I have several Microsoft IntelliMouses. I've used a lot of different input devices, and Microsoft offer the most comfortable and and user friendly products. Whether you choose a wired or wireless model, Microsoft optical IntelliMouses are the best!

The Microsoft Intellimouse Optical USB and PS/2 Compatible wired mouse is a great, sturdy laser mouse--probably the best one I have used. Since it is corded, it does not lock up due to interference in wireless signal, nor does it require battery changes. The cord is sufficiently long that I do not find myself tugging on it. On Windows XP and 7 systems, the mouse was detected and available for use right away, no restart required. The mouse has the standard five buttons: left click, right click, scroll wheel, and two side buttons that work as forward and back on browsers. To the best of my knowledge, these two buttons are not configurable. The scroll wheel has a smooth, long pre-defined scroll when not pressed down, and a short, user-defined scroll when pressed down. The bottom is all red (especially when the motion laser lights up), has four pads, and you can even see some of the circuitry on the inside. Overall, a solidly built mouse.

The Microsoft Intelli Optical USB mouse is a mouse that provides great performance for all one's basic PC needs. There are five buttons: the left and right buttons, then the two side buttons, and the scroll wheel is a button as well. I have used this mouse for several years with no problems. It has strong performance and the pointer is rarely jumpy on the screen. The buttons could probably be better, but for the low price that's only a minor complaint. The scroll wheel and two main buttons feel fine, but the side buttons feel somewhat hollow or cheap when pressed. The mouse feels fairly comfortable to hold and use, and the cord is of sufficient length to accommodate any PC setup. The optical light on the bottom is bright, but not too bright and does become dim when the mouse is not in use. Basically the mouse does all a basic user asks of it without any issues. This is a reliable product that will serve its owner well.
