I would not buy again

I use this product as little as possible. I find the cord design very difficult to use with arthritis it should either have an automatic return of some sort or the cord should have been designed to wrap easily at the top instead of having to maneuver it around the bottom. I have had this vacuum for over 10 years now and hated it even before the arthritis started because of the cord arrangement. Also could use a large diameter hose since I use mine to try to clean up around house plants that do not move easily and it does not handle the leaves that drop, it will pick them up for awhile but clogs really fast.

Makes cleaning the little things much easier

A few years back, I purchased an Oreck XL vacuum.  Along with this vacuum, I got a free Oreck 2 Speed Ironman Canister Vacuum.  I figured it would be good to get in the corners and along the edge of the floor, but it has been a wonderful tool for my laminate floor stairs.  It has much better suction than your typicaly small portable vacuum.   I don't know what I would do without this vacuum.

I loved this vacuum...at first

This vacuum is also known in some Oreck Home Stores as the "Pet Vac", and is also sold with an optional floor head with a turning beater brush.  When I went to Oreck to purchase a small, portable vacuum, I was surprised that the employees informed me the floor head that came with this model wasn't a very good value, and allowed them to talk me into an extra purchase - a belt-driven type floor head.  While I loved it at first (and the employees were right - the floor head that comes with this model is useless on carpet), over time I noticed the beater bar turning slower and slower until it wouldn't pick up on carpet at all, and was only marginally better at picking up on bare floors.  Like some of the other smaller Oreck vacuums, it also has a very short cord, and I find myself unplugging constantly.  The dust cup is hard to empty, and you must make sure you line up the arrows just perfectly in order for it not to fall apart (spreading trapped dust around).  If I had it to do over, I've have gone with a different vacuum all together.

All right...soo here we go....we were surprised abou this in several ways. This guy had a lot of pluses but there was one big negative I want to get out of the way -- it was VERY LOUD! Were it not for this, I was rave about it. I thought it was really cool that this little cannister vac had ATTACHMENTS! It was really easy to use and had a shoulder strap. This made it immensely easy to go about the house cleaning all the corners and crevices. It seemed to have good power and it also had HEPA filtration, I believe. For all the little cannister vacuums out there, this little guy had alot of good qualities, Oreck just needs to get the volume down on this little thing. Anyway, we were very impressed at how easy it was to use and at how versatile it was. BUT, the price tag on the thing was also quite high. I don't know if any of the Oreck shops have any flexibility on pricing but I didn't get the impression that they do, unfortunately.

Oreck Ironman: If only Tony Stark would vacuum for me...

**Oreck 2 Speed Ironman Canister Vacuum**Several years before [Iron Man][1] the movie, I had my own Ironman.  I loved the movie and I really like my Oreck Ironman Canister Vacuum.  Like Tony Stark, my Ironman is overall good and very handy but also like Tony Stark, it has a couple of flaws.  We purchased the 2 Speed Ironman Canister Vacuum for two purposes: to have a lightweight vacuum for doing the large stone hearth around our wood-stove and to do the carpeted stairwell and landing with out having to lug out a heavy vacuum. My Oreck 2 Speed Ironman Canister vacuum has served both of those purposes well and I have also found it convenient to use in many other places as well.  **Features of the 2 Speed Oreck Ironman Canister Vacuum:**1,000 watt motorlight weight at 7 lbs.rolls easily or light enough to carryworks on carpet or bare floorsquiet*2 extensions4 attachmentsWe got a 30 day risk free trial and a three year warranty that we've yet to need.  Although we originally purchased this Oreck Ironman to use on the hearth and stairs, I have found it really convenient to use for many purposes.  I use the extensions for cobwebs in corners, baseboards, appliance return vents and ceiling fans.  Our home has large open spaces and I still prefer an upright with a larger vacuuming service for the majority of the house but I have found I use this one much more than I anticipated.  It is perfect for the kids to do their own rooms because it is light weight enough for them to easily handle and it is great for going under beds and furniture where no upright has ever fit.If you're only doing relatively smaller areas and light weight is key for you then the 2 Speed Oreck Ironman Canister could work well as your only vacuum and be your own personal Ironman to defeat dirt bags everywhere.Like Tony Stark, even the great vacuum heroes have flaws. My Oreck Ironman has a wrap around cord feature instead of a automatic rewind.  Call me spoiled but I love a cord sucker upper thingy on my vacuums.  Also, because it is so lightweight, at times it topples over on its' side and this is just slightly annoying since I am not going far but something for Oreck to think about when they improve their Ironman suit, I mean, canister vacuum.  *Oreck labels this vacuum as quiet.  That is a relative term I know and while I wouldn't have called my Oreck Ironman very loud, I wouldn't have rated it as quiet either. My Ironman does do a great job vacuuming.  The suction is powerful and I never have to go over and over sections.  Last year when I steam cleaned my carpets I saw just how well my Oreck Ironman worked.  A picture can say a thousands words and the water I had to empty after steam cleaning my carpets where I had only used my upright was gross!  The water from cleaning the carpets that I used the Oreck Ironman on was barely dingy.  I have a new upright on order...I'll let you know the verdict on that one.***My Viewpoint:***I am glad I purchased the 2 Speed Oreck Ironman Canister Vacuum.  While, I still require an upright for large areas, my Ironman is really is a super hero helper on carpets and under furniture ***"where no upright has gone before."*** [1]: http://www.viewpoints.com/Iron-Man-reviews
