Works well for my needs

4

The Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000 Personal Webcam is the only webcam I've ever had. It was a good price and came in a set of 2 webcams. I only use it occasionally (to Skype), but I have been happy with the quality of sound and picture. The webcam stand is versatile and can rest on your computer monitor or sit on a flat surface. The lens can be rotated to adjust the focus (crisp and not blurry). Compatibility I have used it on several different desktops over the years. It has worked with all of them. On two of the computers, I could not get the sound to work at first, but eventually I was able to find where to change the settings and then it worked. Video Quality I have found the video quality to be really good. The only time it seems to be real grainy is if the internet speed drops too slow or certain lighting, which is not normally the case. Ease of Use It comes with Life Cam software, which you have to download, but I'm not familiar with what it does on it's own. I only use Skype, so I don't use the Life Cam program for anything. Durability Has held up through use, transport, and storage just fine.

Great Webcam

I was in a need for a new webcam for my new computer that I bought a couple of months back and after careful consideration with other brands, I decided to buy the Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000 Personal Webcam. I must say that I am impressed with this webcam. The setup ot this webcam was pretty easy and the software of this product does not slow the performance times of your computer. I like the special adjusted lighting mechanism, because the cam will adjust any bad lighting on its own. THis product works great with other products such as MSN messanger and Skype. I also like the built in microphone that sound very clear when you are talking with someone or recording for some presentation. Overall, this is a great product at a great price.

The Lifecam VX-3000 is a great cam for the money

This Camera is great. It holds a great picture even in the dark, without interlacing. There are plenty of options to change the settings on the camera and works with just about any web cam program you can think of. It's pretty small as well, the height is no higher than that of a credit card. It is quite nice to use and the manual focus makes me happy as I like having control over the quality of my capture resolution. There are a few problems though. The mount it comes on is quite a piece of work. It seems like it can't decide on if it wants to be attached to your monitor or just to sit on your desk. There is only 2 axis on which the camera turns, the X axis and the Y axis. This means if your desk/monitor/surface is angled, so will your picture and there is no way to fix it. As far as Plug and Play goes, you must have the Microsoft drivers (even with Windows 7), however there is a much more updated driver from the Microsoft website which works fine with Windows 7. Something funny, that I have personally noticed, is that the web cam works with just about every program except for its own. The Microsoft program it comes with most of the time won't recognize that the camera is attached. Not a big deal if your only using it for another program. An annoying "feature" is it has a button on top which is made for some sort of MSN calling system. There is no way that I know of to disable this feature. It becomes slightly annoying to have that pop up come up every time you bump the button on the top, but its not really that big of a deal.

The Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000 is ok for the price

I got this webcam because I lived overseas for about 2 years and I wanted to cam with my parents. I got it really cheap and I am happy it works. The picture could be a lot better, but it was enough for my parents to recognize me. The mic is pretty good. There were never any communication problems. Sadly the cam doesn't always work when I turn on my MSN. It always works though when I use SKYPE. But it shouldn't happen that the cam's function somtimes pass out. Wonder if it is just my laptop, MSN or the cams fault. :p

Overrated according to the box but gets the job done.

I won the Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000 on Live Search Club (www.club.live.com). It was completely free (no shipping or anything) so I really can't complain. However, the box describes it with amazing terminology such as High Quality Video and Crystal Clear audio. In contrary, it's just an ordinary webcam. It suffices the need of a webcam but you don't want to use it to shoot your big movie production or short film. The video gets pixelated when any fast movement takes place and the audio is semi-clear. What was cool, though, was the effect to zoom in and pan. Also, they have many animated graphics to place on top of the video such as a ladybug moving about the screen over your video or a basketball bouncing. That's probably the best part of it (but it never mentioned that stuff on the box, go figure). A truly adequate product. However, on the same website mentioned above, I just recently won the LifeCam VX-6000. I yet need to set it up. I'll probably use that and post up another review to see if it's any better.I'd recommend this to people who maybe just want to keep in touch with family or friends who live far away and you want to talk to them through the webcam. Anything else will just turn into a bad YouTube phenomenon.
