Lacks the power of a traditional mop and the ease of a Swiffer

3

I bought one of these mops for my old apartment because i wanted something more compact, less messy, and easier to clean than an old-fashioned cloth mop. Unfortunately this mop only fulfilled one of these requirements and it didn't do nearly as good a job on my floors as a cloth mop would have. While the mop *is* compact, it is really too small to effectively clean a large area and half the time it just ends up re-distributing the dirt rather than cleaning it. It also doesn't seem to absorb whatever cleaning solution I'm using very well, so I end having very damp floors that don't dry very quickly because the sponge head of the mop just drips everywhere. Finally, when cleaning the mop I noticed that the sponge ended up keeping in whatever dirt it had managed to pick up and it developed a weird smell after a few months of use. If you have no other option or you just want a mop to do some quick cleaning that you plan to throw away, this might be a good option-- however the price of the item might end up making it worth less than the effort of just using a regular cloth mop.

It's just a mop

A mop is not just a mop unless it is a wonderful mop you love. This mop is just a mop in my opinion. I am still searching for the perfect mop and this one is not it. It does the job I intend for it to do, but I would like to find a better one. So for the things I don't like about it: the roller doesn't seem to squeezed out the water good enough for me. I don't want it completely dry, but this still drips to much water for me. The other thing I don't like about it is the part that rolls on the sponge keeps popping off (just the one side). It's kind of annoying to have to keep fixing it. The mop sponge is dirty and I have to use my fingers several times throughout the use. The sponge seems to do a good job of cleaning. It just might be only because the mop is well used and older that it is just wearing out. So it's an ok mop, just not spectacular. I like my Mr. Clean magic eraser mop slightly better than this one so I would recommend the Mr. Clean over the O Cedar.

It's okay if you are in a pinch.

To be honest. I would really just save my money and use a rag and soapy water. My husband bought this mop for a second home, just in a hurry buying cleaning supplies. The head on the mop is very small, so you don't clean a lot of square footage at once. I don't think it cleans very well because you are really only wiping dirty water over your floor. Then you have to rinse it and struggles with the squeeze thing. It would really be a lot faster to just get on your hands and knees if you could. Ultimately, this mop just ended up being a waste of money and sat in the basement for a year and a half. The only positive about this mop is that it has this little scrubber on the front of it. You just turn the mop over to use it. This is really good for cleaning the grout on tile. I'm just glad this mop didn't cost any more than it did. Save and look elsewhere if you are looking for a good mop to last a long time.

I don't know what it is about mops, but I am always on the search for "the right one"...kind of like the ultimate conquest. I know it's out there, but I'm afraid I will never find it. And....I still haven't. Enter the O Cedar rollomatic mop. Mop number 4...or 5...or so. I'll admit it, I was initially attracted by the color--a bright, cheery "clean" looking yellow. This mop features the option to replace the head, it has a "rollomatic" type wringer, and a nicely sized strudy handle. The mop head is held in by little green roller things, that allow you to pop the head out for replacement. The handle has a feature that will wring the water out, by pushing down on the handle part that makes the rollers squeeze the mop head. It works....ish. First off, the green things that hold in the mop head are reallllly tough to use. They come off if you aren't careful, when you put on the new head, and they are so tight that it takes a LOT of force to pry the head off. But, at least it doesn't fall off when you are mopping. The rollomatic wringer does work, but again, you have to be pretty strong to get the thing to "roll" to begin with. You have to puuuuush the part on the handle down and it almost makes you want to just slop the water all over to just not have to do it. I'm not thrilled, and I will keep looking for my perfect mop. In the meantime,at least I have this one that does the job of mopping (and I still like the yellow).
