Very cute patterns- Runs very small-

3

I liked the patterns this carrier came in and I purchased my size according to the website but when I got it, it was much to small. The website obviously does not accommodate for larger breasts. The style of the sling is also not adjustable so it must fit. It was snug on my chest and there was no way I could have even put my baby in the sling. I think that if the sling would have been larger then my baby would have sat to low in it and put strain on my back. Though this isn't this brand of carrier's fault it is just how the style is. Safety I was never able to actually put my baby in the carrier. Parents' Comfort This was much to small. Ease of Use You just slip it on- no hassle. Design Very pretty fabric and I liked the soft insert in the shoulder section. Durability Never got to use it.

I'd try another shell for your little Peanut

2

I really wanted to like the Peanut Shell Baby Sling, I really did.  I registered for the Vanilla Bean color which was very cute, and it looked so much easier to use than the slings where you had to wrap them all around your body and your baby.   Unfortunately, my daughter strongly disliked the Peanut Shell Baby Sling.  I didn't blame her.  It says it can be used with newborns, but putting her in it was like putting her in a little envelope.  It seemed really constricting, and I felt like I was constantly adjusting the sling so as to make sure she was getting enough air.  Trying to breastfeed her in it was beyond awkward, and it was tough to get her in and out of it.  Not ideal for when you want to try to put a sleeping baby down.  The fabric was rougher than I would have liked for a newborn as well.  After seeing some other slings that I'd previously not been interested in, I realized that there were many softer and better-fitting options out there.  I didn't think the Peanut Shell was very comfortable or secure; I was thinking about how not to drop my daughter or smush her while I was wearing it.  For my next little peanut, I'll be going with a much more adjustable sling.

Stylish and Great Customer Service

This is the carrier that started the love affair with babywearing in my house!  We wore our daughter in a microfleece Peanut Shell from the time she was 2 weeks old, and we NEVER regretted it.  We had never heard of babywearing, but we knew that the Baby Bjorn and Snuggli that we owned were just not comfortable for both our daughter and for us.  We searched online for other options, and I was struck by how unattractive many comfortable carriers were....until we found the Peanut Shell!!!  There are so many pretty, funky, manly, and cozy prints to chose from, and the customer service was just wonderful.  When my husband's pouch arrived and had a bit of a run in it, I called their customer service and was surprised to be speaking to the owner herself!  Alicia was amazingly considerate, and she knew how important it was for us to have a comfortable carrier ASAP.  She sent us a replacement carrier that arrived the very next day, and she told us not to send back our flawed carrier until we had received the replacement!!!  I was so taken aback at her generosity that I ordered a pouch for myself right away...and my daughter was one happy baby for every day that she was carried in her Peanut Shell!  We carried her in the Peanut Shell for many many months - first laying down, then sitting up, and then on my hip - she was snug as a bug, and so content to be snuggled with mom and dad!  We were happy to have our hands free, and have our baby happy...it left us free to carry on with our lives, and we were able to include our baby in all our adventures!  The pouch was also small enough to fold up in the diaper bag (unlike the Bjorn and Snuggli) which was an added bonus.  As for sizing, its true that both my husband and I needed our own sizes, but I didn't want to share my pink polka-dotted pouch with him anyways (and he liked his manly black one!).  Also, if the pouch feels a bit too big, then you can always fold down the shoulder to tighten it up a bit!  I loved the Peanut Shell, and would recommend it to any new parent as an easy-to-use, comfortable baby carrier.  Try it...you'll love it!

Be sure that you get a proper fit when buying this sling.

According to the package information, the medium size sling should have fit me perfectly, however, my son was riding too low in the sling and I was concerned he might fall out.  There is no way to tighten up the sling, so I was never able to get him to ride up a little higher or snugger.  I would have returned the sling to try a smaller size except that an out of town relative gave it to me as a baby gift and I did not have a receipt.  I thought about going to the website for the manufacturer, but they will not exchange a sling unless it is purchased directly from the website.  I ended up selling my sling since I couldn't exchange it and I was not able to wear my baby in it safely.

Peanut shell slings are the best baby carrier!

I was given a peanut shell at my baby shower with my 3rd child. I had used a snugli before with the other two and it never felt like the baby was comfortable. The peanut shell is wonderful! I love it! it was fantasic when my baby was an infant. As soon as I would lay him in, he went right to sleep! So cozy! Made it easier to get things done around the house, especially with 2 older children to take care of. I felt comfortable without knots or extra material hanging from me. It was also easy to nurse him while out and about while still being descreet. Now he is 9 months, I put him in it and he sits on my hip. Still makes it so my hands are free and he loves hanging out in it. I get so many compliments on it when we are out. I have also been asked several times where I got it and so I have referred so many expecting moms and moms with little ones! My husband has also used it many times and enjoys it. I did find getting the right size was hard at first, but once I figured out my size it was great! This is a mom must have!

A great sling for your "little peanut"

We loved this sling! Both my husband & I wore our youngest in this all the time. It was microfleece and nice in winter but not too hot in summer either. Our baby was very cozy in there and we could put her in lots of positons. At first she was always laying down but progressed to sitting up on our hip & it worked well at all stages. It is a pouch sling and very easy to get on and off. It's also easy to fold up & put in the diaper bag. The only problem was that is the size that fit me didn't fit my husband very well. There is not alot of room for adjustment since there are no rings or extra fabric.

Loved it when she was little

I bought this right after my daughter was born, and we loved it.  I found it really easy to use, and she felt really snug and secure when she was a little peanut.  People always commented on it when I had her out and about-- it was really cute.  But I could put her in it and start walking, and she'd sleep pretty much for as long as I walked.  I think she felt really secure like when she was in the womb.  We used it regularly until she was about 3 months old.  Once she wanted to be upright, I tried the different holds you were supposed to be able to put her in, but none of them worked very well.  She always seemed uncomfortable and didn't last long.  I kept trying, but once she could hold her head up pretty well and started being on her way to sitting, she just wouldn't tolerate it as much. I still recommend it though-- for those first couple months is was a life saver.  And that's the time she really couldn't be in other carriers, so it was perfect.  Just don't plan on using it for too long and you won't be disappointed!

It's okay... not as great as I'd hoped

I asked for the Peanut Shell as a gift because I thought (and had been told) I could breastfeed baby while in the Peanut Shell.  Sadly, the information I received was incorrect -- you cannot breastfeed a baby in the Peanut Shell. I also found that my little "peanut" did not like the 0-3 mo position of laying down and being tucked in.  I also didn't want her to get used to being worn and sleeping on me... I wanted her to sleep in her bed.  Consequently, my Peanut Shell went unused the first several months. Once my little "peanut" was big enough to be propped upright and hold her head, she did enjoy the sitting forward/legs crossed in front of her position but I found it to be not as sturdy as when she was in my Graco front carrier (kind of like a Baby Bjorn but cheaper).  Plus, I found it more difficult to get her in/out of the Peanut Shell than the Graco, and not as comfortable on my back since it goes over one shoulder whereas my Graco goes over both for more even distribution. I never even tried her at the older ages/weights in the shell becuase I also have an Ergo baby carrier and that worked MUCH better to carry her on my back where her weight was distributed across my hips and I truly had free hands.  While the peanut shell was cozy for her at the 3-6 mo age range, I wouldn't say it offered enough value for the spendy trendy price.  Go with the Graco or Baby Bjorn front pack instead.

A great sling for moms with a short torso

5

The Peanut Shell sling was the very first sling I purchased for myself when I first became a mom. My daughter was two months old at the time I purchased it. What I like best about the Peanut Shell is that it is perfect for moms with a shorter torso. I'd been given two other slings as hand-me-downs and they all reached too close to my thighs, so that my daughter bounced with each step I took. The Peanut Shell holds baby higher up, more toward the center of the body. This does wonders to disperse the baby's weight. The only think I didn't like about the Peanut Shell was that my daughter looked a bit squished and contorted while inside. Once she was older and had head control, I was able to carry her using the hip carry, which was much more comfortable for the two of us. Eventhough I own a wrap, the Peanut Shell is still my preferred carier. It folds up nicely and can be put on in a cinch. I prefer to use it after baby has better head control. I used the Peanut Shell with both my kids, and even with my toddler while 3 months pregnant. Very comfy to use.

I absolutely adore my Peanut Shell!

I recieved several baby carriers at my baby shower.  Out of all of them, I would have to say I use my Peanut Shell the most.  It's lightweight, simple to use, and my daughter loves it.  Unlike my Moby, with the Peanut Shell there aren;t any complicated wraps to learn and it was simple to learn to use.  I'm a big baby wearing advocate, but even if you aren't into baby wearing, I would suggest the Peanut Shell for outings as an alternative to the stroller. It was worth every penny and we will use it until she outgrows the weight limit.
