My son received this set of speakers for Christmas 2010. The box says "We look cute, but we party hard!", and indeed, my son says that these "Bump"!  These speakers are made by Philips, and they're compatible with both Mac and PC computers. Operating System requirements for Mac: OS X10.2.8 and above. Operating System requirements for PC:  Windows Vista and XP. The speakers themselves are white, black and yellow. The speaker wires run together and then at the end there are  two connector points. The first  plugs into a USB port,  and the other into the audio connector ( like a headphone jack) of your monitor. A really nice feature is the cable management area that's located underneath each speaker. Once you have the speakers set where you want them, you can wind any excess cord around a peg that's located underneath the speakers so you won't see it. It's a simple but  thoughtful design element.  My son really likes these speakers, and I think they would make a great gift for male or female and the  difficult-to-shop-for teens on your list.  The bass sound is rich, and the look is modern and fun.
