I've been feeding my dogs Nature's Variety Prairie, alternating between Venison, Chicken, and Beef, ever since the previous brand I was feeding them was sold to a company that participates in animal testing. My dogs were on a grain free diet, but were a bit gassy. After a talk with the owner of the Doggy Shop, we realized that they needed a bit more grain in their diet. After researching ingredients in various brands, I settled on Nature's Variety Prairie. My dogs have done very well on this food. Their coat is shiny, gas has decreased tremendously (I live with a gassy Boston Terrier), and they love eating it. I mix in a little bit of wet dog food, about a tablespoon in each bowl, every night and they come running when they here the spoon hit their bowls. Also, my chihuahua is a finicky eater and he loves this food. I actually get to see him eat, unlike the brand we were feeding them before. Overal, it's a great quality dog food at an affordable price.

I can't remember the first time I tried a Nature's Variety Prairie product.  I think what happened is my Pet Food store stopped carrying my usual food so I had to look for another.  I have to get something that does not contain corn as one of my Chihuahuas have allergies and a sensitive stomace.  The other is a billy goat and doesn't care if she is fed an old shoe.  So I try to find something my delicate Chi can handle. The food is a little pricy, though not as bad as other 'natural' dog food, but I decided to give it a try anyways.  I am so glad I did.  My delicate Chi who was licking away all the fur on his paw stopped licking as the food provided the vitamins and minerals that his system was lacking.  He also keeps it down well and eats it pretty good, so it is a winner.  The billy goat is happy, too, but like I said, she is happy with just about anything. So the bottom line is that the price is worth it as the product is alot more natural than some of the dog food out there and my dogs not only look healthier, but they act healthier.

Upon first trying Prairie dog food I was a bit skeptical.  How can one food do so much for a dog?  Our dog is a shih-tzu / bassett mix.  He is now 16 years old.  Before starting the Prairie dog food he had issues ranging from dry, itchy skin to troubles with his ear and bowels not to mention arthritis.  Even a few weeks after starting our dog on the Prairie food we noticed a difference.  He was walking better and didn't seem to be in pain (gauging this by his lack of whining when going up or down the stairs).  He was actually running around with the other dogs!  He coat is much healthier and he no longer needs special baths due to his skin problems.  We say that he will outlive both of us due to the drastic change in his behavior.  We do switch the "flavors" around to give him and the other dogs the needed nutrients they get from each Prairie food.  The price can be daunting but it is holistic, natural, human grade food.  A dog owner could eat the food if need be!  I highly recommend this food to anyone and tell people who I know own dogs that they should make the switch as well!

This is one of the best pet foods available. It does not have corn or harmful by-products and fillers like ALL of the grocery store brands have. We feed this food to our 2 dogs and have seen such positive changes in them since beginning this diet. Both have gorgeous skin & coats, great muscle tone and no more of those awful tear stains on their white faces! We also love the Raw foods made by Nature's Variety.
