pleasant business laptop

5

The ThinkPad is basically synonymous with business. Most businessmen and women use the IBM ThinkPad for their line of work. I think the reasons for this are many. It looks like it is a business laptop and it certainly functions like a business laptop. Most ThinkPads today have very weak graphics and the reason why is because you simply do not need a graphics card for a very good one for most business work. Graphics are mainly for use of videos and games both of which a typical businessman or woman does not engage with a part of. So it makes sense that ThinkPads have excellent processors paired with weak graphics. In addition to all this they have astounding durability and are fully capable of lasting several years, stretching all the way until a new architecture develops, preventing you from wasting cash by purchasing multiple processors each time.

Lenovo IBM thinkpad laptops are my favorite. It is too bad really that IBM got bought, well there laptop division at least. The ThinkPad is now owned by Lenovo. A lot of people were hesitant about this news and I myself was as well. Actually I still am as I would much rather have IBM PC owners of the thinkpad series. But surprisingly when no one has done a decent job at maintaining the high quality and standards that are fit for the think pad series. The R61E is one of the great offerings from the ThinkPad lineup. It has got a broad keyboard that is great for hands. I do not feel squished or awkward when I'm typing on this keyboard. I would say that mouse, an external mouse is really important for ThinkPad laptops though because the mouse on these laptops suck and everyone agrees.

Awesome so far

I like this laptop, it's simple and cheap but it works well. The R61E is more of an introductory business class laptop. If you are interested in using this for media work, then this laptop is probably not the right pick for you. For business and professional use this Lenovo excels since it was designed for this purpose. This laptop is just right size. It is not as small as a netbook so that the keyboard and screen is small, and it is not one of those gigantic seventeen inch screens that reminds me more of a desktop than a laptop. The screen is large and sharp, the keyboard is the right size. The laptop is about a centimeter and a half thick, two centimeters if the screen is placed down. It's definitely not the thinnest out there but its not overly large either. I like that you can type in the dark since there is a light placed on top of the screen that will illuminate your keyboard. One thing I dislike is the mouse, I greatly prefer the original pad style.

Does very well

The Lenovo R61E was my first Lenovo product and I am very pleased with it. The Lenovo R61E is very smooth looking, with no weird designs or nothing odd that detracts from its appearance. It has a very plain black cover on top with just a Lenovo sign on the lower right hand corner. The keyboard is very wide and every button and every stroke is easy to hit. The Lenovo R61E is using by an intel centrino and it is very fast. From my understanding there are faster processors out there besides the intel centrino but I like it. The speakers are o the sides, both sides, and they are not excellent but they do not crackle or make odd noises. For a laptop speakers they seem adequate for the job. What I like about the R61E is that it does not require a cd or cds to reinstall and reformat. All you do is hit the thinkvantage button on the keyboard (it's blue so you can't miss it) and it will lead you to a reformat tab, which allows you to completely reformat your computer with no cd.

R61E has different variations so one person's review may not be applicable to another, it may not be an apples to apples comparison. Make sure that the configuration is the same as the one that you have. WIth that said, I have an R61E and it runs a Core 2 Duo processor from Intel running at 2.4GHZ. This processor, the Core 2 Duo, is just fine for my needs. In fact, I am really pleased with it. I use my R61E for mundane things like looking at youtube videos and also doing a lot of forum browsing online. I also do some light shopping on the side. For these tasks the Core 2 Duo has been absolutely fantastic. The downside and the only negative I can think of is the integrated graphics on this computer. It is horrible as it is very weak. But that is to be expected because this is not a laptop that is mean for gaming. It would have been nice though if they added just a litle bit better graphics. The mouse (the red dot) is either love or hate, I am quite used to it now and don't mind it.
