***Quick View:*** Years ago, I used **Nexxus Aloe Rid Shampoo** to clarify my hair and get rid of the chemicals and styling products that built up on it. I also was a chlorine swimmer and wanted to get that out of my hair. The shampoo worked great. Fast forward many years and I am using the shampoo again. And it still works great!**About Nexxus Aloe Rid Gentle Clarifying Shampoo** This shampoo comes in two sizes. One is in a 5.1 ounce tube, the other a 13.5 ounce bottle. The shampoo is a blue see through formula with a very fragrant scent. Ironically, when I was looking for a picture for this review, I ran across a website called "testclean.com" and it said that this shampoo used daily will rid your hair of drugs and toxins before a drug test. Ok... Anyway, I have no big drug tests coming up but I do have build up from mousse, gel, hair spray, color, etc. I use this shampoo once a week or so to get my hair squeaky clean and rid it of all that gunky stuff that my usual shampoos leave behind. Because this is a clarifying shampoo, it is stronger than normal shampoo and, because I have colored, somewhat dry hair, I don't use it on daily basis. I don't even think it is meant to be used as a daily shampoo. It is a clarifying treatment that strips the hair of build up from styling products without stripping the color. When I am finished using this shampoo, my hair looks and feels so clean and much lighter (as in weight not shade). It styles better and simply IS better because it isn't dragged down by a lot of residue. Once a week or two depending on your level of build up will keep your hair super clean and shiny. Use it before any chemical process to get best results from the process as well. **My Viewpoint** I used this shampoo for years and then moved on. I saw it on a website recently and bought it again and am glad I did. It really improves the look of my hair. My hair is so long, it goes well below my bra strap. That's some OLD hair at the ends and it has color and styling aids built up over the ages. This shampoo rids my hair of all that and leaves it fresh and ready to start all over again. The best part is no color stripping! Great stuff for occasional use (or more if you have oily hair). ***5 stars for an old favorite***.

I just bought the new Nexxus clarifying shampoo and well, all I have to say about it is that: it's pretty average.  I had a lot of build up and dirt in my hair from camping all week, and was excited to come  home and try it.  I was able to clean my hair, but it really wasn't all that different than from my previous shampoo and conditioner set (Clariol Herbal Essences' "breakage prevention" shampoo and conditioner).  True, my hair was shiny and very clean but I guess I really didn't see anything special about the Nexxus clarifying shampoo.  I would probably still use it, but I wouldn't pay as much as I did for it.  I would only buy it if it was on sale AND I had a coupon.  Maybe it would work better if you regularly use products like gel, hair spray or have color-treated hair.  Other than that I wasn't extremely impressed but also would probably use it again if it was made available to me.
