I purchased this Nordic Track several years ago, when becoming a mother made the prospect of getting to the gym unlikely.  Since I suffered a knee injury years ago, I was additionally seeking a cardiovascular workout that would be easy on my joints.  A physical therapist recommended the elliptical trainer as being the best option, more gentle than stationary bikes or running on a treadmill.  So, I purchased this rather bare-bones Nordic Track and got to work!  Like any piece of exercise equipment, it does take up a fair amount of room, so I have mine in my garage.  I use it daily for about 45 minutes, and this has helped me drop weight after two pregnancies and maintain a healthy, lithe body.  My friends often ask me what I do for exercise, and I am always proud to recommend this machine in conjunction with some strength-building exercises.  Don't expect a lot of bells and whistles from this machine.  It does provide a basic calorie count, but from what I have heard, many of these machines are far off the mark in that department.  The time elapsed and distance features are a better gauge of progress in your fitness regime.  This machine will give you a great workout, and will make you sweat.  If that's what you're looking for in your fitness program, this is a terrific option.

I bought this about 5 years ago before I ran for excercise. I loved it.  It was the perfect way to start to get in shape.  As I got stronger I started running.  I prefer running now to the machine.  I feel like I can no longer get a great work out on the elliptical machine.  If I stay on it long enough to get my heart rate up for a while my feet go numb.I wish there was a way to combat that.  One great thing about it is, when I can not get out and run it is a good enough work out.  It was my saving grace while I was pregnant.  I could not run when I hit seven months of pregnancy.  This elliptical kept me in the good health I needed to develop and deliver a healthy baby.  It has 4 built in programs and the iFit program (which I have never used) I do wish the bottle holders were bigger to hold my mamouth sized water bottke. All in all it is a really great machine even now that I am back to running.
