I have super bad allergies when it gets really windy and dusty, so I bought this to try to clear out some of the dust particles and also the pollen that are in the air. I have this in my bedroom because it is not a very big unit and does not purify large rooms really well, it works better for something smaller like a single bedroom. I really like this unit and it works really well to get rid of all of the dust and pollen out of my room, I get instant relief when I go in there when I am having problems breathing anywhere else in the house. The only thing I have to complain about is it is hard to find the filters anywhere for it other than online, so it is important to try to keep an extra few on hand all the time for when you have to change it. It is small and fits nicely on top of a dresser or anywhere in the room and it is very quiet and does not make a sound at all. We have never had a problem with it and have had it for four years and it still works just as well as it did when it was brand new.

I am only just starting to have any kind of technical issues with this air purifier and it's going on seven years old. It's a hard working air purifier that lasts! These days I tend to just run it at night, although there have been time periods where I have run it all day every day for weeks at a time without issue. It's great not to have to replace the filter and the spray cleaner is hard to use for me (it makes me sneeze!), but my mom is kind enough to clean it for me about every four to six weeks and it is the only product we've found that actually cleans it thoroughly and quickly. If I don't run this unit at night, I wake up congested in the morning (old house).

After buying the wrong type of air purifier/ionizer, I got this Oreck Air 8 Series, after serching online for reviews for air purifiers. I was expensive but worth it. If you have ever had a pee pee or poopie litter box that happened while company is in you home, you know how embarrassing it can be. This air purifier clears the air so quick your company wont get more than a whiff at most. This works good on diapers, pet odors, cooking odors, garbage pail smells, and regular dust and stale air. It is super quiet and actually has the soothing hum you would not expect from something so powerful. It is so good I am thinking about replacing all the air purifiers in the house with these. It works really well and so quick you will be amazed and glad you bought one. And can be used around animals and medical devices that an ionizer cannot be used around.

oreck products in the first place are really good i have this flat air purifer and it is pretty good. it is not heavy to carry but also you dont want to risk carrying it around alot. **PROS** portabble that you can place it in pretty much any room including the kitchen it helps circulate the air in a room especially during hot humid summer the ait purifier can easily be place on the floor or on a shelf due to its flat bottom. the purifer is powerful enough to freshen the size of a Master bedroom or less it is not bulky so it takes up no alot of space the air purifier is very simple and not complex to use **CONS** there is non that i know off **Recomendation** its good for people with allergies also if your air purifier should encounter a problem contact oreck for the best support and they can redrect you to somewhere nearby your home to get it serviced depending on how often you use the air purifier you need to change the filter about every 4 months to keep that fresh air.

I am enjoying my Oreck XL professional air purifier.  It keeps the air in my bedroom clean and dust free.  I feel that I sleep better because of the fresh smelling air that flows out of my Oreck unit.  It runs quietly and almost provides a white noise effect to block out annoying sounds to also promote a restful night. On several occasions, I have moved my unit into the kitchen area to remove bad odors.  Once after burning some potatoes on the stove I tried running the unit and it was amazing how fast it cleared the air.  I also use it when I run the self-cleaning feature on my oven and the house gets that awful smell from the stuff burning out in the oven.  It also was great to take the smokey smell out of the house when we had fires in the vicinity and the odor of the smoke drifted into the house.  We do not have cigar or cigarette smokers in the house but I would expect that the unit would handle that type of smoke as well.  If you like fresh air without using those unhealthy chemical sprays, I would recommend that you give the Oreck a try.

We bought the Oreck Air Purifier with Ionizer about a year ago and I think it works really great.  It has a built in ionizer that catches big pieces of dirt particles and breaks them down over and over making the air a whole lot better. two people in my home are smokers that smoke a pack each per day and the Oreck Air Purifier and Ionizer in the smoking room works great to keep the smell down and you can literally watch the smoke being pulled into the machiene .  I like having the Oreck in my home because I also have a 2 year old son and I dont him exposed to all the nasty things floating around in the air so we have one in almost every room in the house. I would definatly reccommend this to anyone who has children at home or just because it actually works I love this air purifier and im not planning on buying any other brand anytime in the future.I wold tell anyone who asks to do the same.

I bought the Oreck Table Top Air Purifier about 2 years ago and was satisfied by it at first. It also ran quietly, which was a benefit since I had it close to our television. I sat it on top of my television so that it was higher up and could filter the air in my basement. It did keep the smoke smell down from my fireplace, but it did not get rid of odors like the manufacturer said it would. I did not like the cleaning that I needed to do each month with the filter and the inside metal part. It took time to take it apart and then I had to wait for it to dry before I could put it back together. Although I liked it at first, It did not last very long and quit working after about eighteen months. I would not recommend this air purifier due to these drawbacks.

My husband bought two Oreck Air Purifier units on a BOGO. One went to our daughter in law with severe allergies.The other was for our household's use. Our daughter in law really loves the Oreck Air Purifier. She says her allergies have improved since using the Oreck Air Purifier. We have a cat and a dog. When the Oreck Air Purifier is turned off because of cleaning and maintenance, I really notice a difference in both the smell and the amount of pet fur flying around our house. The Oreck Air Purifier really keeps pet and other household odors to a minimum. The filter is a bit hard to change. The only real drawback is the price but our Oreck Air Purifier has served us for several years, so the cost is worth it!

I read the other reviews for this product, and all I have to say is that if you spend the money on a unit like this, you need to know how to -- and expect to take a little time to -- maintain and TAKE CARE of it. This is an awesome product. We burn wood in a wood stove and use this air purifier to keep the air clean of smoke and particles, which it does very well. It also keeps our home so free of pet smells that even people who are allergic cannot tell that we have two dogs and a cat. As for cleaning the collector cell, you must use a good dish soap in the water -- not plain water, as the manual suggests. Get some Dawn, and all you have to do is soak the filter for half a day or so, rinse it with water, and make sure it is dry before you put it back in the unit. That's part of the technology, and even putting it in damp will ruin the collector cell. (Oreck has a great warranty program if you do screw up and need a replacement, like we did at first). As long as it is fully dry, you just put it back in, hold the reset button, and it will be cleaning your air again in no time!

we have a cat and dog and this makes the air seem fresh all the time.  It has three settings and we keep it on low when we are in the room and medium to high when we are not using the living room.  Also, It eliminates unpleasnat cooking odors from the kitchen such as fish, onions, cabbage, etc.  I would highly recommend it.  We have had several others and filters got to be costly to replace periodically, but this is one you can clean and reuse.
