I picked up one of these from a garage sale and figured it might be handy when rolling out pie dough. The mat is silicone in nature and stays put when it is on a clean counter (no flour on it) and then when putting flour on top, it is easy to roll the dough out on the mat. Performance I love that this mat stays put and does not move on the counter like fabric does. I had an older fabric mat with wooden ends on it, and it was so frustrating I never used it. I usually can not stand silicone when it comes to baking, but in this case, I make an exception. This mat is very handy and helpful. Ease of Cleaning This is supposed to be dishwasher safe, but I prefer to wash it by hand. It is pretty large so you have to figure out a method based upon the size and depth of your sink. It is possible to clean it well in the sink though. Durability So far it is quite durable and easy to store too- just roll it up and store it in a place where it won't be smashed. Design I think that it is a nice design. It seems to be well thought out and designed. Doesn't Stick I guess it is habit, but I prefer to have a little bit of flour on the top of the sheet so the dough is easier to move around and manipulate.

*Disclaimer: I sell Pampered Chef because I love it, rather than the other way around.* I'll admit it: I don't make much by way of "pastry." But my husband and I do make enough home-made pizzas, pretzels and other doughs that I thought this mat might come in handy. And it does. I love that I don't have to scatter flour all over my counter-top in order to roll out a dough. I use my pastry mat and then carry it to the sink where it can be dumped and washed. No mess on the counters or the table! The measurements are extremely useful. We make a Russian dish called Pelmeni - much like a ravioli - which requires us to roll long snakes of dough and cut it into one-inch pieces. Using the pastry mat, we can measure the length of the dough roll and then accurately measure the pieces. And the one time I made a pie crust, the round measurements were very handy ;) The only thing I don't enjoy about this mat is the difficulty in cleaning. It is dishwasher safe, but the dishwasher never seems to do an adequate job of cleaning. And cleaning a large, silicone mat by hand can be a little unwieldy. But it works out. Overall, it's a good purchase - especially for one who does a lot of work with dough. Ease of Cleaning This product is dishwasher safe, but the dishwasher does not seem to do a very good job, as it is an awkward shape for the machine. Thus, I find it is easier to clean by hand.

I ordered the Pampered Chef Pastry Mat at a friend's Pampered Chef party and anxiously awaited it's arrival.  As someone who loves to bake, I was looking for something new to use when rolling out pie crusts and cookies.  For a while I had been using a cloth pastry mat, and it just wasn't cutting it and it was really difficult to get clean.  I loved the idea of this non-skid, non-stick mat.  My first time using it was to make two different batches of Christmas cookies that require you to roll out the dough.  As soon as I laid the mat down on our counter, it didn't budge.  I dusted it with flour, and went to town.  Nothing stuck to the mat and I wasn't chasing it all over my counter.  Furthermore, it's very large and allows you a nice surface to roll out larger amounts of dough.  My cookies came out perfect!  When I was done, I was able to wash this mat with ease.  It says you can put it in the dishwasher, but I chose to handwash.  In just a couple minutes it was washed, dried and put back for later.  Much faster than my fabric mat.  I'm now trying to find the perfect reason to get it out again and try making pie crust.  It has wonderful guides on it for rolling out different size crusts.  I think I can safely say that this will get a lot of use in our kitchen for years to come!
