I LOVE LUSH shampoo bars

5

This bar has lasted me so much longer than a normal bottle of shampoo would. It smells great, a little bit goes a long way, and it gets my hair really clean without making it dry (I only use the shampoo, no conditioner). I also wish there was a better way to store it. I keep it in a little dish in my shower, in a place where it can stay relatively dry. But after a while, so much of it gets stuck to the bottom of the dish, and will likely end up going to waste. Effectiveness It might just be because I have really thick hair, so it's hard to fully rinse out, but I do get some buildup on my scalp from this product. So I occasionally have to switch to another shampoo to solve this problem. Scent Smells great! Something I really like about it, is it's scent seems to be unisex. My husband uses it and he doesn't have to worry about smelling like a pretty flower, and on the same token, I don't have to worry about smelling like some kind of aftershave. Since we can share, it frees up space in our shower.

I love it!

I have been using LUSH hair products for many years the LUSH Karma Komba Solid Shampoo Bar has been one of my favorites. The scent of it is a lovely mixture of citrus, and spices it's really aromatic. This shampoo bar is easy to use I rub it across my wet hair a few times then I take my hands, and work it into a rich lather. After I am done my hair is left feeling super soft, it looks very shiny, and has an added bounce to it. I also had very manageable hair since using this product it is very easy to brush through my long hair now. This shampoo conditions my hair fine, but if I ever need too add a little more moisture I can use a separate conditioner with this shampoo. The added citrus oils in this shampoo really make my dull hair shine again I am in love with using it just for that purpose. I keep my shampoo bar in a soap container to keep it away from the water other wise it will melt away fast.

Green and lean - no packaging is great

5

I've been using Lush products for over a decade and the solid shampoos are some of my favourites, and this is my favourite of the solid shampoos. It's got the Karma fragrance in it, it's great for detangling. It lasts ages - one solid shampoo can last me up to 6 months of use with twice-weekly hair washes. So it's very economical. Because there's no packaging there's less impact on the environment in terms of bottles that need to be recycled and it's so small I can easily throw it in a bag and take it with me. I've used it as a body wash as well when away on trips which really cuts down on the amount of space toiletries take up in the luggage. I've very long coloured hair (Lush henna, waist length hair) and it doesn't strip the colour at all unlike some liquid shampoos which can affect the shine and colour of dyed hair. Effectiveness It's shampoo, it washes your hair. I've found it works well in hard water areas, easily lathering up once you're used to using a solid shampoo. Rub it in your hair a couple of times when they - the hair and the shampoo - are wet and work as normal. Gets my hair clean and has a good detangling quality. It's not the best detangler out there, though. Scent I wear the Karma fragrance from time to time so I love the smell.

Easy Travel Shampoo

3

The best aspect of this solid shampoo is that it is great for traveling, given restrictions on liquids at airports. It basically works like a bar of soap, where you wet it, lather it in your hands, and then apply to your scalp (or you can lather it directly on your head if you prefer). I carry it in a small tin when I travel, but given that it is a solid shampoo it is a good idea to let it dry out between uses so that it does not become "soggy" as a bar of soap would if it were left to sit in a puddle of water. I really like the scent of this shampoo. The downside is that I have very thick, coarse, curly hair and I find that this shampoo tends to dry my hair out a bit so I have to follow with a deep conditioner. Therefore, I haven't been using this shampoo as much in my regular routine. If you have fine, oily hair, however, I am guessing that this shampoo might work well. I do find that it is pretty good at removing build up in my hair so I do still use this on occasion.

GREAT for short hair. I'm a shampoo bar convert!

5

I've been simplifying my beauty routines over the last few months, and was weighing my shampoo bar options when I found LUSH. I had pretty much made up my mind to try them when I found myself, by chance, at the Pier Shops in Atlantic City standing in front of the LUSH store. Let me tell you, if you get a chance to visit LUSH in person, check it out! With the help of one of the friendly LUSH employees, I decided on the **Karma Komba **shampoo bar because it was one of only two that did not have an overpowering scent. I'll qualify that by saying that I am **very** sensitive to smells, so most of their fragrances would probably appeal to the average person. Karma Komba has an herbal scent (aka "Hippy Head") that mellows to a nice, fresh smell after the first couple of uses. For my short hair, this shampoo bar was a godsend. The lather is great - much more than what I expected from a solid shampoo. Not since I was little has my hair felt so soft! For the first week I literally could not keep my hands out of my own hair. My boyfriend has since started using it as well, and he's had the same experience. That said, I can't say that this shampoo bar would work as well on long hair. I still use a separate conditioner, and with long hair I can see how this would be difficult to apply so YMMV.  Now, the negative - Storing this thing is a pain. I got the LUSH travel tin for free because I bought two shampoo bars. If you don't dry the shampoo bar before putting it away, it easily gets stuck in the tin. My recommendation is to find a storage container that allows a good half inch of space around the bar. If, like me, you think the LUSH tin is just too cute not to use it, don't forget to dry the shampoo bar!

Karma Komba by LUSH is 10x better than liquid shampoo!

Karma scent is my favorite and what brought me to be a LUSH junkie!  However this solid shampoo bar smells wonderful when you open it!  Just as good as all the other KARMA items.  After using it just one time though the smell is gone!  When I wash my hair the bathroom does not fill up with a Karma scent at all.  I smell nothing.  Other solid shampoo they make smell wonderful.  I wanted to think that maybe it was just the puck I got. So I bought another one and the same thing.  Cleans your hair nicely but this scent just does not meet the quality of LUSH.  Example NEW solid shampoo is a cinnamon scent and it is so strong all the way to the last bit of shampoo.  Now that is LUSH quality!  Also all the solid shampoos can not be cut!  Be very careful when making samples for friends because the puck will fall apart into little sprinkles unless you wet it first.  So wet it and let it dry and then cut it.

Um...Karma!

If you don't like lush's particular scent, you'd better click "back" button because Karma shampoo bar has the most particular smell. But,the scnet is too addicted to escape from Karma. They mixed not only the scalp-pleasing patchouli and elemi, but also they added orange and lemon oils to cleanse hair and increase shine. So, you can feel a very exotic scent and smooth feeling on your hair. The creamy bubbles perfectly cleaned my hair with sexy scent. It makes a lot of bubbles, so just apply it 3-4 times to your hair.  One thing I want to mention is that if you have dry hair, you'd better use conditioner because Karma did not provide much moisture for me.  By the way, it is difficult to use Lush's shampoo bar since it melts easily in water. I used their shampoo tin and other brand's dispenser, but the shampoo bar still melted. Finally, I found a good way to protect this shampoo bar. Tear a small size of aluminium foil, then attach it to your shampoo bar. It really works. And you can save your shampoo bar.

great alternative to wet shampoo

What is it? The solid shampoo bars that LUSH makes are little hockey puck shaped things like a bar of soap. Instead, they are bars of shampoo! Why is it better than other shampoo? There are several reasons I prefer these solid shampoo bars to regular, bottled shampoo. First, these bars last a long time. The store says you get about 80 shampoos per bar, and I believe it. I've had mine several months now, and it's still going strong! It certainly must save money for that reason alone. Second, I recently learned that almost all bottled shampoos have preservatives in them in the family of parabens, which have been shown to be carcinogenic. Solid things (such as bar soap and bar shampoo) do not require preservatives, so you have a much more natural, non-carcinogenic, healthy shampoo by using the solid bars! Should you buy it? I woudl recommend to everyone to try out this solid shampoo. In particular, the Karma smell is mild but very lovely smelling!

Makes Showering Fun

This isn't my favorite Lush shampoo bar, but it's not bad either. The smell is extremely strong if you sniff the bar, but once it's lathered on, it's not too overwhelming. This product seems to deep clean my scalp and hair. It really gets rid of grease, hair product build-ups, simultaneously making hair shiny and full of volume. It does dry my hair out though, so I only use it occasionally. This tiny bar will last me a long time. It also does not de-tangle very well, even though it claims to. This will be great for travel, as it is impossible to spill, airplane-approved, and very small and compact to save luggage space. It could double as a soap perhaps. This particular shampoo bar lathers VERY well. I was thoroughly impressed with the thick lather and incredible amount of bubbles that can come out from such a small bar. As a shampoo, it does its job. Cleans hair well, in particular I'd recommend this for people with oilier scalps that tend to get greasy hair, otherwise it can be too drying.

10-stars for the heavenly scent, but try a sample first!

Please, fellow Lushies, don't hold this lukewarm Karma Komba review against me.  A previous Lush addict, I'm just now returning to this addiction with a vengeance.  I've got 3 solid shampoos out and working, and another 4 'on deck' (not to mention conditioner, soap and facial cleanser...).  I love Lush.  I love what they are about, what they provide, and the variety of options they offer.  I *want* to love Karma Komba. That said, if you also enjoy remote living (reads: closest Lush store is a full day's drive away), GET SAMPLES BEFORE A BUYING SPREE! Karma Komba and Lush solid shampoos have been very well described on this site, so I'll skip those details (other than to reiterate that the Karma fragrance is intoxicating, and i find myself returning to the wee puck several times a day to inhale...).  I have fine, blonde, shoulder-length hair that needs decent conditioner and a shampoo that won't build up.  Karma Komba mostly fit this bill; ironically, it leaves my hair heavy and greasy by morning.  The lather is glorious and have I mentioned the lovely smell??!? YUM!  But... my hair is a snarled mess after each shower.  Furthermore, Veganese (the lovely-lemony Lush conditioner) does little to solve the tangles - but that's another review.  Karma Komba did leave my hair seriously squeaky clean. So, my bottom line:  Get a sample!  Go in on a few pucks with some friends, split them up and test out a few, rather than just one.  It may work great for you (and i'm deadly jealous!), but Karma Komba isn't for everyone.  Lush customer service is excellent, and the phone reps are wonderful.  That said, there is no substitute for going to a store to better sort out what will work for your tresses.
