staying power.  What I mean by that is they were both larger and sturdier than they're modern counterparts and would last years instead of months. The new spinners are both small and incredibly flimsy.  My daughter sits on it, pulls back on the handle in the middle and you can actually see it bend.  She doesn't even weight 30 pounds!  In addition, she's almost too big for the thing at under one and a half so we can only count on a few more months of enjoyment before she outgrows it. The cliche is true.  They just don't make things like they used to!

Great excercise for my two little ones!

4

My brother gave this to my two year old for her birthday.  He remembered that we had one growing up and he was excited to give her a toy that was from our generation.  Well, the minute we unpacked it from the box, it was a hit.  I have two little girls, ages one and two.  They will both get on it for an hour at a time! My oldest loves spinning her babies on it also.  I haven't put batteries in for the music, so I can't really review that aspect of it.  Fisher Price has always meant high quality toys to me, and the sit and spin is no different.  I love that it is easy to clean, and that I feel safe with my girls both using it.  THe added bonus is the workout they get while spinning around and around.  I looked up the price and for the money, you can't beat it.  It did require a small bit of assembly, but nothing that couldn't be done in ten minutes.  Overall, I gave it a 4, and will give it as gifts to friends!
