I have been using this product for the last five years until recently when the last of my hair fell out. My hair had been failing out for years and I was getting embarrassed by the results. During a visit to my hair stylist, she listened to my concerns and recommended that I start using this product to minimize the continuous thinning of my hair. This product helped me prolong my eventual baldness. I really enjoyed the way this product interacted with my scalp and it really gave me confidence in that it really helped keep my hair. Genetics were against me, but science helped to delay it's impact. Effectiveness This product was very effective in helping me prolong my hair until my eventual baldness. This product has a fantastic effect on my scalp and I really have to give credit to this product. It has been strongly recommended by my hair stylist and I would have been bald much soon had I not used this product for the last five years. I love Nioxin's System 1. I first discovered Nioxin earlier this year by accident. It was in the shower and I just decided to try it. As it turns out, I really loved how it smelled and that it cleaned my hair of residue other shampoos left behind (my biggest shampoo peeve)! I've been using it since. Effectiveness Like I said earlier, I like Nioxin's System 1, in part, because of how excellently it cleanses my scalp/hair. While I did not purchase Nioxin because it targets fine/thinning hair, I do have fine hair and a lot of it -- perhaps Nioxin helped make it even fuller! One thing I don't like about System 1, though, is its conditioner. The shampoo is great, but there is some ingredient in its conditioner that I am allergic to. I prefer System 3's conditioner, which does not have the same effect. Scent The smell of Nioxin's System 1 Shampoo is wonderful. It is nice and clean smelling. It makes shampooing my hair a delightful experience.

If you're on a budget, Nioxin shampoo is probably not for you. Nioxin does tend to be a little bit more on the pricey side. If you don't mind spending the extra money though for great, thickening results, then this may be the shampoo for you! The smell is wonderful- kind of a minty, refreshing smell, very gender neutral (my husband, by the way, loves this shampoo as well). I noticed the first use how much thicker my hair looked and felt. My hairdresser told me not to use it daily or at least give your hair a clarifying traetment each week, because it can leave your hair with extra build up. If you decide you're going to buy this product, I recommend buying it in a gift set. A lot of times it's the same price as a single shampoo, but it comes with a conditioner as well! Overall, I think Nioxin is a great shampoo if you have fine or thin hair. It smells great, thickens, and makes my hair feel soft. O

I'm your average male - gaining waistline and thinning hairline.  I struggle to find a shampoo that is adequate for thinning hair that doesn't smell harsh, leave a residue, or require a 'treatment'.  The Nioxin System 1 shampoo is the perfect shampoo for my needs and it works as advertised.  The smell is kinda refreshing and helps wake you up in the morning.  The shampoo has a minty, or winterfresh, scent, that doesn't stay in your hair (so you don't smell like a piece of gum after showering).  Spend about a minute or so lathering before rinsing to ensure you gain maximum effect.  According to the label the Nioxin System 1 shampoo provides a perceived thinkness to your hair - it does not mention hair growth, actual thinkening, or any other benefits.  As advertised, the Nioxin System 1 shampoo works as advertised.  Your hair will feel thicker and more managable.  For me that is important.  I found the shampoo at a warehouse store which helped keep the cost managable.  I would recommend trying the Nioxin System 1 shampoo if you are like me and have thinning hair that needs a little ooomph!

 I absolutely love this stuff. It is well worth the money spent on this product. Nioxin System 1 gently cleanses and removes environmental residue and (DHT) also known as dihyrotosterone which is a hormone that builds up in the scalp and causes hair loss. It has a cool tingling sensation that makes your scalp feel so clean and fresh. Its like peppermint on your head and very stimulating to the scalp. Nioxin system 1 also adds thickness from inside the cuticle and strengthens the hair shaft giving your hair that look of fullness. It also helps provide a more healthy looking scalp complexion. It is formulated with vitamins that provide moisturizing nourishment for the hair and scalp. I use this system even though my hair is not thinning. I just think it's a good idea to start early with knocking out that (DHT). This system's shampoo also has a very good ph balance which you can tell from the way it lathers so well and it also rinses away clean. The skin on our head is very important too. This product will help you have a healthy scalp. Try it! Your hair will thank you later.

I have had fine/thin hair my entire life.  I purchased the Nioxin 1 in hopes of seeing some results.  Over a period of several weeks I noiticed new hair growth near the scalp.  I have struggled with fine/thin hair all my life and being able style this type of hair is a problem.  After using the product for several months I have noticed a marked improvement over the beginning.  My hair is thicker and I see new growth near the scalp.  It did not change the texture of the hair but there is more hair which is great.  With the use of other Nioxin products I can see a difference in the texture.  It is great to know that there is Nioxon to help with the problem.  I had friends recommend this product to me for years but just put off trying it.  Now I am very glad I took the time to try it.  I did not receive immediate results but over a period of time I have noticed marked improvement.  Thanks Nioxin for making the product over the counter.

Nioxin System 1 was recommended to me by my hairdresser.  I am in my mid-late forties and have natural gray hair that is thinning quite a bit on top.  All the females in my immediate family are struggling with this problem.  I have used Rogaine for Women for over five years and really have not noticed much difference except I do not lode as much hair as i used to.  I have been using the Nioxin System 1 for six months and can notice quite a difference.  I seem to be losing fewer hairs and my hair looks thicker, shinier and much more luxurious.  I use the shampoo and scalp therapy (conditioner) once a day.  It smells great and pepperminty.  Not only is my hair much fuller and the thin spots smaller it is also flake free.  Prior to using Noixin I suffered with occasional dander/styling product buildup flakiness, but no more.  My scalp is healthy.  This propduct is really worth a try especially if you have tried other products for thinning hair with no success.  It is a little pricey, bu it is super concentrated and a little goes a long way!!!  Great Stuff!!!
