Long lasting, great for training.

I actually have four of these and I don't know what I would do without them. They are great for both cats and dogs. For my cats, I will usually put them away when I know my parents might be over since they are not as fond of cars as I am. The largest version is big enough to put a covered litter box and a couple of feeding bowls in there. These cages often have two or three doors, all of which have pretty decent, sturdy closures on them. I only wish they would install a handle if you wanted to place a lock in it. I also have a small one which I am using to crate train my new puppy. There is also a plastic tray which easily slides out to clean. These things really stand up to the weather, too. My mom kept one in the bed of her truck so we could take the dog with us camping on the weekends. It went through sandstorms, heavy rain, and brutal sunshine. After about a year, it started to rust a little, but that's it.

Kind of heavy, have to be careful.

It certainly gets the job done, and my dog loves his crate but I bought this because my mother and I tend to move a bit or we stay at a relatives house and we must keep the dog in a crate. With a seventy pound dog, this could be challenging at times but so far so good. Durable? 10/10. This thing has lasted well over 5 big moves and is still like new. Ease of use? 5/10. A seventy pound dog is going to need a big crate. This is certainly big enough but it is quite big of a pain to move around and fold up. I've crushed, bent, twisted, and cut up my fingers numerous times trying to close this darn thing up. You also have to make sure you're in a big enough area when folding it up because it flattens first and then folds over -- I made the mistake of trying to put it together while in a tiny space in the corner of my room. I've found the best thing to when you have to flatten it is to grab the edges with your palms, not your fingers, and just let it fall.

BICHON FRISE AND MIXES OF THE BREED

All of our dogs each have one of these crates.   They walk into it on their own.  They like being able to see what all of the others are doing.  They feel very safe.   They are not stressed out being able to have sight of the other dogs.  This makes us feel very comfortable using this crate.  You will be very satisfied with this  as we are and our dogs.  Bichonly,

Very durable and somewhat expensive.

I actually had two different wire cages. One was a medium one and then a large one. I used the large one for my pet great dane, Diesel. It was very dependable and expensive for that one. I also still have the smaller wire cage for my small dogs to bunk up together. It is perfect for small dogs. The bottom pulls out so you can clean it easily. It latches and stays together. It was a great buy, just wished it was a bit cheaper. Dog items are expensive now a days.

Sturdy yet affordable

These are great crates!  I find them at Fleet Farm and they are often on sale--great prices.  They fold down when not in use or traveling and fold up to provide secure, well-ventilated safety for your pet.  The wire is plastic coated and provides ample ventilation, and you can also hang a crate fan for extra cooling.  Multiple sizes from small to extra large.  If your dog isn't trustworthy in a soft-sided crate, these are a wonderful alternative.

I love this collapsible crate - very useful, not just for dogs!

I use the collapsible crate for my rabbit, and have used it in the past for cats and dogs at a shelter.  There are variable sizes available, and they are very handy, easy to keep clean, and easy to collapse and put away when not needed.  The bars make it easy to attach cage cards, leashes not in use, water bottles (for rabbits), and toys.  The locking door is easy to use and rarely gets stuck.  I would recommend pricing this item at various locations, however, as I do notice that some stores mark it up significantly more than others.  Also, no matter what animal you use it for, some kind of blanket or towel lining makes the floor piece much more comfortable.  When you're ready to clean it, the bottom piece slides out, although not as smoothly as this reviewer would prefer.  The bottom piece is also fairly easy to wipe down, as well. I highly recommend this crate, despite the sometimes-high price, and wouldn't go back to any other sort of kennel or cage!

Worth the money!

This is an excellent product. My daughter received a yellow lab puppy for her birthday and we have always been "an outside dogs only" family. As the puppy grew so did her enthusiasm and her chewing habits! We had to have a roomy place we could put her while we were not at home. This is perfect. She considers this her "sleeping place" and when she is tired so goes right to the door and stands there waiting for someone to let her in. I would highly recommend this product.

Pet Lodge dog crate injured our dog.

3

The crate is large and durable, however, about a week ago our puppy came in the house with a swollen paw.  He was healing from dew claw removal at the time, so we thought it was just an infection in those incisions - until we found large wounds on the outside of both paws.  We thought he might have gotten his paws stuck in the crate somwhere and injured them trying to get them out (my husband heard him making noise in the kennel that night, but just figured he was moving around to get comfortable).  I did a thourough search of the kennel and found several possible injury places.  Several of the wires were not ground off at the ends like they should have been, leaving very sharp catch points for him to injure himself on.  If you buy one, go over it thoroughly at the ends of the wires to make sure your dog doesn't get hurt!

Great for kitty time outs.

I use the Pet Lodge Wire collapsible cage for my kitties. Sometimes my kitties can be bad and I use it for kitty time outs. It's nice and roomy and the other kitties can make fun of the one being punished. It really settles them down after being in it.

Ok Product!

We purchased this crate when we got a first dog.  It took us a while to get it together but we did it.  The bottom plastic sheet that goes in cracked in over a few weeks.  However, it did work well and serve it's purpose.  We used it with our first puppy and then again with our second two.  It was great for potty training.
