Horrible Design Rusting

1

The compressor went out after 5 years. The paint came off of the front and it is all rusted around the bottom of the ice and water dispenser. We don't want to fix it we bought a Samsung for 2700. This new Samsung has a 10 year digital compressor warranty and dual ice makers with French doors. Very nice design. Food is very cold. Very happy.

This is a pretty good refrigerator overall

I was very reluctant to buy a new refrigerator. I have heard so many talk about the problems of pretty much anything new these days. So far I don't seem to have a lemon and it works pretty well. I am pleased overall with this particular refrigerator Noise Level It makes about half the amount of noise that my other one did. It was always clunking around making hissing noises. This one seems pretty quiet. It ice maker is pretty loud and does make noise but ice is noisy. This doesn't bother me. Interior Organization I really am disappointed in the design of this lg refrigerator. You cannot move the shelves in the freezer or the freezer door, which is annoying. I have had to add my own shelving, so I don't have to stack up all the frozen food, and wonder what is in that big pile. Not everything stacks neatly and I needed another shelf. The refrigerator part is okay Temperature Control The first night I noticed the ice maker was dripping into the freezer. I was horrified! I read the manual and made a few adjustments to the temperature and have not had that problem since that time. Thank goodness! Ease of Cleaning I dfo like the shiny surface and it is easy to clean., I followed the directions and applied a little car wax to the door and help keep prints and dirt away. This does seem to work. Durability It seems to be pretty durable, so far. Design I hate the lighting. It is too dark. There are no lights in the front or the side. Just in the back. So, if you put a gallon of milk in front of the light, it is very difficult to see.

My New LG Fridge! (1st new Refrigerator Ever!)

5

This is my first brand-new refrigerator that I got to pick out what I wanted. I LOVE this refrigerator. It is everything I had hoped for. It's design is practical and beautiful to look at. I also love the ice and water dispenser in the door. It is so practical. The child lock is easy to turn on and off for those that have small, curious children. It's so quiet. You don't even know it's running. Especially compared with my old dinosaur of a refrigerator! That one sounded like it was going to blow up or lift off! The water filters last a surprisingly long time and the water is delicious and cold. I really just cannot say enough good things about this app Noise Level It is so quiet that I can't even hear it when I'm in the kitchen and it's completely quiet. Granted, with my 3-year-old that a rare thing! But it really is very quiet--except when it's dropping ice cubes. On occasion it makes me jump! Interior Organization It's unexpectedly spacious. It has two drawers at the bottom--which are large and very convenient for fruits and veggies. The shelves are adjustable so you can raise or lower them depending on what you want to use each shelf for. The freezer size is also extremely spacious--more than you would expect with a freezer that has a sizable ice maker in it. It has a drawer at the bottom and the shelves are adjustable. Most of the size comes from the depth of the shelves. I can fit one of the 5-gallon buckets of ice cream on a shelf and still have room! Temperature Control The temperature is accurate as well as consistent. There are no great temperature fluctuations throughout. My old refrigerator had a glitch that anything on the top shelf of the fridge would freeze! I'm so glad to not have that problem anymore! Ease of Cleaning The shelves are easy to remove for washing-as are the drawers. They come right out. Anything on the outside wipes right off. I love being able to remove them and really give them a good cleaning. They are glass as well, which is wonderful because if something spills it usually only stays on the one shelf. The glass is a very easy surface to wipe clean. Durability My son is a bit of a brute--and so is my husband. We've had the refrigerator for several months now and nothing's broken yet, so that is very good! Most things I buy have at least something broken on them by now. Not my LG fridge! Design I love it! I am in love with my refrigerator. It is beautiful to look at as well as functional. The interior was definitely designed with a family in mind. You can tell that a lot of thought went into it because it is a very smart and practical layout. I just can't say enough about this appliance.

Amazing

The LG side-by-side refrigerator is simply put amazing. The temperature module and great organization allow for better storage of a variety of products and never fail to preserve, cool, and store foods and drinks of sorts. The fridge has a unique style and has a polished, shiny texture and is an added decoration to my complex. Durability This refrigerator is very sturdy and has not been broken upon impact by guests and family members that have used and abused these doors and handles! Very good! Design It is very sleek and slender and slips right into my refrigerator section and adds a nice touch to the kitchen!

Not Worth It

We bought this refrigerator hoping the LG brand would make it a good refrigerator but it turns out to be one of the worst refrigerators I have ever owned. It has a very poor design and is very difficult to get things in and out of. It has one of the worst ice maker dispenser designs I have ever seen. The ice constantly gets stuck when you try to dispense it and we have to clear it with our hand. Overall a poor design. Noise Level noise level is low Interior Organization hard to get things in and out of Temperature Control freezes food in the refrigerator even on highest setting Ease of Cleaning hard to clean Durability dings and chips easily Design hard to use, ice gets stuck

Yikes!

This had to be the most unbelievable experience I have ever had with a major kitchen appliance. When we decided to replace our main refrigerator that was over 15 years old with a more efficient, energy saving and modern refrigerator we were doing a great deal of research since the models and brands had really changed over the past 15 years. We also were wanting to be sure we purchased a very energy efficient power saving type. We finally decided on purchasing at our local Home depot during an appliance sale being advertised with free delivery and pick up of the older refrigerator. We went looking to buy a Samsung but the salesperson showed us this LG model and extoled all the benefits of purchasing an LG. The salesperson also told us that all of Europe used this brand that had previously been unavailable in the U.S. Within a few months of purchasing we began to have trouble. Even though it was under warranty the parts were hard to get so we would have to wait weeks for a part with a refrigerator that did not work in the meantime. After 5 attempted repairs we finally got them to remove this one and give us credit towards buying a different model. Never again will I buy an LG product after this experience.

This fridge in functional, and does what it is supposed to do!

I love the side-by-side design of this fridge! I love that there is more shelve space in the freezer to separate and organize by frozen goods, as compared to the freezer on top or freezer on bottom models where you must stack stuff on top of each other and make a big pile-none of that here! Separate shelving means better organization! LOVE that in this freezer! I also love the water and ice in the door, very handy! My children can get their own drinks by themselves, and then we just leave their color-coded cups on the counter by the refrigerator all day and use them as needed, without dirtying a dozen cups or more each day. I really like the adjustable shelves in the refrigerator, too. I can organize things the way I like them so my food and beverages and condiments are grouped together in a neat and orderly way. I love the shelving in the doors! I love that I can fit a whole gallons of milk in the door-I can place them lower so they are easily within reach of my children. I love the vegetable and deli drawers, again, they make organization and cleanliness a snap!

Good fridge but not great

My LG side by side refrigerator gets the job done but I would be happier with a top and bottom refrigerator. The reason I own this refrigerator is because it was in the house when I moved in. This is my first experience with a side by side refrigerator. My biggest problem is with storage on the freezer side. I never feel like I have enough room and things like cakes cannot fit in the fridge or freezer side whole. Some thing I do like is the automatic ice maker and you can get water and ice from the front of the refrigerator. There is a filter for the water which is located in the fridge side and there is an indicator on the front that tells you when the filter needs to be replaced, about every 2 years. Overall it is not a refrigerator that I would pick but it does what it has to do.

Summarize this product in one sentence.

We purchased this refridgerator for my daughter and son in law a couple of years ago at Sears. We paid too much for it but the higher price was offset by the ease of getting credit for it. The purchase wasn't particularly well researched at the time because my wife and daughter made it and they are prone to impulse shop. The unit seems to function as advertised and hasn't had any serious mechanical problems as yet. The icemaker has been adequate for our needs and hasn't been a problem in terms of clogging for us as was reported by other reviewers, but that may be the result of how frequently we use it or the fact that I periodically use a release spray to prevent it. Shelves for both the fridge and freezer are a little narrow for my liking, but as they are adjustable for height they offer some versatility for larger items like stock pots or thanksgiving turkeys. I like the stainless steel skin, but it is harder to keep clean, even with the recommended cleaners, than white. The unit has been through multiple moves, the original install to a storage unit, temporarily to my home for storage then to another dwelling. It still functions as it should. The only problem is that the steel is fairly thin and sustains damage easily. So,if you don't have to move it much or your kids don't abuse it, it should be able to maintain its factory finish indefinitely. I don't know what the projected longevity of this product is, but my experience with most newer appliances has not been encouraging. I have an old Coldspot freezer that is 37 years old, a 38 year old Litton microwave and Kenmore range and refer that are 17. They are still going strong, though I had to replace elements in the range last year. The microwave oven/hoodvent, a Kenmore,in my new home has had to be replaced twice in 10 years. And it is cheaper to replace than fix newer appliances. Additionally, "do it yourself appliance repair" has often been engineered out of newer products sadly enough. But, back to the original product being reviewed. The interior finish seems to be relatively easy to keep clean with warm soapy water and the unit is easy to move for cleaning underneath it. The drawers in the refrigerator portion are adequately sized, so as to accomodate produce, meats and deli items.Overall, while I wouldn't rate the product a "best buy", it seems to do the job. We'll see as to how long it serves, later.

Unless you find a good sale, I'l look elsewhere for a Fridge.

We bought this fridge in May 2009, and thought it was "the best" out there. However, we really HATE it now. If I could justify replacing it, I would. The freezer space is too small, and everything gets lost in the back. The water/ice combo is horrible - everyone that tries to use the ice machine gets water everywhere! We can't really even use the ice machine because it constantly freezes up, makes a HUGE block of ice that then holds the "door" to the outside open, so it all MELTS all over the kitchen floor, (Add water to a tile floor, and it gets REALLY slippery!!) The fridge makes a horrible noise - like the compressor is trying to come on and it can't.... (Service is on it's way today!) I do like the lighting though, it's easy to see in the fridge, and that side is nice and large. Plenty of space in the doors and drawers also. Between this fridge and the LG Front load washer, I don't think that I'll ever buy another LG product... Noise Level When it's working correctly, it's very quiet. Interior Organization Fridge is great, Freezer is narrow and deep. Temperature Control Sometimes it's cold, sometimes it freezes the milk and iced tea - without ME ever changing a thing.
