I love that the first ingredient is real protein not protein meal. My cats both like it and don't turn their noses up when I serve it. Quality of Ingredients Most of the ingredients are foods I've heard of, real chicken or fish, not meal by products. Includes vegetables and rice all names I heard. It is all one color so it's not dyed and that is healthy. I think it is a healthy product for them. Looking at the ingredient list I recognize most of the products that go into it. It even includes tureine which I know cats need. There is a healthy mix of protein, including vegetable protein. Flavor Selection There are several flavors, I've tried most of them, my cats like Chicken best and I prefer it to fish which tends to smell like fish. My cats seem to like all of them regardless. They even have one for finicky cats and my cats can be finicky. There are times they will cry if I put something out they don't like and they are hungry. I will find it still in the bowl. They don't do that with Nutro. I've tried several flavors and the cats love them.

Despite my cat's robust frame, he was surprisingly finicky. We could never figure out why he was so plump when he barely seemed to eat anything. He turned his nose up at most dry foods unless they were drizzled with a bit of canned on top. I grabbed a sample bag of Nutro Natural Choice Healthy Weight Indoor Formula Ocean Fish Adult Dry Cat Food at my local pet store when I went in for something else, and figured it would be met with the same reservations as all of the other dry kibbles we tried with him. Boy was I shocked when he grabbed the package and ran off with it. He couldn't wait for me to get the bag open! The ingredients are not the best, but they're far from the worst. It's a middle of the road quality kibble. The price is about what you'd expect to pay for a non-grocery store brand. The kibble size was perfect for him, it was easy to chew and that is crucial for a lot of cats. The smell was very appealing to him. It was a little too fishy smelling to me, but I'm not a cat and I don't like fish, so take that with a grain of salt. His coat looked wonderful while he was eating this food, thanks to the omega fatty acids in the formula. And what I liked most of all was that the litter box odor was far less offensive on this food than on previous diets we tried him on. He didn't really lose any weight while eating it, but he stayed steady at the weight he was at, so that's also a bonus. All in all, I recommend it.

I adopted an adult cat who was eating Friskies Indoor Delights. She liked the food but visited the box frequently and left smelly, sometimes too-soft results. Yuck. I read various reviews about what to feed cats with sensitive stomachs, and by far the Nutro reviews were glowingly positive. I sucked up the extra cost (twice as much or more as the Friskies) and honestly, I will not go back. My cat wasn't crazy about the chicken formula, but she can't get enough of the Oceanfish! And the reviews were right on; she frequents the litter box less often, leaves less there, and it's not as smelly! I am a total cheapskate, believe me, but I am very willing to pay more for the Nutro brands because they are superior in every way and better for my pet. Since I have less litter clean-up, the cost probably evens out in the end. Good value, good product. Not sure if it's made in the USA (I hope so!), but the headquarters are in TN and the bag boasts that the food is produced in their own facilities. Bonus!
