They come in a fair amount of colors, they protect the phone if you drop it, also help prevent scratches. The thing is however that if you are a woman and you put your phone in your purse you have to make sure the screen is not facing something like keys or pens. It is a hefty phone and the screen is incredibly scratch resistant which is good, but it being a touch phone the case does not cover the screen obviously so you do need to take care of it more than the back and sides that are protected by the silicone case.
