Maybe it's because I weigh my food, and not my body, but I really do love this scale! After years of doing with a sub-par food scale that relied on springs and a needle-type gauge, I finally gave in and decided to buy a good digital scale. The OXO Good Grips Stainless Food Scale was recommended to me by a friend who owns one and uses it several times per day. She had tried other scales but none of them compared to the high quality of the OXO scale. Some of the features of this scale are: 1. There is a zero function which allows me to place a bowl on the scale and then cancel out the weight of the bowl to start the scale at zero. 2. The display pulls away from the base, which is necessary when using large plates or bowls. 3. There is an optional backlight on the display that makes it easier to read the numbers. 4. The display also has an indicator that shows how much more capacity is remaining. This scale weighs up to 11 lbs. so I haven't had to worry about going over-capacity, thank goodness! It's important to note that this scale uses 4 AAA batteries, which are included with purchase. I've been using this scale for several months and haven't had to replace the batteries yet. Now that I've successfully used the OXO Good Grips Stainless Food Scale, there is no way that I would use another one. I'm very happy with this product and highly recommend it. Ease of Cleaning There really isn't anything to clean unless you spill something on the scale. In that case, it would most likely wipe off very easily. The stainless steel platform is removable for easy cleaning. Durability I've been careful in how I handle this but so far it has been very durable and I foresee no problems in the future. Design I like the design of this scale. It is flat enough to easily store in my small kitchen drawer.
