I had a GE side by side that I'd inherited from my brother. It had plenty of room and a lot of features that I liked, except there was no water/cube/cracked ice dispenser. When that model started to literally fall apart (the seal went in several spots) I realized I'd have to maybe break down and buy a new refrigerator. I was still holding out on a repair when I spotted this Magic Chef (Maytag) model while browsing through the appliance store waiting for my cousin "the repairman". What struck me was that it was white, but the handle and the water/crushed ice/cube dispenser area were glossy black. I fell in love and opened the doors to see what else it had to offer to entice me to "take it home". Well, 26 cubic feet of space was a good start. The side by side with the vertical freezer was what I was used to, but I truthfully wasn't used to having the ice dispenser taking up room in the freezer (which has all but vanished from my mind as a complaint because the filtered water is a godsend). Inside the refrigerator side, I found plenty of shelf space and had no trouble loading the door with all my condiments and dressings. The vegetable drawers handle plenty of stuff. The only thing I missed from my old side by side was the lunchmeat/deli draw that was below the top shelf. That was a handy feature. Otherwise, I found the perfect replacement refrigerator and took it home. I haven't had an ounce of trouble with it. It's quiet, the water is ice cold, cubes are half moons and come out without really splashing into a glass. I got an excellent price on it and am very happy after six months of use. Bravo Magic Chef!
