My parents used this product when I was younger to clean their bathtubs. I didn't really know of any other bathroom cleaning products when I started living on my own, so I defaulted to Lime-Away and I have been extremely satisfied. I live in a state and climate where we have extremely hard water. I am not willing to pay to have soft water, so I tend to try and just clean the hard water stains from dishes, faucets, and bathtubs myself. The most effective way I have found to get rid of hard water stains is by far Lime-Away. It cleans those hard-to-remove hard water stains from the bathtub faucet and right underneath the bathtub soap holder. The most difficult stains I have had to remove are right around the base of the bathroom sink faucet. It tends to get moldy fast and seems to have a somewhat permanent hard water stain there. I just pour some of this gel at that location and let it sit for a few minutes and it wipes right off. I prefer the gel version of Lime-Away because it is able to stick in one place rather than falling right off. The scent (more like odor) of this specific product is somewhat overwhelming. I find that if I am in the same room as the Lime-Away I tend to get light-headed. It smells awful, but it is extremely powerful in its cleaning ability, so to me the smell is worth it.

Lime a way in my household is a trusted brand because I've used other lime away products that worked magic on stains. When I came across the line away gel, I wanted to buy it immediately because I hadn't seen other cleaning gels that can get rid of anything from rust to hard water stains almost effortlessly. So when I bought it and got home I tried it that day just on one thing and that was my toilet. Under the lid for the tank and around the edges there was rust I guess just from water splashing up sometimes and I never thought it would come off because we've tried to get rid of it with no success. I applied the lime away thick gel formula to the rusted areas and let it sit. What was great is unlike liquid cleans, it doesn't immediately start running down and instead clings to the area and cleans it. Not long after we wiped it off and to my amazement it was crystal clear. I mean it was looking like we just bought it. It's a little pricey but for what it can do its definitely worth it. I also used in on some hard water stains I had in one of my showers when we moved into the house. It's very versatile and I'm a customer for life.

This product is great for what it's intended for: hard water and calcium buildup on showers and around drains. I will state the obvious: wear gloves or protective wear when handling and keep out of reach of children. I had horrible grey calcified buildup around my sink drain and finally applied some of this to it and the results were great. It looked [almost] like a new appliance again. I would recommend using it anywhere there is water and metal as it may be too caustic for the finish of granite in a granite sink. I have not had a ton of success with my shower floor which is made of dark rocks which now have light hard water stains on them, but I have read that hard water stains on dark rocks will probably never come off completely. It also needs to be stored on a high shelf away from children. Performance This product is caustic because of what it has to do but the performance is amazing. Scent The product is very strong so I would recommend using gloves and/or protective eyewear with prolonged indoor use.

When I inherited a small rental home that my Mom had left vacant following a bad rental, I discovered that the lack of attention and care combined with vandalism left me with a ton of clean up to return it back to a rental property. One of the areas that had suffered the worst from the neglect was the bathtub. It was not a newer acrylic tub. It was an old built in enamel tub. Unfortunately it was covered with not only dirt and grime, but a crud that had accumulated on the surface leaving it with a rough surface that felt almost like it had been sprinkled with a coarse sand that didn't wipe away. That, combined with the calcium buildup around the drain and spigot from the hard water in the area was my project that I hoped would not end up costing me a new tub. Luckily I had a friend of the family who was helping with the clean-up and repairs recommend trying Lime-A-Way. With a new bottle of Lime-A-Way, a supply of heavy duty nylon scrub pads and a lot of elbow grease I tackled that tub. It took 3 cleanings, but when I finished the 3rd, I had a tub that was clean and smooth to touch! Even the chrome fixtures cleaned up with this cleaner. I was thrilled. Lime-A-Way is now a product that is always found in my bathroom cleaning supply cabinet. I may not have to use it often, but whenever I come across anything that needs cleaned of rust, calcium or lime I bring out my Lime-A-Way! Performance I was very pleased with the performance of this product. It cleaned my old tub of all the calcium build-up and grime, leaving a clean surface that saved my budget. I do want to note here that when cleaning with this product it is very important to wear gloves to protect your hands. This product can burn sensitive skin if you are not careful. I am not surprised considering the cleaning it does perform. Scent This Lime-A-Way does not have a scent, it has a chemical smell! You cannot use this product in a closed room, such as a bathroom, without good ventilation. It is very irritating to the throat and eyes if not properly ventilated.

I helped my best friend decorate her house for Christmas this year, like I do every year because I enjoy decorating and she doesn't find it exciting or fun in the least. My friend was cleaning her home while I was decorating it, when she called for me to come into her restroom. I stopped what I was doing and went to see what she wanted. What she wanted was to show me how wonderfully **Lime Away Thick Gel Formula** was removing hard water deposits that had accumulated on the tile in her shower, over quite a few years. I was stunned when I saw the part of the tile in the shower she had cleaned with the Lime Away compared to the part that she had not cleaned yet. It was truly amazing! Lime Away Thick Gel Formula was doing almost all of the work itself. I mean, it began getting rid of those stubborn hard water deposits as soon as she sprayed it on the tile! We both did a little scrubbing, and were both shocked at how sparkling clean and almost new her tile looked after using this cleaner. After seeing how well it worked on her tile, we sprayed some of it on her shower head, and the hard water deposits even came off of it! This is a very powerful lime deposit remover, and if you have hard water stains that you think are a permanent fixture, I recommend that you give Lime Away Thick Gel Formula a try. It's powerful stuff, and I wouldn't use such harsh chemicals to clean with on a regular basis, but it certainly gets the job done when necessary, and when most other cleaning products that I'm aware off can't tackle the stubborn hard water deposits. After using this product and seeing for myself the huge difference it makes and how much cleaner and shinier the tile and shower head in my best friend's shower look, I definitely give it 5 stars. Performance Removes hard water stains that I honestly thought were there to stay! Works better than I ever would have believed if I had not seen it for myself! Scent I'm not crazy about the scent...it smells like a cleaner, but not fresh and airy, like I prefer. It doesn't smell bad, though...just not really terrific.

I was having quite a problem with the corrosive mineral deposits from the hard water in my area. The stains did not go away with the regular cleaners I was using. I was stumped as to what to do when I saw an advertisement for Lime-a-way. I did not believe it would work, but decided to try it out. I was so surprised when it lived up to all the claims it had made. The stains in the toilet around the rim disappeared with only two applications. That could be because I didn't leave it on long enough the first time. Now I have a sparkling clean toilet. The sink took a little longer. I live in an older apartment with older sinks and cabinets. The sheen is off the porcelain so it took more tries at a smaller amount at first. But it definitely did work as promised. I will always keep Lime-a-way in the house although I hope I don't need it that often.

We bought a mid-1800's era house several years ago. What a mess it was from all those years of living! The worst rooms were the kitchen and bathroom, but Lime Away Thick Gel Formula helped us make it somethiing to be proud of. The bathroom was the worst. Even though the fixtures were comparatively modern (1970's) they were rust stained and sported thick calcium deposits. The toilet bowl was appalling. Rust, calcium, and other deposits I don't want to think too closely about, qualified it for "The Ugliest Potty in the Universe". Time to begin. I donned gloves and read the directions VERY carefully (bi-lingual, English/Spanish) and all the safety warnings, too. This is a powerful cleaner, and must be used with care. I opened the nozzle according to directions and applied the thick, clingy gel around and under the rim. I waited a moment, and used paper towels to remove the first loosened layer. Yuck! A second application and most of the build up was gone. One final application and we were home free! That was the worst of it. The bowl itself was a one application breeze; the same with the rust stained tub. Compared to that nasty commode rim, the rusty kitchen sink was nothing -- cleaned in a trice. Lime Away Thick Gel Formula has earned a place in my cleaning bucket at our current house, too.
