Why Do My Premiums Keep Increasing?

4

Northwestern Mutual Life is the fourth company that we've tried for life insurance. So far, the rates have been the least expensive offering comparable policies. However, every few months, we keep getting letters in the mail explaining that our premiums are increasing...yet again! The first increase was because the agent miscalculated the benefit based on my husband's weight. Apparently he was fifteen pounds to heavy to qualify, but we were never told the qualifying weight. All other increases have not been explained, and our agent is quite difficult to get in touch with. We met him at a friend's party. He connected with us and then invited my husband to play golf. During this time, he introduced Northwestern Mutual Life and promised that he could get us the best rates. We also asked him about opening a Roth IRA, which he was not yet licensed to do. He has not gotten back to us regarding this issue. My experience so far has been the same as with every other life insurance company. The agent works really hard to get your business but then leaves you hanging.

Great Life Insurance Policies and Great Customer Service

5

I've experienced no issues with Northwestern Mutual thus far. I have them for life insurance and have had them for about 4 years now. I love that I don't have to pay too much attention to it, and know it's being taken care of perfectly. I feel like the prices and plan options are great. Customer Service The representative I worked with to sign up for my whole life insurance was friendly and truly cared about the plan that was best for me. Even though he's since left the company, I've been placed with yet another great representative. I had an issue with nearly every company when I had to change my name after getting married, but Northwestern Mutual was one of the most pain-free experiences. I called, received a form to fill out my name change (and to add my husband), mailed it in, and it was effective in just a few weeks. Available Plans I thought the options were great for what I needed when I joined, but I can easily change how much I put into my plan each month so it doesn't matter too much what I chose.

Northwestern: Solid Company

I worked for Northwestern Mutual Financial Network for four years and through that time, found them to be a very solid company. They have been in business for a very long time and have a good reputation for good reason - they pay their claims and have high standards for customer service. While other companies will often try to get out of paying a claim or pay as little as possible, I witnessed Northwestern pay when others wouldn't have several times in my time there. I think that one reason for their success is that Northwestern has constant training for their employees and agents. There are rigorous standards in place for staff, agents, and managers at every level at the company. My own experience with Northwestern Mutual as a customer has been great as well. There are a lot of different quality products to choose from. Their customer service is good, our agent has been at the company for a long time and makes time for us whenever we need to meet with him or his staff. We receive regular updates in the mail with regards to the products that we have, and our agent tries to keep in touch with us as well.

I have been with Northwestern Mutual for over 30 years.I have had Disability as well as life insurance --both whole and term--with them. This company takes a conservative approach and was not put at risk by the recent economic melt down. The rate of return i.e. dividends has always exceded the company's projections.I have policies for myself my wife and my 30 year old daughter--all of which now have a substantial cash value.(While It is not a substitute for a real savings plan these dividends can add a tidy sum to retirement income.)The company actually has its customers best interests at heart,I have also had the same agent for the entire time--which is also a plus. I would recommend that anyone needing insurance include this company in their review of likely insurers.

Great service with loyal and dedicated representatives.

Northwestern Mutual's life insurance surpasses many of the other companies out there.  It has very competitive rates as well as great customer service.  I would give 3 thumbs up to Northwestern if I could!  I have been a client of Northwestern's for over 4 years and could not ask for a more dedicated representative to handle my finances.  They don't just sell you a product, they actually ask you what your goals are and what your plan is now and produce the best plan for you for you and your families future.  Northwestern also offers a variety of other products for you and your family, such as disability insurance, long term care insurance, and investments, including college planning and retirement instrumetns.  If you are searching for a representative to ensure your future financial security, Northwestern Mutual would definitely have to be the best bet.  You can see that their ratings are higher than any other company.

My Northwestern Mutual Disability Policy has saved our future.

As a practicing dentist, I was stricken with Parkinson's Disease at age 60. Having raised three children, providing financial assistance for them to graduate from college, and then...weddings for our two daughters, circumstances had allowed us to save precious little extra money. Idealy, I would practice another 5 - 10 years, bringing in a young, eager associate, who would transition into the practice, then buy the growing practice, thereby optimizing its value. Thanks to the strong, sound advice from my Northwestern Mutual agent, I had taken out life insurance in 1989 with the "Select 100" policies, and trusted my agents recommendation to also protect my future ability to provide income in the unlikely event of accident, disease, or illness. Without his sincere efforts to protect me and my family, our future would look much darker today. When I learned that I had Parkinsons, my first concerns were focused on myself...would I soon be in a wheechair, like so many of the patients I had observed in the waiting room at the Parkinsons Center? Over the coming months, my neurologist reassured me that though Parkinsons is still an incurable, progressive neurological disease, modern medications, and sometimes surgery, can help a great deal to lessen the more unpleasant symptoms. My Northwestern Mutual Disability policy protects me in the best way, " **within my occupation." **This means that I'm covered if I can no longer do the same work I did before the disability occured. Obviously, practicing dentistry, with shaky hands and impaired skills was no longer possible for me, nor safe for my patients. After consulting with my neurologist, I decided I must sell my practice and retire immediately. Along every step of the way in this whole process, NML has proven to be very helpful in seeking to help, never hinder, the provision of benefits. For this, both now and in the future, I am extremely and forever grateful.    Most Sincerely, Paul S. Forsberg, D.D.S.

I would say it is a great product for life!

We have purchased Northwestern whole life for our grandchildren.  They are performing as anticipated and far above that of another major life insurance company that we used for our first grandchild.  The service we received in Texas with Northwestern was not as good as that we have received in SC, GA, and MO.  The dividends have been as good as originally projected and have increased the value of the policy.
