Takes out the fire, but leaves in the warmth
While this is my second favorite single malt scotch whisky, I would recommend it as the first thing to try for someone who has never ventured into these types of higher end elixirs. Lagavulin provides a soothing blend of sweetness, brine, and smoke that makes it unique among its competitors. Like Laphroaig (my number one), it comes from Islay; however, Lagavulin is a bit more subtle and rounded. While, I like the slightly more intense elements of Laphroaig, Lagavulin softer tone might be better suited for the novice.Drink it in small amounts; straight or perhaps with a slight splash of water, but NEVER with ice.
