I have owned Motorola modems before and know from experience that they last a really long time. So, when I decided to upgrade to a wireless internet connection, I went with the Motorola SURFboard Gateway. It works with my cable internet. It is very sturdy and durable. I have it connected directly to one desktop computer and then I have a second desktop running off it wirelessly. It uses three cords: my cable cord from the wall, the ethernet cord from my computer, and a power cord. I've been very pleased with it's speed and performance. My apartment is only 900 sq. ft, but I always have excellent wifi coverage with this modem. The only negatives I would say are that I wish it was designed so that you had the option to lay it on its side. It would be more versatile that way for choosing where to store it on your desk. Also, the blue and green lights on the face of the modem are very bright. They really light up a dark room, which could be annoying if it's in your bedroom. With that said, Motorola is a brand I trust and I highly recommend this modem.
