I am absolutely in love with LUSH and its handmade, all natural soaps and I have tried almost all of them. This has remained a favorite throughout the years. In the winter I get very dry, flaky skin on my legs. Not a whole lot seems to help, except for LUSH's products. Their Porridge soap sounds foul but is actually really good. This smells absolutely divine with a warm, sweet, almost caramel scent. As you glide it over your skin the oats mixed into the soap very, very gently exfoliate. It is not scratchy at all and you don't come out of the shower looking like you took a scrub brush to your skin so this is perfect for sensitive skin, especially in the winter. I use this soap almost exclusively during the winter, but I also find it extremely useful after a particularly bad sunburn when the skin is beginning to peel. It helps to gently remove that dead skin and hydrate the new skin below. I highly recommend this to those with dry, sensitive skin.

On a recent trip to my local LUSH store, I picked up a bar of Porridge Soap. I am trying to save money and not buy their expensive soaps, but something about the scent and appearance of this soap just really intrigued me so I had to try a small bar and check it out for myself. LUSH.com describes Porridge Soap as stuffed with real oats for an exfoliating scrub and fresh orange juice to invigorate sleepy heads, this sweet treat smells like molasses and makes skin deliciously soft. Ideal for sensitive skin; irresistible to everyone else, including bears. The oats are the first thing that caught my eye when I noticed Porridge Soap.  It is truly stuffed with what oats. Not the flat kind that turn all mooshy when they get wet, but steel cut oats that have a nutty scent to them. The other thing I noticed was the scent.  It had a light, slightly sweet and creamy scent that I thought would be nice in the morning. When I used my bar of Porridge, I simply unwrapped it and brought the whole bar into the shower with me.  I wanted the exfoliation so I rubbed the bar all over myself and was really happy with the loads of yummy creamy sweet lather that resulted. My only complaint about Porridge soap is that it does melt very quickly, moreso than many other LUSH soaps I've tried, and the oats can get a little messy in the shower as they fall away from the bar. With time, I've ended up with more oats than soap in my bar, but the soap lathers so nicely that it's not really a problem for me. Effectiveness I really love the gentle exfoliation the oats provide. I've tried other exfoliating bars with bits of shredded coconut or lemon peel that became too dehydrated and scratchy over time.  The oats in Porridge though are more rounded rather than rough so if they have dried up a bit, they don't hurt when using the bar again a few days later. I like LUSH's Porridge Soap. It provides just the right amount of exfoliation I need prior to shaving, it doesn't dry my skin out, it smells nice, and lathers well. Scent Smells good. Nice creamy, slightly sweet scent.

i love this lush bar it is one of my favorite. ever since i first smelled it i fell in love. the smell of this soap caught my attention right away i has never smelled such a great smelling soap in my life, it smells so good that i sometimes felt like eating it. i love this soap not only for the smell but because of the texture of the oats. i love using it to exfoliate. i love how it just lathers on your skin so nicely. after every use my skin would feel super soft, and a very light scent from the bar would linger on my skin afterwards.

I love Lush. It is a very green innovative company. I like the store and the sales people are always very helpful and informative. The porrige soap is just the salt of the earth. Although I am a beauty Diva I like the way this made me feel organic and au naturale. This soap is easy on your skin and almost feels like your skin is having a meal. It is awesome like many of their products are!

As a Lushie, I love this soap.  But, what is more important to me is that Porridge Soap is also pet-friendly.  I can bathe myself and my Cocker Spaniel with the same soap (not the same piece just the same product LOL).  Porridge Soap is all natural and gentle, the ingredients help with my dog's dry skin. I put her in the bath and the soap lathers very well.  She also seems to enjoy this experience much more than with any other dog shampoo I have used.  She stands quietly for the lathering and doesn't squirm as the warm water washes over her.  She comes out smelling as sweet as pie and we are both happy with the soap. To preserve this soap, I cut it up into smaller pieces.  Just place it on a cutting board and use a sharp knife.  You can get one to three uses out of each piece (that way the soap does not melt away before you get full use out of it).  I also recommend storing it in a dry place between uses.
