Great Breakfast or Anytime Treat w/ Coffee

Nonni's Biscotti is hands down my favorite brand of biscotti. I absolutely LOVE the texture they get. It's actually hard to believe it is also the most reasonably priced brand available at any of the stores where I shop. I wonder why people are spending such exorbitant amounts of money on biscotti's that are so incredibly hard they are almost difficult to eat. I have not yet found a flavor of Nonni's that I didn't like, mint chocolate, while not my absolute favorite, is still a great one. What I love about the texture of Nonni's Biscotti is that it is soft enough that you don't have to soak it and soak it in the coffee just to get your teeth through it. Just a little dunk and your ready to go. Biscotti is one of those treats that can just make a breakfast so much more special. It's always appreciated when I have offered it to friends with an afternoon cup of coffee as well.

One of the greatest things about the United States - with all due respect for people who support that Draconian "tough on immigration" law which just passed in Arizona - is the diversity of its cuisine thanks to the presence here of people from all over the world. Italian-Americans, who were (like most groups of immigrants who come to our shores in great numbers) were just as discriminated against as Hispanics are now, nevertheless have influenced American eating habits since the late 1800s.  Such "all-American" favorites as spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, calzones, and, of course, pizza would not have come to be part of the American menu had the Italians stayed away from our shores. **Nonni's Biscotti** (Italian for "biscuit) are cookies which have been baked not once but *twice, *which gives them a particularly crispy mouth-feel.  They come in several flavors, but in general they are delicately sweet rather than being overly sugary. *Nonni's Biscotti grew out of true Italian tradition. In the little town of Lucca, Italy along narrow cobbled lanes surrounded by elegant piazzas, our Nonni (an endearing term for Grandma) made biscotti to share with family and friends. When Nonni came to America, almost a century ago, she brought the family recipe with her. - *From the package blurb. Though Nonni's makes other baked products (such as the not-sweet *panetini*), its mainstay is the *biscotti *line, which, according to the company's web page, is "the number one selling biscotti in the country." Now, I've tried several different varieties, but the ones I consumed the most of are the biscotti from **Nonni's Bestlife **line, of which the **Mint Chocolati **are a product. *The classic Originali biscotti dipped in gourmet bittersweet chocolate, is now baked with a cool mint flavor. This new biscotti recipe creates a deliciously minty twist on an old favorite. *From the Nonni's web page. **My Viewpoint:  **Now, I happen to *love *snacks which include a mix of chocolate and mint; the few times I've bought Girl Scout cookies I've always purchaed the Junior Mints variety, and every so often I try to get York Peppermint Patties. Thus it wasn't a big surprise to me when I tried and liked **Nonni's Mint Chocolati **a few months ago. Each package of **Nonni's Mint Chocolati **biscotti contains eight indivually wrapped cookies, which are golden brown and have a layer of bittersweet chocolate on top.  The biscotti have a delicious not-too-sweet flavor which is enhanced by the layer of chocolate and the added tinge of mint flavoring.  They're pretty crunchy because they are baked twice, but they also are fairly brittle and can break while you're removing the plastic wrapper. On the whole, **Nonni's Mint Chocolati **biscotti are pretty handy to have around; you can eat them as a snack between meals or consume them in lieu of toast with your morning cup of coffee. (That's what I did today!)  You can buy **Nonni's Biscotti **in large chain supermarkets (think HEB, Publix, Winn-Dixie) in most areas, or you can purchase them direct from Nonni's at **http://www.nonnis.com/products/products.html **if your local grocery doesn't stock them.
