A Worthy Buy

4

im not much on words so.. i bought this looking for something that me and my wife could use while sitting on the couch to watch streamed music without maually selecting what we wanted to watch. which involved constantly getting up off the couch.. once this baby was plugged in we enjoyed hours of messing around with it. this performed so well wirelessly. and the range was more than adiquate. so i thought i would try this on a few games.. (i forgot to mention. my PC is tied into the TV) and i was estatic. i can sit comfotably on the couch or love seat and game... doh!!! this was A Worthy Buy. i've always trusted Logitech.. and i will always be a continuing buyer of their products.

Nice But Needs a Few Tweaks

The MX5500 is a higher end wireless keyboard/mouse combination which I received as a gift for my laptop which I keep connected to my television. Overall, the quality is good but with consistent use over time the keyboard gets a little buggy. Performance The keyboard has a full layout including the number pad, which I like. All the top row buttons, F1, etc., work well - and that does not always happen with wireless keyboards. However, it has gotten to the place where sometimes the keys just stop working and I have to repeatedly hit a key and wait for it to respond, but this didn't start happening until after a few years. I performed an update on the software and it didn't solve the problem. I guess with all wireless peripherals you can only expect them to last so long. However, the mouse is WONDERFUL - has multiple features and I've never had a problem with it. Durability This set has lasted over three years so far and only the keyboard is a little buggy. The only thing I dislike immensely is that the mouse is not battery operated - it has its own charger which is a waste of an outlet. The charge for the mouse also wears down within a day with heavy usage so having a battery would be better. Design It's a good, basic design but, again, the mouse should have batteries vs. a charger. Comfort This is where Logitech shines. The full keyboard is comfortable to type on and the mouse is ergonomically designed and feels like butter to use.

Logitech MX5500: A Top Tier Wireless System

With many components being limited on real estate (due to their extreme portability), it is difficult to convince yourself what devices you are willing to consume a USB port for; for those who have bought their computers with bluetooth capability, there is a simple solution: the Logitech MX5500 Cordless Desktop, complete with a keyboard and mouse. This cordless, bluetooth combination uses a different frequency range than the traditional 2.4 GHz band reducing the interference that other devices may cause. Furthermore, you can use this cordless desktop to connect to most bluetooth-capable devices, not just your computer; that means you're getting more functionality! This cordless combination by Logitech carries that same Logitech design that we have all come to love: the mouse is oh-so comfortable, smooth, and carries a rechargeable battery. The full-keyboard is easy to type on and does not cause any fatigue. Logitech does it again!!!

This Logitech combo will make any computer user's life easier!

As a freelance graphic designer and avid computer gamer I needed a keyboard and mouse that could withstand hours of use on a daily basis, and be very accurate and steady. Since this mouse and keyboard combo connects through a blue-tooth usb, I can switch to my laptop and back to my desktop easily. The mouse is very accurate and allows me to have a steady hand when working on my graphic design. I'm able to configure the buttons on the mouse to do specific actions in different programs. In my Photoshop, I can use the buttons to help with my graphic design, but in my online games, I can use the buttons for other features in those games. The battery life is great as long as you keep it on the charger every night. If I forget to put it on the charger every night, I can run into battery life issues if I use it all day long. Since the mouse has its own charger and not inserted batteries, it has no back up if you run out of power. You have to put it on the charger and either take a break and not use a mouse, or have an extra mouse on hand. The keyboard is very customizable, has great extra button features, and the in-keyboard screen is great. I use the in-keyboard calculator on a daily basis and saves me from having to open a calculator program on the computer. Just a click of a button and I can use the 10-key pad to type out my calculations and it shows on the in-keyboard screen. As a stay at home mom of 2 and at home businesswoman, I need everything I have to be very durable. This keyboard and mouse combo is definitely that! My toddler loves to play with my mouse, drops it on the floor, rolls the scroll buttons with vigor, and has even thrown it at a wall. The mouse still works like the day I opened the box. I've even had orange juice spilled on the keyboard and after a little drain and wipe down with a cloth, I don't even have sticky buttons. This combo will make any computer user's life much easier with its customizable features, durability, and in-keyboard shortcuts.

Great for Windows, Not for Mac

I bought the Logitech Bluetooth MX5500 keyboard/mouse combo for my Windows machine and the keyboard is great and the mouse is good. Installation was easy and I never had a dropped connection. The keyboard is lightweight and had a good soft sound when I typed. Many of the keys are programmable and easy to adjust to my needs via the Logitech software. The battery life is also very good. I've been using it for months now and still don't have to change the batteries. The mouse is fairly good. The plethora of customizable buttons is great although the software lacks the double-click ability. My biggest problem is the acceleration curve. When set for faster mouse movements, it's great, but when I use it for slow accurate movements, it doesn't track too well. When it's set to track accurately during slow movements, it doesn't move fast enough during most other mouse movements. XP's built in mouse acceleration curves work better, but it glitches with the Logitech software (i.e., switches back and forth between XP's control panel and Logitech's). I have also tried this on my new Mac Mini. Logitech's software doesn't work with the MX5500, so you can't customize all the buttons on the mouse or keyboard. Also, the Logitech bluetooth module doesn't work while the Mac Mini's built-in Bluetooth works fine.
