Perfect Coffee Maker

5

We use this drip coffee maker every day. We have had not one problem with it. It brews a full pot of coffee in 10 minutes. It keeps the coffee hot on the hot plate all day. We drink multiple cups of coffee throughout the morning. We have had our Mr. Coffee for about a year and a half. We buy a specific brand of coffee only and trust this maker to give us a great cup of coffee. We've frequently had guests ask us what coffee we use and how we brew our coffee. We LOVE this coffee maker. The instruction manual is a great help if you have any concerns.

Worst Coffee Maker ever made!

1

This is the worst coffee brewer ever made. Obviously, Mr. Coffee doesn't like their customers and the proof is this machine. The prankster who designed this thought it would be fun to put two holes in the back of the water container so the water would spill out the back onto your counter when you poured water into it if you put more even one drop more then it needs. The second prank is that the swing arm spout that the water comes out of is too short, so the water comes out along the side of the filter holder instead of the center. The result being the since the water only comes out on one side , during the first half of the brewing process, only the coffee on one side of the dispenser gets wet, while the coffee on the other side stays dry. Ultimately, due to the third prank, the coffee on the other side finally gets wet. That third prank is the hole at the bottom of the filter holder is too small, resulting in the holder flooding up to the top. This results in water going in-between the filter and the filter holder, carrying floating coffee grounds with it which results in coffee grounds ending up in the pot and ultimately your cup. Lastly, the 'ON' light is way too dim. It can barely be seen during the day. The fixes would be simple.1). Don't put holes in the back of the water container. 2). Make the water spout longer so the water sprays into the center of the coffee filter instead of on one side. 3). Make the exit hole bigger so the coffee filter doesn't get flooded and spill grounds into the pot, 4). Make the 'ON' light brighter.

It worked at first. But things began falling apart

3

It worked OK for about 8 months then the coffee filter thing broke and it spills all over everything. And I mean if you don't catch it fast enough you going to be cleaning up for awhile Brew Performance It spills all over the counter and the floors if you don't catch it in time. If you catch it in time the coffee isn't to bad. Ease of Cleaning Its easy to clean. Just some vinaeagar and water. Run it through a few times and it's clean. Ease of Use Just set it up for morning and turn it on when you get up. Just keep an eye on it before it spills everywhere Design They could have made the coffee filter thing better and fix the spilling all over Durability Breaks very easy after i owned it just for a few months. I'll never buy this product again

Reliable and Simple

5

I grew up with this brand of a coffee maker and I am very loyal to it. This twelve cup coffee maker has been used every morning for five years in my house so far. It is still going strong. It is not an expensive coffee maker. I also enjoy it because it is so simple and is not a complicated piece of technology. It brews my coffee with one and only one setting. I do not want a variety of settings. I am a creature of habit, so that is why this simply machine is reliable and very easy to use. It matches all of the other black appliances in my kitchen, making the kitchen look classy and modern. The coffee maker is very simply to clean, both the inside and the outside. I do not always make the twelve cups of coffee every morning. Sometimes I choose to make four or six. The difference in the cups brewed does not change how the maker brews it. My parents have an older model of this coffee maker, and it has been brewing them coffee every morning for over ten years.

Basic Coffee Maker for Rare Company

4

Although a majority of my coffee brewing at home is in my 4-cup pot (my version of a single serve) I knew that on occasion I would have the need to make more at a time, so I acquired the very simple and basic Mr. Coffee 12-cup drip coffeemaker. There's nothing fancy about this black plastic brewer. You can see you water fill line on the sides, the carafe is mostly glass topped with plastic, and the start button is a simple switch with a green light telling you it's on. There's no clock, timer, or anything else. I use this to make coffee when I have company, or to make iced coffee for the summer months. I like my coffee iced by time and refrigeration, not by ice, so I will brew a full 12 cups and use it as needed. This cleans easily with vinegar and water and hasn't given me any maintenance problems over the four years I have owned it, even using it admittedly about 30 times a year. For a very basic drip coffee maker this is a good choice.

Can be reliable in a pinch for gatherings

4

The Mr. Coffee brewing machine here has been a long time favorite but when it gets old it really shuts down fast so make sure a replacement coffee machine is available. When new extremely durable, but as time goes on reliability cannot be depended on. Brew Performance Quick as long as it has been well maintained. Regular cleaning with a coffee cleaner is highly recommended and it will perform as it should. If you do not maintain it will not brew quickly or well especially if you have hard water, this seems to be the draw back for ANY coffee machine. Ease of Cleaning More trouble than what the machine is worth. Too many components to maintain regularly. Unless your religious about the deep cleaning every day it gets to be a real chore to keep clean properly. Ease of Use Easy to operate. Needed to make are the filters & grounds and a supply of water. Put filter in basket holder and add grounds after which you measure using the dispensing pot how many cups you want and add that amount of water, oh and don't forget to measure the grounds unless waste is not a worry then fill the basket for great strong coffee, just like the restaurants make. Plug in the unit and switch the button to on and wait. Design Simple and easy to use. Functional design as far as what goes where and not too much counter space is used. Make it its own place on the counter and you should have no problems. Durability Each machine has its own drawbacks, but for Mr. Coffee coffee pots they generally work well and last a fair amount of time, provided they get regular maintainance. Can be rough with them, use them outdoors and they will take it. All that except the glass carafe which is sussseptible to breakage, but there is no help for that.

A Coffee Pot that keeps brewing and brewing and brewing!

3

I have owned this coffee pot for about 2 years.  I have never had any trouble with it working. I set the programmable timmer to go off about 15 minutes before I wake in the morning and leave it.  I love to wake to the smell of fresh brewed coffee.  The coffee tastes great.  No bitter taste and comes in pipping hot!  There are a few reasons why I only gave it 3 stars.  It does in-fact brew up to 12 cups of coffee.  The trouble comes when you try to fill the reservoir up to 12 cups.  There are 2 holes right at the top, so if you put in exactly 12 cups all the water will not fit and you will end up with a puddle on your counter.  Same thing goes if you fill it all the way up and then try to push it back on your counter.  The top to this pot opens upwards which means that you cannot have a cabinet above the pot while filling it hence the reason you would want to move it after it's filled.  No a very good design.  One last thing that really bothers me is that the pot automatically turns off in 2 hours.  For some this may be a good thing, but for me getting four kids ready for school in the morning takes a bit and the time span between my first cup and second cup is sometimes longer then 2 hours.  I have to remember to walk by the maker and switch it off then back on to reset the timmer.  Overall this pot is a great pot.  If you are looking for a coffee maker that will get the job done morning after morning then this is the coffee maker for you!

No bells no whistles just brew

The **Mr. Coffee 12 Cup Coffeemaker CG13** is about as basic as it gets. I admit, I am not much of a coffee drinker and when I do drink coffee I usually like the flavored ones, heavy on the cream and sugar (ok milk and sugar substitute now). Anyway, recently I needed the extra morning jolt of caffeine that coffee can bring and pulled out this coffee maker.  I only wanted to make about 5 cups or so, thinking that my husband would want to drink some too since I was actually making it.  Using the **Mr. Coffee 12 Cup Coffeemaker CG13** is easy and I do like that there is only one lid I need to flip to fill both the coffee and water filters.  The coffee was ok, once I turned it into something that most coffee drinkers would scoff at.  It was easy to clean out the pot afterwards and there was no spilling over during brewing. There is a side measure to double check the water amount and an extension cord with storage room in the back when not in use.  But what I didn't like about the **Mr. Coffee 12 Cup Coffeemaker CG13** is that the pot is shaped oddly, and while I thought I had filled to about 6 cups I ended up with about 4 brewed.  And these were SMALL cups of coffee.  Hardly enough to even qualify.  I didn't like the arm that was in the way of placing the coffee filter and coffee ground in the machine either. It's not to noisy to use, but overall unimpressive.  There is only one button, for on and off, so needless to say several hours later (with a little coffee left in the pot) my husband pointed out to me that it hadn't been turned off. That is a big feature for me, it has to have a timed auto shut off or my coffee maker would never get turned off.  The **Mr. Coffee 12 Cup Coffeemaker CG13** is not something I would search out to buy again. It's ok, for now, a temporary use and I guess making 12 cups would come in handy if there was a party or something. Overall, I think there are probably coffee makers out there that would actually cost the same but have more features and not have the problems that this one has.

The Mr. Coffee CG13 is a cheap, lousy coffeemaker!

1

I purchased the Mr. Coffee CG13 at the beginning of March 2009.  I decided on this particular coffeemaker because I don't need many special features.  It is a nice black color that matches my other small appliances well.  I like how there is one opening for the coffee/coffee filter and the water instead of two separate like some.  The coffee pours nicely without drips.  When you open the cover the back side does not drip condensation.  I have had that problem with other coffeemakers.  It is easy to clean.  I used white vinegar to clean it twice while i had the coffeemaker.  By the time I had the CG13 for a month, it was already starting to brew the coffee very slowly.  That is why I had cleaned it twice in the six weeks I owned it, hoping it would help the brewing time.  It took up to 20 minutes or more at times to brew six cups of coffee.  At the six week mark, my husband made coffee before his shower like every other weekday morning.  When he came out 15 minutes later, there were not quite two cups brewed.  That was the last coffee it brewed, it totally stopped brewing after that.  My husband said the pump broke, so no water would even pump from the water reservoir into the machine.  I was so upset that I immediately threw it into the dumpster.  A couple of days later, I thought I should at least tell Mr. Coffee about their lousy product.  After 3 or 4 days, they told me that since I had already disposed of the coffeemaker, there was nothing they could do.  Oh yeah, and they made sure to tell me that they make quality products, LOL!  I would recommend that you run if you see the CG13 in a store!
